Ok. I followed all the correct guides and updated my phone to the 2.2hack. After initial startup and re install of boot strap my gmail will not sync. It has been stuck at "your email will appear shortly" for an hour I have a back up recovery of 2.1 but i really want to run 2.2 without getting the OTA.

Anyone else having this problem? I force updated to 2.01 and all is well except for my Verizon.net email account wont sync. In settings/accounts.sync I get a sync error message under my Verizon account and a red sync circle. I get an error message at the bottom.of the screen saying- Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly. My Gmail account shows no error. I have had this error since updating to 2.01. Previously my Verizon account had no sync errors.Anybody else getting this error?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI can't take this stupid gmail sync issue anymore. I have been browsing web for the last 2 days and have tried everything short of throwing my phone against the wall. My MacbookPro will get the gmail and it will literally take an hour or so to get the mail on Droid (unless i refresh it myself). Isn't this a GOOGLE phone??? Of all the things gmail should be a breeze on this phone. I had a blackberry prior to Droid and email on Blackberry was never a problem. Infact I used to brag about how quick it was. Anyways I have been going through different forums and lots of people are having this similar problem. I hope we get a fix soon as this seems to be a software problem.
View 42 Replies View RelatedI've started using 2.2, and it's going great, but I've noticed that when I read and archive an email on my phone, it's not reflecting it on the computer.Previously whenever I'd run into issues like this I'd clear the cache on the Gmail Storage in the Manage Applications menu, and it'd resync, but in 2.2 there's only the Gmail app, and the Clear Cache button is grayed out.

Can droid do the same thing? Also it let her sync her contacts with facebook profile. This put the facebook picture next to the contact, and found birtday for the calander. IS this somthing that droid can do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Droid X. I am trying to sync my contacts with my phone. Everything works fine until I try to add a new group (personal, work, etc). As long as the contacts are in my contacts everything syncs fine. when I put contacts in those groups that I created they never show up on my phone. Is there a setting I am missing? In gmail or phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have being trying to find an app the syncs Memos on my Droid X with either my computer or with Gmail. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the right app. So my approach is to set up a contact in Gmail and populate the "Note" field only with my Memo information. Then on my Droid X & in Gmail, I set up a contact group titled "Memos" and added these contacts to that group. This way, the "Memos" are on my handheld and sync'd with Gmail and can be viewed separately from my other contacts when I look at the "Memos" contact group.
It would be nice if we were able to automatically sync our "groups" in Gmail with the "groups" on Droid X instead of setting up the groups manually, but this is another one of the stupid deficiencies in the Droid X software.
Is anyone noticing no rhyme or reason as to when Gmail syncs? I'm getting a long delay sometimes. I am hooked up to WiFi at work, but have low cell signal in this area. I looked for a setting to change sync time but didn't find one.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHaving issues with gmail contact sync. I was using the blackberry tour which I synced regularly with outlook. When I switched to the Droid i exported the vcard into gmail and the gmail synced with my droid. The problem is some of my contacts have been merged with other contacts. For example, Nick with no last name was merged with Nick H that does have a last name. They should be two different Nicks and I dont understand why the droid is combining them. I have checked the gmail account and the two Nicks are NOT merged together, but the two Nicks ARE merged on the actual phone. My phone was syncing with facebook and gmail but i disabled the auto sync and just manually synced the gmail on its own but i still have the same problem. I also have another friend with the same problem on her droid.

I say 'deleting' loosely because when I look through my contacts none are there, however if someone sends me a text it has them saved with their number. Is there a way to restore/retrieve my contacts?
View 2 Replies View RelatedCurrently if I add/modify a contact in gmail it will sync without issue to my phone But if I happen to add a contact onto my phone or change something on my phone, that contact is not being synced to my gmail contacts (it stays on the phone, just doesn't go into gmail as well). Thoughts? I currently only sync 'My Contacts' from gmail to my phone not sure if this matters or not. I don't see an option to sync the other way as I did when using Google Sync on my blackberry.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been reading up on the concept of push email, and how it's supposed to be a huge battery saver (since in theory, the phone would only receive a notification of an e-mail, and not the actual e-mail itself). I have also been reading up on how the "Gmail" app's version of Push email is not the same as other Push e-mail software, in that it requires the phone to "Sync" whenever an e-mail hits the Gmail server. As a result, whenever I would try to turn Auto Sync off (supposedly to save battery), I would no longer be able to get my e-mail notifications in real time.
With this in mind, I attempted to find another application that would enable me to use Push email for my Gmail account, without having to "Sync" with Gmail's server. After messing around for a bit, I found that I could manually input my Gmail account info (Incoming Server, Outgoing Server, Username, Pass, Etc.) into the stock "Email" app that comes with the X. Once this was done, I was able to enable "Data Push" in the "Email" app's Settings menu (as well turning off any Polling intervals). By doing this, I was able to receive new Gmail notifications through the "E-mail" app, even when Auto Sync had been turned off. As a bonus, I received them around 15 seconds faster than I did with the "Gmail" app's version of Push.....
Have had no issues at all with the phone since i have owned it, but this morning it has decided it no longer wants to synchronize with my windows 7 ultimate installation. has been syncing fine daily for 2 weeks, i select the sync option on the handset, it sits for 1min "finding htc sync on your pc". then get error "unable to find htc sync on your pc. please make sure sync is installed and opend on your computer" etc, htc sync is running and open, and the device is not mounted by default. its not a usb connection error, as i can mount the disk drive and copy files etc. so suspect drivers are ok. i first made sure i was running latest version of the htc sync software, by downloading the latest and installing again. (i haven't removed and clean installed yet) 2.0.33. i also rebooted the device by removing the battery. i do also sync with an xp machine, so i will give this a try later, i suspect it will work, my money is on it being a PC issue rather than handset. although cannot think what has changed over the weekend to effect this.

I open it on my PC then plug in my phone, set it to HTC sync and it tries to find htc sync on my PC, it always fails to do so, i have installed the latest HTC sync from HTC.com, tried changing USB ports but it always says that its unable to find htc sync on my PC..... I think this is the reason i am unable to make a gold card. So has anyone got any suggestions for me? I need this phone de-branding I cant believe what Orange UK have done to my phone!! The Internet icon is changed from the stock icon to their own orange world icon I want to be in a position to root my desire if HTC refuse to update to 2.2 without a gold card i cant do that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to sync my Calendar and Contacts from Outlook to the Incredible. For multiple reasons, going from Outlook to Gmail to Incredible is not an option for me. I installed HTC Sync and was able to get all 800+ of my contacts to the Incredible. But the Sync keeps failing when it tries to move my Calendar over. I've left the default setting to sync future appointments and 20 days before today. Sometimes the HTC Sync software seems to freeze, but most times it does connect to the phone but eventually gives me a timeout/failed to connect message. I've tried rebooting both PC and phone but the problem persists. Running Outlook 2007 on XP SP3 machine. Running HTC Sync 2.0.25 that came on the phone (as apparently there isn't a version for Incredible avail to d/l from HTC support yet).

I think that this is because its not resizing the images that I try to send.... When i use Handcent all works like it is supposed to but not when I use the default messaging application.
