I've had my Droid X for a week now. I'm coming from the Incredible. Both are great phones but I prefer the X. I have 3 email accounts setup on this phone. My corp account using the Corporate Sync and 2 personal accounts using IMAP. The Corporate Sync works fine but the IMAP accounts will only download email every few hours instead of every 15 minutes. If I reboot the phone, it will download new emails.

I setup two IMAP email accounts and they are set to check email every 5 minutes but they do not auto check the email, I have to manually refresh and then if I check a message on my desktop, it doesn't sync back to the phone to show it's already been read.

I only ask as i wish to connect to my Uni email address and the IMAP settings are restricted on undergraduate accounts, so cant sync in the usual way via IMAP. However, people who have BB's at uni have no issue in connecting to their emails. On asking the IT guys why this is they explained "The reason people are able to use Blackberry?s is due to the fact that they provide there password to an external company to access there mail on behalf of them which is strongly against the terms and conditions of there university account, and as a result should not be doing this at all." Essentially i need an app that mimics this. his new HTC desire?
Does the built-in email app support imap idle on an 'ordinary' (i.e. not exchange, gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc) imap mail server? Or is k-9 email the only way to go for imap idle on an Android?
View 5 Replies View RelatedNew user and new Droid owner here. As a previous BB Curve owner, I was pretty excited to drop the clunky BB OS in favor of a more user friendly device. I am trying to get my email set up on my Droid. I have my personal email through my webhost (Dreamhost.com) which allows us to have either IMAP or POP3 email access. I have attempted to set up each on my phone and still have similar issues.
1. Emails constantly show up dated 12/31/1969 - typically these are auto generated emails from eBay or CRON based emails from some applications I have developed. Is there an known issue with the way the OS reads auto-generated time stamps?
2. Multiple notifications received on same emails. Once again tied back to my additional POP3/IMAP account, but I receive the notification icon of new emails after I have read them - and even sometimes deleted them from my Droid.
3. Not so much an email issue, but a general question. Is there a way to "unlock" the phone other than sliding the screen up or pressing the top botton?
Does anyone recommend, use or just know of an email client other than K-9 for use with IMAP email. I use touchdown for my Exchange/Corporate account. I have been using K-9 for my email client, which is alright and gets the job down, but I am wanting more.
I have searched the MArket place but can' find any.
I am having some very annoying email problems that I have fought with for almost a week, researched and tried multiple programs, and followed about every tutorial on this and similar sites to make work. My school system's email provider is junk, but since I'm a traveling teacher (I bounce between schools) it is very important that I be able to receive and reply to emails from administrators and other teachers. I'm coming from five years of Blackberry email, where all it took was inputting my address and password in the BIS email page and never having to give it a second thought.
So far, here's a rundown on what's happened and what I've tried:
1. Using My Accounts and the stock email program, my email address has been added. It will not connect when set up as a POP3 account; I must set it as an IMAP account to retrieve any emails. No matter what port setting I use (25 or 587), I cannot send or reply to email.
2. Using K-9 email, I am able to download email as POP3 with standard settings (port 110). As with the built-in client, I am unable to reply to or send emails.
3. Before you ask, 587 never worked. I've tried.
4. The email address is configured in accordance with our service provider's instructions..
5. This issue has occurred in the same manner on both 2.1 and 2.2.
I can access my AOL, Comcast and obviously Gmail with no problems on my Droid. However I want to be able to access my companies email I have set up through powweb.com (they host my website). Anyway I keep getting error messages that it could not finish set up or sometimes it says Error: check user and password details. I triple checked and made sure I was putting in the right info and then I even went on the powweb website and made sure I was putting in the correct settings and even contacted someone there and they gave me some info to try and help and I am still getting error messages. I have tried POP and IMAP. The exchange account, is a fee based account.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just switched from the HTC eris to the Droid and had no issues with IMAP on the eris which is running 1.5 OS. What's happening is I setup my personal domain email as imap and all works. I mark all messages in the inbox as read. When new email comes in it marks the entire inbox as new. I've deleted the account multiple times and done a hard reset. I even tested this in the store on 2 phones.
Moto doesn't have an answer and I found this thread on the VZ forums Droid IMAP emails always Unread - Verizon | Forums and Blogs - Verizon Community which the OP is using the same hosting company as I am. I've never had a problem on a WinMo, BB or iPhone setting it up the same way. Something seems off but not sure what it is. I've setup GMail via the same mail app and that's working.
I'm a new Android user and I'm sure this will seem like a silly question, but for the life of me, I can't figure it out. I have two non-Gmail accounts set up using the stock email program: one Yahoo Mail and the other for my domain. The email account for my domain is set up as the default, so when I start a new email, it comes from that account. However, I can not figure out how to switch to the Yahoo Mail account to compose and send email without making the Yahoo Mail account the default account. There has to be some way to open your inbox or send a new message without switching which account is the default everytime, or at least I would think so.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if anyone else has had their email accounts disappear? This has happened 3 times now. The first time was a few weeks ago after having the same accounts for months. The next time was a couple of weeks ago and then it happened again today. I checked my emails when I got to work, and then while I was sitting in a meeting, I picked up my phone to peek at emails and all 3 accounts were gone along with my corporate calendar account. I re-entered the accounts and it loads everything, but this is kind of annoying.

I have one Exchange account for work and one Pop account (yahoo). Both times I've gone to access my email and the accounts were just gone (my gmail account however remained in tact). I have to go and add them in again and adding Yahoo as a Pop account is no picnic. Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening or if that's even possible?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAll of our Droid's have lost the mail accounts at least once (when you go to email it shows the "new account wizard" - however, the old accounts still show in the "Sync" area. One of the devices seems to be doing it regularly. Wanted to see if anyone had advice with this issue, as I have heard other discussing the issue, but never seen resolution. Specific to the unit that has lost it several times. I factory reset the device last time to see if that would resolve it. It dropped it again not a week later. This unit is not rooted, and is at 2.0.1. The only other assumption I can make is possible problems with an APP?

I don't know for the life of me how to see all my accounts I have with the stock email app. I have two AOL accounts, but every time I open the app, only one account shows up. I try pressing "back" and it exits the program. I also tried seeing what I can do when I press the settings button (first left button).

I just can't figure out how to add multiple email accounts under the Email app. Under email settings I see where it says default mail account and it shows both of my account, but the front screen doesn't show both accounts?

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I set up my outlook email for work on my X. I checked the Email Delivery settings --> Fetch Schedule and saw that "Every 15 Minutes" is the most often it can do. Is this the setting that tells the phone get inbox updates? I need my work emails updated atleast every minute, is there a way to do this for ONLY this email account? (Not my gmail, or any other email account)Maybe a workaround would be to have a text sent to me whenever something new is in the Outlook inbox?

View 17 Replies View RelatedI just recently came from an iPhone and it seems the android is lacking on the email side of things, perhaps I'm missing something. Is there an app that supports:
- Multiple exchange accounts
- IMAP/POP as well?
I can't even find an app that supports multiple exchange accounts and the apps that do support exchange (touchdown) don't support pop3/imap.
I just switched to Eris from WinMo HTC XV6800. On the old phone I had all my email accounts, Exchange, Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail.I could open the mail app and see all accounts as a list and then select which account to access the new email as it would show which accounts had new mail. On the Eris, when I get a new email notification, I have no idea which email account the new mail is for. I have to open mail, then touch to open the pull down of accounts and then check each one , one by one until I dig out the new email. Is there an easier way to see all new mail in an overview list of all accounts on the Eris? All in all loving the phone after 48 hours but the email use seems clunky and slows down my productivity.
Anyone having trouble with widgets stop updating? Like my clock/calendar/weather/news/pretty much any widget i have stops updating after an hour. So i look at my clock widget two hours later and it is an hour behind. Happens to ALL my widgets.Even the quick turn on/off wifi,bt,gps and such. They just stop updating/showing animation.I have ADW launcher installed. I am wondering if it is that. I do not really want to remove it as i hate the stock 3 button interface at the bottom (why do i need a contacts and phone, just use the phone to look thru contacts, wasted space IMO) and am quite keen on keeping the 5 button.Any ideas? If i power off the phone and turn it back on it's fine again for about an hour. SOmetimes randomly thru the day it will start updating and working fine again then randomly stop again.

Since then I have attempted to set up my business email account which uses the Google Business Account on my Eris. Thus far I have been unable to add my second email account. Can someone help me?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've seen various threads about IMAP settings to use for Yahoo email, but it wasn't clear from most of the posts I read whether it was referring to free Yahoo email or a Yahoo-based account associated with home high speed internet. Some gave parameters not using SSL encryption, and I know that would not work for me, but some used very similar setup to what I currently use on my Palm Pre (which uses an IMAP server with "palm" at the beginning of the name, so I don't know if there's a "secret handshake" between the Pre and the server that disallows access via other devices).
I have AT&T DSL (swbell domain email) and am strongly considering dumping my Pre for an EVO, but IMAP access to my swbell account is a must-have. I have a gmail account, but I'm pretty well-established with the swbell account, and don't want to deal with auto-forwarding. So has anyone successfully set up IMAP access to an AT&T/Yahoo email account? I tried using an IMAP server and parameters I found here through Windows Live Mail, but I keep getting some sort of certificate error claiming my system doesn't support something the server is expecting. I have tried in the past with Thunderbird as well using the palm IMAP server, and never succeeded with that either. So I'm a little hesitant to take the plunge until I have a high level of confidence it'll work. Plus I'm waiting for the Android version of HanDBase anyway, since I use that via Classic on my Pre. I don't mind buying an email client if the standard android client doesn't support it. I may do that anyway if there are better ones out there.
I'm trying to set up K9 on my Incredible and am having one little problem (so far).
I'm trying to set it up using IMAP.
When I set up the account, I chose Push (though I don't see that option anywhere now that the account has been set up). I also have polling off.
That still seems to be checking email and notifying me upon arrival of new emails.
What I'm having trouble with, though, is it's not syncing correctly with my server. If I delete/mark read/etc an email on the server, that doesn't get automatically reflected in K9.
That's how IMAP is supposed to work.
If I delete it on K9, it does immediately delete it off my server.
Any idea what I might be missing?
Also, is using K9 w/Push going to be tougher on the battery than using the Gmail app?
Like most ppl on here, I previously owned a Blackberry and am accustom to having separate icons for each email account. So far I have three email accounts including my gmail account on my eris. When I first setup my msn, and school email I was able to separate the accounts into two separate icons. Now that I have figured out how to add my yahoo account I would like to have a separate icon for this also but can't figure out how I did this the first time.

View 22 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use the K9 application with Yahoomail on my Droid Incredible. Yahoomail does not work the way I like with the standard HTC email client. It does not save email to sent items when I reply something I really like and when I delete it does not put the items on the server into trash. I have a few questions about the K9 yahoomail setup with PUSH rather than Poll.
1. Does Yahoomail on K9 support PUSH without polling? I want to save battery and avoid polling plus I simply like push better.
2. If it does support PUSH for incoming what is the full setup and configuration to get this to work. I have tried it and it does not seem to download test email. But if I perform a Poll it does.
I am using imap.mail.yahoo.com 143. I also received an update of K9 today from the market that said it fixed the IMAP notification issues.
Droid Razr MAXX stock email. I have 2 IMAP email accounts that sometimes refresh (I.E. the email pushes right away) and sometimes if I manually check it hours later, I see that emails were sent 2-3 hours ago with no notification or no push.
This sometimes happens too with Exchange, but not as often.
