Anyone know why my slide out keyboard is suddenly typing two different letters when I type or why the space button is backspacing? I tried reflashing my phone with sprint's swupgrade tool. that didn't help. Anything else anyone knows that I can do?

I expected the qwerty keyboard to have an audible click sound from the mic while typing. Ive read the manual and cant seem to find anything about this. As it is , the keyboard is silent while typing, is that normal?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone else notice that the space key on the hard-keyboard is indented, or is this something wrong with mine? I like the keyboard in general, but the space is really annoying. The other keys are all essentially flat, or very slightly curved upwards. The space though is really pretty depressed inwards. I don't think it's worn out, as I really haven't used it much yet.

View 7 Replies View RelatedHad my Samsung Moment for about a month. LOVE IT. Few issues (same as everyone else has noticed), but nothing terrible. Until: Randomly today TWO Notifications popped up that said "Low on space Phone storage space is getting low." One was what seemed to be from the "hardware" and the other was from the "Work Mail" app (which I don't use, haven't used, haven't even opened). When I click it, it takes me to the Manager screen. So, I began uninstalling some apps I don't really use (I didn't have that many anyway...a couple of games [Solitaire, etc], Facebook, Notes). It started running really slowly and random Force Close messages would appear for things like android.process, messaging--things that have never Force Closed before. I turned it off (pressed and held the red button), waited a few seconds, then turned it back on again. Immediately after the "Sprint" logo lights show finished, I got another Force Close message. When the Home Screen showed up, I had the two notifications again "Low on space". When I cleared the notifications, only the "Work Mail" one would clear. I went through and deleted some more apps that I don't use. Got on my computer & Googled the issue. Found a couple of random forums that suggested cleaning out the Cache in the Browser. I did that. Cleaned the History & Cookies in the Browser, too. Then, I did a soft reset (took out the battery). Started it up again, SAME notifications. Less Force Close messages. But, it's running VERY slowly.
After a few hours, I noticed that I hadn't received any text messages or Gmail notifications. I had my sister text me about 2 hours ago. Still have not received it.
I really don't want to hard reset. I haven't synced my contacts (I have over 400 & the Sprint store had trouble moving them from my Centro to the Moment) to Google yet, nor have I hooked my Moment up to my Mac yet (the Sprint guys had no idea if it would work or not with Snow Leopard & I hadn't had time to check yet) and I'm worried to try it now that my Moment has gone crazy...I really don't want to lose 400 contacts.I don't download a lot of apps. Most are reputable (Pandora, MotherTED, Shazam, Movies, Jewels). The last one I remember downloading was Google Voice three days ago (which I haven't really used because I've had the flu). I don't know if this is a Malware/Virus issue or if I'm just an idiot & did something wrong. But, it's running REALLY slowly right now. Still not receiving texts or emails (though my Twitter app has notified me of a couple of @ replies).I'm going to call Sprint & Samsung tomorrow, then go to a Sprint tech store if they can't help. But, I'm just hoping one of you have come across this & can help before I have to deal with hours of hold music & techies who tell me to soft reset over & over again.
BTW:
After awhile, I finally checked the storage space:
External SD care: Total: 1.89; Available: 1.85
Internal: About 2 hours ago when I first checked, after I had deleted a bunch of apps it said I had 7.something MB, now (after not downloading ANYTHING or barely even TOUCHING the damn thing) it says 1.95MB. Which leads me to believe that the 7.whatever was not necessarily accurate.
OK, quick question, maybe m just missing the option, but is there a setting to make the moment play a sound when you slide the keyboard out?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen i type something, say i misspell a word. if i wanna go edit that word. when i tap on the word, the flash cursor moves to the word, and any text behind the cursor is deleted one by one until all texts are gone. i have to retype everything behind the cursor. so annoying.

I really like the idea of having a full slide-out keyboard but I would also like a virtual one so if I'm not wanting to say much I can just use the virtual keyboard or if I'm in an area where it needs to be quiet I don't need to have the sound of the keyboard sliding open.

I looked through all the settings and can't find an option anywhere to turn it back on. I was thinking it was always a thing that is automatically done, but I was wondering if there's a setting somewhere that I accidentally turned it off from?

Maybe I'm just missing something, but I don't see any options for tuning off the LCD! I really hate sticking my phone in my pocket with the home screen active. You never know who your going to call.

It seems to happen more when I "flip" it open instead of gently sliding it but its also done it when sliding gently. Im trying to figure out if its hardware or some software. The only software I could think would do it would be pandahome but I dont wanna uninstall it and lose my setup.
View 4 Replies View Relatedthis keyboard is light years ahead of the default virtual qwerty.I bought the Moment for the hard qwerty and absolutely love it, but hated to have to open the phone for each and every little thing due to the god-awful virtual keyboard.Installing HTC's Touch Input was the best decision I've made. It's super responsive and typing is almost as easy as with the iPhone. I use the T9 numeric as opposed to the full qwerty. There's also a compact qwerty if that's your thing (Blackberry-esque)It's not on the Market AFAIK, but a quick google search will show you where it is. Even has a calibration tool!

It's not because I'm going in and out of service, as the phone is not moving, just sitting on my desk. No alerts or notifications are sounding, no noise at all, just the lights. View 5 Replies View RelatedRecently, I mentioned that I exchanged my first Moment due to a clicking noise that would occur any time I pressed down on the glass near the left side edge. I originally thought it was a defect in the glass area and that maybe the plastic underneath had cracked etc. However, tonight I realized the clicking noise is actually from loose plastic on the outer edge of the QK where the down arrow is and the Z key.
The two Moments I've owned each had this defect. I'd say it was just wear and tear except I've only had each phone a total of 3 days. I have my wife's phone as a comparison and her phone has never had this problem, whereas my two phones have and each of them were perfectly fine at the time of purchase.I'm not returning the second one unless it gets considerably worse, for now it's just a clicking noise that you can hear in a quiet room. I'm guessing this is due to the fact I carry it in my jeans pockets and she carries it in a purse, so there is not as much pressure on the phone.
I downloaded and installed the Lock 2.0 free trial program. Upon install, when I clicked on the "Home" button on my Samsung Moment, a pop appeared with 3 choices:
Complete Action Using:
1) Home (go to home)
2) Lock icon (meaning to lock the phone) - also with a warning - do not use this as default - you had (sic) been warned.
3) a checkbox to use either choice 1 or 2 as the default always.
This made me curious. First of all if I accidentally remapped the Home button the Lock app, how would I be able to remap it to the default "Home" action? Looked in settings and do not see how I can remap Home button. I don't like how a 3rd part app can intercept the Home button and yet I can't figure out how to undo the damage if I accidentally remapped the Home button to the 3rd party app. Anyone here know if this is possible to restore the Home button if you mess up and a 3rd party app maps it by default?
I noticed while trying to put my phone into download mode that my camera button appears to be remapped or buggered in some way. The phone would simply never go into download mode (vol down/camera/end) and would, instead, just boot up like normal. I thought that the battery was too low or something of that sort, so I let the phone boot up and just tried to use each button to see how they would go. Volume down and end worked fine, but when I push camera, instead of actually taking a picture, the camera button seems to:
1) Adjust the volume up and down
2) Go to my contacts list
3) Dial the contact at the top of the list
While I'm sure I could talk to my local Mazda dealer about _something_, I can actually call them on my own just fine without the help of my camera button. But, what's worse is that I'm sure the camera button's remapping (or whatever) is what's causing me difficulties getting this thing into download mode.
Screen won't turn off when I press the red/end call button after checking the time or wanting to go dark while listening to Pandora. I do not have ATK or similar I do not have Panda Home or similar.

Im wondering if I'm the only one or am is it just my phone? I've noticed that this phone can be a bit buggy at times! Note: I have not had the update done on this phone. The only big recent app that I've installed is handcent.
