So I'm coming from the LG Voyager and was hoping there is going to be a way to get all my contacts from my phone on the DROID without having to pay Verizon to transfer it. You guys know how this is going to work since it will probably be an issue that is going to pop up?

I use my cell phone contacts the most and would like to transfer them to my tablet. I don't use my gmail account as my primary email, but I use my home email acct. I have backed up my phone to Verizon cloud, but my tablet doesn't have an option of downloading contacts from the cloud and I get the contacts from FB and gmail.

And I want to transfer all my phone contacts across. On my Xperia, I've got "Phone contacts", and gmail contacts. I tried to import all my phone contacts by first exporting them to a simgle file, and transferring that file to the Samsung. And now I've got this vast list containing, it seems, everybody who I've ever called or emailed, including various names who I don't recognize at all. Is there any way (maybe a specialized app) of keeping my phone contacts and gmail contacts separate? And how do I manage my vast list of contacts?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm on 2.2 bugless beast .4 right now. Tonight I was transfering a movie to my phone via usb. Long story short, I needed to cancel the transfer in the middle and remove my phone. Now my phone is freezing like mad, and I absolutely can't connect to my computer (not to mention that freezes it completely.) Removing the SD card seems to help, but not much. Anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this?

Install Motorola Driver
Open Folder to View Files
Okay, should be the second option. But when I click on this (Open Folder), the only folder options I get are things like: Autorun, Config, Setup, etc.). No "folders" per se.

It will be my first Android phone and I'm looking forward to it! I have one simple question about this transition. I already have a Google account and have all my contacts saved there. I read a post a while back on here that if you don't have your phone numbers formatted in a certain way in your contact list, it may cause issues when transferring them to a new Android phone (multiple entries, missing entries, etc.).
Maybe that wasn't a correct statement, but I wanted to ask the question anyway. Are Android phones picky about phone number formats? For example, should I save them online as xxx-xxx-xxxx or maybe 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx instead? Or should I not save them with any hyphens? I just want a seamless transition of my contacts from my Google account to the new phone without a bunch of re-typing or deleting, etc.
I am looking for help in transferring to a replacement Droid. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a couple dozen ringtones that I made a while back and had them on my RAZR, then on my Rival. When I transferred them over to the Droid, then using the app Android and Rings Extended (no longer working - now coming up as 3rd party app) all my ringtones got significantly shortened.
I had them all set up as MP3 and small (220kb or less). Each one was 30 seconds long or less. Both applications hacked them off between 10 and 20 seconds. Anybody else having this issue?
I am having difficulty transferring music that I bought via the amazon mp3 store from my droid to my computer (a mac) and itunes. I know how to connect/mount my droid to the computer, and have successfully transferred amazon mp3's that I purchased in the past. Just recently, I began experiencing problems. When I try to drag and drop, I get error messages saying that the file cannot be transferred because it is "in use." Or when I attempt to drag and drop to itunes, basically itunes freezes and I have to force quit.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy dad and I both have the Droid; i'm in my early 20's, he's in his late 50's, and we both LOVE the phone.My dad is trying to transfer a video (in the .wmv format) to his Droid so he can watch it at any time. He can successfully transfer the video but when he goes to the gallery to find it he has a lot of trouble, sometimes the phone crashes and he can never find the file.Anyone have any ideas? Does he need a different media player? He is open to any new apps (free or not) and is very interested in finding a solution for this.

However, I want to make playlists via computer GUI and transfer that file. How do you do it. I can create play lists through the phone but that is tough using a phone.
I want to do it like I did with double twist and just copy that to my phone but for some reason now DT wont work on my phone. This is a huge deal breaker, transferring songs is ok, but I want to organize it/make play lists on my PC which is much easier and then transfer it over. i have seen some app transferring threads but my issue is a little different.I have my droid x already on my line and activated, my droid is just sitting on a shelf.I want some of he apps from the droid onto my droid x. These apps i want are no longer on the market though or now have restrictions on them like shazam and music junk How can i transfer the actual app?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid.When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)

After searching and reading Im coming to the sad realization that the Bluetooth does not function correctly on the Hero? I just wanted to do a simple transfer of the contacts from my Instinct to the Hero? I dont want to use Google or any other email. Im surprised because there was no problem transferring my contacts from the Instinct to the Moment using Bluetooth. Both the Moment and the Hero have the same Android operating system so why is this happening?
I got my DroidX on 7/15 and on 7/16 linked all my phone contacts who have facebook to a facebook contact via social networking. I kike how the phone sets the picture, I like that in the contact entry it shows me thier status on facebook. What I don't like is that when I open up a contac that is both a phone contact and a facebook contact and I tap the facebook icon on the contact screen I get 3 options (view profile, write on wall, and poke). If I open up a contact that is only facebook and tap that same Icon I get 4 options (view profile, message, write on wall, and poke). Is there some reason linking the facebook contact to a phone contact needs to remove that option? I'd like to be able to send a facebook message from the phone to any contact as easy as I can send a text message.

For instance if you add someone as a friend on facebook and they have their email and phone number filled out in their profile, that information would automatically be added to your phone. I don't want all of my Facebook "friends" to show up in my contact list on my phone but I would like Facebook data to sync for my actual contacts in my Google contact list. Has anyone figured this out?

I hate Google's contact interface - it crashes Internet Explorer half the time - so I want to edit my contacts on my Droid and have them get updated on Google contacts. I tried this, but when I sync, the google data overwrites what is on my Droid. I've lost a lot of changes already. I tried deleting the contact in Google thinking the Droid contact would then become dominant, but the contact just got deleted on my Droid. But when I add a new contact on the Droid, it does go to Google. So it seems that all the existing Google contacts only sync one way - from google down to the Droid. I must change this. I need updates to happen both ways or else I need to make changes only go up to Google from the Droid.

I am already not happy with the phones ability to get my mail from hotmail but will deal with that later. Has anyone else sync'd their hotmail contacts to the droid contact list.
