Is this possible to do? I see where I can have seperate ringtones for each contact but what about different text notification sounds for different contacts?

My only complaint about the Droid is the seeming lack of options for notifications.
Is there a way, or an app, that would allow you to assign different notifications to emails vs texts vs missed calls?
Also, does anyone know if there's a way to set the phone to re-notify you periodically if you have a notification that has not been looked at? I tend to leave my phone sitting on my desk at work and would like it to let me know if I missed a call or text while I was away from my desk.
Ideally I'd like to silence email notifications, but have text and missed call notifications with unique ring tones for each, and I'd like the phone to renotify me every 10 minutes or so if I have a text or missed call waiting for me.
so I downloaded this app, but now everytime I get a text from someone, I get 2 notifications, one for Handcent and one for the old messaging that came with the phone....did I do something wrong or miss a step?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis might just be me being picky, but... after the update yesterday, when I go to select multiple contacts to send a text to it now gives a list of EVERYONE in my phone book and facebook friends listing their home/email/cell phone numbers all individually, which caused the list to go from about 50 names to scroll through to over 300. Now before the update when I went to select multiple contacts to send a text to it was just the list of the people who's phone numbers I have in my phone. (BTW, this is the stock messaging feature, not an app or any of that). I've looked for hours for a setting to only show phone numbers and not to show facebook contacts in the text selection but no luck at all. Can you guys help a semi tech savvy guy out here?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had this problem in 2.1v2, I installed v3, and it first, all was well, then yesterday I noticed the same thing...none of my custom set ring tones are being used. phone always rings with the system default.
I can change that, and it rings that tone, but any I assign to a contact don't work.
I haven't installed any ring tone managers or anything, I can't think of what would be messing with it, but it is friggin annoying!

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I want to send a text message to my friend Bob, i'll type "bob" in the recipients name and no phone number will come up even though he is stored in my contacts. However, whenever i want to send a text to Jill, I simply type "Jill" in the recipients box in the SMS and her phone number pops up. In order to send a text message to Bob, i have to go into Contacts-->Search-->Send text. It's more of a nuisance than anything else and was wondering if there was a remedy for it. View 1 Replies View RelatedTotally new to "smart phones" and feeling pretty dumb right now I have managed to download a bunch of sounds (mpga) and saved them in my "sounds" folder on my Captivate. And following advice, have gone into my Contacts, scrolled down, and assigned a file as ringtone, then hit "Save". When viewing the contact, it shows the file as being assigned as their ringtone. And then when the call comes in.... Rings as default. Whats going on? Do the sounds have to be in the Ringtone folder? If yes, how do I do that? If no, what am I doing wrong?

Even better if these could be "outside" the default notification sounds. I realize this sounds crazy, but my phone has a mario theme to it, and the plug in is "gain a mushroom" sound, and I would love it if it did the "loose a powerup" sound when I unplugged.

"Why would you do that", you may ask. Well, the thing is, I use the app "Best Wifi" to switch my wifi automatically at home since I'm using a repeater there. But as soon as I'm in an area without wifi connection, it tries to connect to a wifi and keeps on sending toast notifications with "no APN found blabla" every 15 seconds. Thats especially disturbing when I use my phone as a navigation device in the car. So, it would be great if I could block those toast notifications from popping up.
Currently, I'm using a rooted Nexus 5 with Beanstalk ROM on 4.4.2.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI would like to skip 1 particular app update, or at least turn off the notification that this app update is available, but *not* lose other app update notifications. This isn't about email, sms, battery, or other notifications, only the notifications that app updates are available.
Specifically: Yelp just released an update that wants permission to view my phonebook. I don't see why they need that and don't want to give permission. The older version of Yelp did not seem to ask for this, and I'm happy w/ the app and prefer not to uninstall totally, just skip this particular update with the feature I don't like. (Appreciate your thoughts on that Yelp / privacy issue too, fwiw).
So, I want to get rid of the notification for this particular update. But, I don't want to turn off notifications when other apps have available updates. When I click on the notification, I have option to "update" or "uninstall." Neither is what I want, I want to "skip this update, keep app." The top bar icon goes away after I check, but it comes right back soon after, always w/ the Yelp update waiting there, sometimes w/ other updates for other apps too. How to get rid of the one I don't want, keep the others coming through?
I use my phone to with two calendar accounts, one google-account for private and one outlook exchange account for company. I want both to sync so that I can watch the calendar (that works). I want my private account to notify me of calendar events (that works). But I do NOT want my company account to notify me of calendar events, because there are so many meetings, that its like SPAM (and I am already reminded by my laptop at work).
So: Can I turn off the notifications for a specific account?
To clarify:
- no I do not want to change the notifications on the appointments, because I do want to be reminded at work
- no I do not want to disable the synchronisation for the company account, because I do want to be able to look at my calendar.
It is easily possible to disable the mail notification for the company account only, but it seems not to be possible for calendar notifications?
