Aug 3, 2010Is their anywhere on the X that you can setup your LED lights for your notifications?

View 14 RepliesI have created an application that creates notifications, using the following code:
// Notification notification = new Notification(R.drawable.notification_icon, title, System.currentTimeMillis());
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL;
// parameters
String ringtone = prefs.getString(context.getString(R.string.key_notifications_ringtone), "");
if (ringtone.length() > 0) { notification.sound = Uri.parse(ringtone);
notification.audioStreamType = AudioManager.STREAM_NOTIFICATION;
} boolean useVibrator = prefs.getBoolean(context.getString(R.string.key_notifications_use_vibrator), false);
if (useVibrator) { notification.defaults |= Notification.DEFAULT_VIBRATE;
} boolean useLed = prefs.getBoolean(context.getString(R.string.key_notifications_use_led), false);
if (useLed) { notification.defaults |= Notification.DEFAULT_LIGHTS;
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_SHOW_LIGHTS;
} // alert
RemoteViews contentView = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(), R.layout.notification);
contentView.setImageViewResource(R.id.notification_icon, R.drawable.icon);
contentView.setTextViewText(R.id.notification_title, title);
contentView.setTextViewText(R.id.notification_text, text);
notification.contentView = contentView;
Intent notificationIntent = new Intent(context, MyActivity.class);
PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, notificationIntent, 0);
notification.contentIntent = contentIntent; notificationManager.notify(1, notification);
The notification works, and the correct ringtone is used. However, even though the preferences are correctly activated and notification flags are correctly set (I checked by debugging), the notification never vibrates and never cause the lights to be activated. I would have blamed my phone's settings, but every other app using notifications, like messaging, gmail, and others correctly use all these features. (My phone is a HTC Hero with Android 2.1)
Some have complained about not being able to change the LED or get repeat notifications for gmail. I stumbled on this last night and thought I would share. I haven't tried it and make no claims to its greatness.Gmail Notifier.It lets you change the color of the LED, vibration length, and gives repeat notifications. It also works for multiple gmail accounts I believe.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOne of my favorite devs, and creator of the Bedside app has come out with a hack app that turns those pesky LEDs off while the DROID is in the multimedia dock. Until Google fixes this issue, this work-around for us rooted owners is just the ticket.
Look for Softbuttons Lights Hack on the Market, or CLICK HERE from your DROID.
I've had my Droid since they came out last year. Somehow I was able to configure notification lights for Gmail and Handcent, but I don't remember how. I had to wipe my phone and start over and now I can't figure out how I did that. I have Touchdown Pro for Exchange and that allows me to customize the LED for that app, but I can't find the settings for Gmail or Handcent. I know they used to be there, but I can't remember what I did to make them appear. I must have installed a third-party app, but I have no idea what it was. Any idea how I did it? I'd really like to get those notification LEDs back!

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am not having a single issue with my phone, not a one. No contacts missing ,backlights not working, no rebooting on its own I absolutley love my Droid ,it even took two drops and not even a bruise. How many other of you are not having any issue with your DROID ?
View 37 Replies View RelatedI have found ( and I willing to bet many already know this) that the sensor in the upper right side of the screen is what determines if the button lights are on or off. In a well lit room the lights will be off, if you cover that sensor or darken the room the lights come on.
What we need is someone smarter than I am to make an app or widget that disables that sensor when the phone is in the dock, if that is possible.
The problem seems to happen more often since the 2.2 update. Custom ringtones for individuals, as well as default ringtone, change for no reason, as do notifications. I typically set my notification at zero volume plus vibrate, then the next day I'll hear a notification go off, and find in the settings that the checkbox for using the same volume for notifications as ringtones is checked again. So I have to uncheck it, and slide the notification volume back to zero. Is there some way to lock my settings?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIve tried searching but nothing came up for this. I made a folder on the root for ringtones so I could get my personal ringtones selected for phone ringtone.Now the issue is how do I get some of those ringtones to come up for notifications like mail or sms?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIf I customize all of my alerts for SMS, email, calls, etc., to sounds (no vibrate), and put the phone in vibrate mode, does it replace all of these sounds with vibration? So that there is no sound coming out of the phone? Same with if I put the phone on silent? I would hope you don't have to go in and change the notification settings for each application to vibrate if you want vibrate, right?I've read some stuff that suggested that this could happen, and it doesn't make sense, but I wanted to make sure.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne little thing I miss on my Blackberry was that I had it set to vibrate once for Social Network notifications, twice for an email and three times for an SMS. That way I knew how important it might be and whether to take it out of my pocket. My T-Mobile G2/HTC Hero (1.5) doesn't seem to have the option to change the default "vibrate twice". Is there any way of changing it? Or an app that might do it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased the HTC Incredible and got it last week. In the last couple of days, I noticed the buttons at the bottom of the phone were sometimes lit and sometimes not. I went into the Verizon store today to pre-order the TV out cable and asked the tech about the lights. He said HTC was aware of several bugs and there will be an update shortly that will remedy them. On the TV out cables, they're all sold out. They're selling like hotcakes - same as the Incredible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNow the keyboard light has always worked, after that update yesterday, now my keyboard only lights up when clicking ALT which I cant type like that since it turns the keys into symbols.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use different ringtones for as many as 12 contacts so that I know who's calling me! Once in a while when the last person that has a dedicated ringtone calls me the default phone ringer set itself to that person's ringtone. I turned off my phone took the battery off and the rebooted, the problem goes away for a awhile and before you know it happens again! It's really bothersome when you think a particular person is calling you, (because of a ringtone) you answer and it someone else.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat I'm looking for is a way to do it and have it persist through different ROMS/wipes/etc.I was using Desktop Visualizer but when you make a shortcut with that it's technically a widget which doesn't get saved when you wipe and ROM.Any suggestions? I am rooted so if there's a way to do it that way I'm open to it. Does Bettercut do what I'm looking for?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone else having an issue with the Droid changing the wallpaper?
Today I took a call from the missus and when it ended and went back to the homescreen, the wallpaper had changed to that horrible yellow one. I've had this happen a couple of times now, once when exiting Messaging, and today, exiting the Phone.
Is there somewhere I can send a bug report to google for this? Anyone else had this happen? Is there a quick simple fix?
I changed the default Droid Sans font with Helvetica Neue (which looks gorgeous by the way) and rebooted, worked perfectly. I then decided to change the bold version as well, rebooted, but now I'm stuck at the red Droid eye loading screen over and over again (not the Motorola logo). It just loads for a couple seconds then flashes then repeats. I'm 100% sure I didn't misspell anything and I still have the backups of the fonts in the system folder but how can I now boot into the phone without factory resetting it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make it so that when I push the camera (red) button on my phone, it launches Vignette rather than the stock camera. Does anyone know how to do this. I tried going to the "manage applications" and clear defaults on the camera, but the camera is not an application that shows up. I even reinstalled Vignette, hoping that it would prompt me to pick the default app, but no joy.Anyone know how to change the default camera, or else remap the camera button?
View 2 Replies View RelatedToday I purchased a higher capacity micro sd card. There is a similar thread but no info on apps that are instaled to the card. View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently finally rooted my Droid, last week. I did it by using the DroidRootKit. Love t so far, have installed Bugles Beast and UD. Question, I am reading about changing kernels for faster speeds. How is this accomplished?
