I setup two IMAP email accounts and they are set to check email every 5 minutes but they do not auto check the email, I have to manually refresh and then if I check a message on my desktop, it doesn't sync back to the phone to show it's already been read.

I have 3 email accounts on my Captivate, 2 gmail and My purdue email account. I can send and receive through both the gmail accounts but the Purdue one will not send no matter what settings I try. According to the school the outgoing settings need to be
IMAP
TSL enabled
port 587
require log in
I have tried TSL, SSL (both regular and accept all certs) login and no login and a few other settings. Done 2 battery pulls and re composing the message countless times. It just stays in my outbox. WiFi on and off. When I go into the outbox, I press on the "Send outgoing messages button" and it blinks like I pressed it, but it doesn't immediately try to send the email, have to wait another 2-4 minutes before it decides it wants to try and connect to the server. When it does finally try to send the email it tries for about 30 seconds then comes back with "connection error" and gives up. Also none of my email accounts will automatically check for email like I have them set to do. I have them set to check every 5 minutes and it seems like some check every 4 hours and others will only manually check. Its inconsistent at best.
The email issues for this phone are really making me regret the purchase.
I've had my Droid X for a week now. I'm coming from the Incredible. Both are great phones but I prefer the X. I have 3 email accounts setup on this phone. My corp account using the Corporate Sync and 2 personal accounts using IMAP. The Corporate Sync works fine but the IMAP accounts will only download email every few hours instead of every 15 minutes. If I reboot the phone, it will download new emails.

I only ask as i wish to connect to my Uni email address and the IMAP settings are restricted on undergraduate accounts, so cant sync in the usual way via IMAP. However, people who have BB's at uni have no issue in connecting to their emails. On asking the IT guys why this is they explained "The reason people are able to use Blackberry?s is due to the fact that they provide there password to an external company to access there mail on behalf of them which is strongly against the terms and conditions of there university account, and as a result should not be doing this at all." Essentially i need an app that mimics this. his new HTC desire?
i am very frustrated with the email set up with the captivate!! i set up yahoo and i get error messages, as it is continually searching for messages? when one sets up an account how can you set up a second account? and how do you delete an account? I moved from an iphone to android and so far the os does not seem as intuitive as the iphone?

I have two Gmail accounts and one school email app. All of the settings are set to check every 5 minutes. All three email accounts have been syncing fine for the first two days that I have had the phone, but all of a sudden the two Gmail accounts have stopped autosyncing. However, none of the settings have changed. My school email receives all my emails every 5 minutes, but my two Gmail accounts will only get the email once I enter the accounts and do a manual sync. Both of my Gmail accounts are set to IMAP and they are all on the right settings.

- Multiple exchange accounts
- IMAP/POP as well?
I can't even find an app that supports multiple exchange accounts and the apps that do support exchange (touchdown) don't support pop3/imap.
Does the built-in email app support imap idle on an 'ordinary' (i.e. not exchange, gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc) imap mail server? Or is k-9 email the only way to go for imap idle on an Android?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC One where I am using the Gmail app for my private gmail account and the native HTC mail app for my work mail.
The work mail is set up with iMap, but the problem is that it isn't syncing sent messages with other devices. If I send an email from my HTC, it will only appear in the sent folder on the phone, but not in the sent folder in Outlook in my laptop. I had the same problem in Outlook, but in Outlook it was possible to define which folder sent messages should be saved in, thus making them available on all devices.
how I can do the same with HTC's mail app, so messages sent from the phone also will appear on other devices?
I have a google account and also an account through our local internet company. Neither one is sending or receiving email. Anyone else have this problem? Hoe did you fix it?? I did do a search for email..but I must be using the search wrong because it sends me to other forums?

My problem is I can not for the life of me find any information on transferring my e mail accounts without imputing everything all over again which will take for ages so copy & paste affair to transfer all my e mail settings from pop settings and log in passwords as I have 7 e mail accounts that need transferred surely I am not going to have to do this manually which will take ages if it has to be done manually.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst, I'm sure some or all of these have been discussed in some way somewhere, but i've been searching and just haven't found any clear answers (probably because i'm a bad "searcher" not because they are not there)I COULD REALLY USE SOME UP TO DATE INFO ON THE FOLLOWING TOPICS: I just bought a Behold II and have been thoroughly frustrated by the following, any help is greatly appreciated:
1. Gmail - Like a lot of people I have several gmail accounts and use all of them very regularly for various reasons (business, personal, little league, etc.) With my blackberry and gmail app i was able to easily log in and out of all these accounts and stay on top of everything. Now I appear to be stuck with the first account i logged into/setup with no means of logging out and getting into another. I understand (now) that much of the OS revolves around syncing everything for productivity, but this is a REALLY BIG problem for me. If I can only use one email account this phone is definitely going back immediately. Is there a means of doing this? 1a. I really don't like the idea of anybody being able to pick up my phone and be able to immediately go through my email. If i can't log out how can i at least protect the email from access by others without having to set a password or sequence EVERY time i pick up and use the phone?
2. Without asking me, after logging into the afore mentioned gmail account the phone took all the contact information from that account and loaded it into CONTACTS. Because it's an account that i use for general use there was a lot of spam in there and various other email addresses that i don't care about and it grabbed them ALL - EVERYTHING. So now i have thousands of contacts that are just email addresses for every thing and everybody that i've ever communicated with over that email account. How can i get rid of all of these and make sure this doesn't happen again.
3. I had all my contancts on my blackberry stored on my SIM card, which is where i'd like them to stay, but it appears that contacts stored to SIM can only have one phone number attached to them so i can't add additional information like additional phone numbers, email addresses, notes, bday information, etc. Is this correct? do i have to copy all of these to the phone memory in order to use these contacts properly and take advantage of all the features? Again, i'm very sorry if i'm rehashing old wounds here, i'm just so thoroughly frustrated and since i run my business from this phone it's hurting me tremendously right now. If i need to return this and go back to blackberry i need to do it soon so i can get back to being productive.

The last 2 weeks, suddenly my emailaccounts were totally erased. One of them is Echange and the other one POP.
After installing them again there seems to be some content of the old accounts.
Three times now I have had to re-establish my email accounts on this phone, any clue as to why they would spontaneously disappear?

I have a Gmail Account, Facebook Account, and a University Email Account that I pull my contacts from. All three of them are synced with my phone. The University Email uses Gmail and Google apps. I am trying to figure out a way to sync all my contacts in one place, preferably my normal Gmail account. I understand that you can't auto-sync Facebook contacts to Gmail, but I would like to sync the contacts that I've added to the phone to my Gmail Account.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm a newbie to this forum, and hope someone can help. Have had the Captivate for almost a month now and am plagued by an annoying problem. I have set up email accounts connecting to a google-hosted email account via IMAP. I am finding that when replying to a received email, my reply goes out with redundant repetitions of the email address on the "to" line. Example: Email from soandso@gmail.com arrives. I click "reply" on the phone and the reply goes out to soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com etc etc *10 times*, instead of just once. It also copies me about 10 times! Is anybody else seeing this? I use this for work emails, so it looks very unprofessional like I am trying to spam my clients! I have another couple of days before my 30-day return period is up, so hopefully someone else know how to fix this. Is there some setting I am overlooking?

When I use the default email client from captivate, even when I set the checking period as every 10mins, I won't get new emails unless I open the app and manually refresh, well, except the one of gmail. This happens on my yahoo email, hotmail and my school email, which all worked fine on my old iphone. People have talked about yahoo mails won't be accessible through wifi from Android, which happens on mine too. But even when I was at 3G, the email client won't auto check it either. I have tried K9 email client, it doesn't work either. The only thing I find work is the MailDriod, but the function of this app is very limited, it won't even open attachments by default. Does anyone else here have the same problem, or maybe an idea to fix the default email client?Also, I find when I use the ear set make calls, when I try to click the button on the ear set, it won't hang up the call as my iphone would. Is this a bug or just something Andriod can't do? The button on the ear set seems quite useless with Captivate, it can only control to play or pause by single click when play music, won't do song change when doule click it.

I'm not running any lagfixes (at least nothing enabled via rom-manager for now) and I have a jawbone headset. Has anyone else had this problem, and could I have borked bluetooth with an app/user-data restore (Titanium)?

I had problems with my PC (Vista) recognizing the phone but now it seems to be working but I don't know if I should just drag and drop my music files to the droid or if I need to use a program to sync it. Perhaps If I post the question, some one can PLEASE assist?I have a Gmail addy for a side business, and I created that account on my (EVO) phone "initially". I originally did a sync with it. However, after some thought, I decided to create a personal Gmail account and wanted ALL of my phone's contacts to sync with THAT newly created personal Gmail account. No can do.Although I have the original Gmail account's settings on "off" (not to sync at all), when I sync the phone to Google, all calendar events are there on the new G account, but NOT the contacts. They are simply not coming over?

I keep seeing that I should use isyncr if I want to continue to use itunes but do I need an SD card before I starting syncing my podcasts/music to my captivate?
