Motorola Droid 2 :: Transferring Playlists Possible?
Sep 10, 2010
I downloaded the V Cast Media manager and I imported my playlists from iTunes. I transferred everything to my D2 but it only transferred the Songs. Not the playlists. Is there a way to transfer by playlist or do I have to manually move songs into playlists on my phone?

Is there a way to manage playlists from the pc without having to sync with a seperate program like doubletwist or mediamonkey. I just want to manipulate playlists without having to worry about keeping 14gb of mp3s on my pc.

In USB mode, I copied several music specific folders, like "John Mayer" for instance, from my PC to my Droid 2 music folder. They show up fine under Artists, Albums, Songs and Playlists. However, there are a bunch of other entries in my playlist menu, some of them 2 or 3 times. They are probably from past attempts. How do I get rid of them ?
Using the 'Files' utility > phone files > music folder just the ones I want are there. Where the heck are the others, and how to delete them? Thanks for the help, I need it, I'm old :-) LOVE MY DROID 2

Can playlists be created on the computer and transfered to the Droid's media player? I have some pretty extensive playlist in iTunes and seaching and recreating them on the Droid would be a PITA. Do any of the iTunes sync apps sync playlists?

So I was originally using Double Twist which was great until I changed up a couple of playlists. So I deleted all the files off media card and I am now using Salling, which is way better. But now when I go to Music I have Double Playlist one with music and one empty. I have gone through the sd card and don't see anything in there or any reference to Double Twist, any ideas how to delete these empty playlists?

Having a problem with MML. It works great with syncing all my music from my Itunes. But, I can't figure out why it syncs on its own and duplicates my playlists. In addition, the playlists are blank/empty no music on them. I use the Droid X stock player and have to manually delete all the empty playlists. This is getting to me. What can I do?

I assume when you create a playlist on the Droid X it creates an M3U file right? If so, where is it located?

So I'm coming from the LG Voyager and was hoping there is going to be a way to get all my contacts from my phone on the DROID without having to pay Verizon to transfer it. You guys know how this is going to work since it will probably be an issue that is going to pop up?

Is there any way to transfer everything (apps, settings etc)from one Droid to another, like the switch device option on the Blackberry Desktop Manager?I just spent 4 hrs customizing my phone just to find a dead pixel on the screen and need to have it swapped out. Don't want to go through it all over again.

I'm on 2.2 bugless beast .4 right now. Tonight I was transfering a movie to my phone via usb. Long story short, I needed to cancel the transfer in the middle and remove my phone. Now my phone is freezing like mad, and I absolutely can't connect to my computer (not to mention that freezes it completely.) Removing the SD card seems to help, but not much. Anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this?

I'm just trying to transfer the pictures I've taken on the Droid X so far to my PC. However, when I plug the phone into my laptop (via provided USB cable), the only two options I get are:
Install Motorola Driver
Open Folder to View Files
Okay, should be the second option. But when I click on this (Open Folder), the only folder options I get are things like: Autorun, Config, Setup, etc.). No "folders" per se.

I purchased Beautiful Widgets last week so I could check it out before I got my Droid X. I get my Droid X delivered tomorrow and I want to know how I can get Beatiful Widgets (on my Droid currently) on my Droid X without purchasing it again? I know it is only $2.00, but if it can be done easily, hey why spend the money.

I recently came across a web site that described a piece of software that could be installed on a Mac computer to make transferring files a bit more automatic. This is part of the description: "On Motorola's phones, like the Droid X, there's an app that they really want you to install on your Windows or Mac system, and it makes sense to do so. It pops up whenever your Droid phone is detected."

Unless I am entirely missing something (which is certainly possible), I can't seem to easily create a playlist based on all music in a *folder* using the stock music player. I have to select each song one-by-one out of a list of all my songs on the phone, which is tedious and time-consuming. If I'm missing it, please let me know. In the meantime, I downloaded a very basic player called "Player." It does allow you to create playlists based on all music in a folder.
When you navigate to a music folder and select some or all of the music in the folder to play, "Player" creates a temporary playlist with all of the music selected. NOTE: A message pops up saying ONE song has been added to the playlist, but this is incorrect (unless you've only selected one to play). If you've chosen multiple or all of the songs in the folder to play, it actually creates the playlist with all the selected songs in it. Since the playlist created is a temporary playlist, so you must go into the "playlist" area to rename it to what you want. If you don't, then the next time you select a folder to play music from, it will likely overwrite the first temporary playlist with the new one.
It's actually very, very easy (much easier than scrolling through to select each song). The playlists created by "Player" automatically show up in the stock music player as well and can be played there. One negative to "Player" is that it appears to display the wrong album art. If that's a big deal, then simply revert to the stock player and run your playlists from there. I realize there are other music apps in the markets, so this wouldn't apply if you prefer one of those, obviously.

This is proving to be much more difficult than I thought. I need to get a long string of text messages off my phone and into a document that I can print out and save on a computer. I have tried to get into the system files using a file manager app.

I have a couple dozen ringtones that I made a while back and had them on my RAZR, then on my Rival. When I transferred them over to the Droid, then using the app Android and Rings Extended (no longer working - now coming up as 3rd party app) all my ringtones got significantly shortened.
I had them all set up as MP3 and small (220kb or less). Each one was 30 seconds long or less. Both applications hacked them off between 10 and 20 seconds. Anybody else having this issue?

I am having difficulty transferring music that I bought via the amazon mp3 store from my droid to my computer (a mac) and itunes. I know how to connect/mount my droid to the computer, and have successfully transferred amazon mp3's that I purchased in the past. Just recently, I began experiencing problems. When I try to drag and drop, I get error messages saying that the file cannot be transferred because it is "in use." Or when I attempt to drag and drop to itunes, basically itunes freezes and I have to force quit.

My dad and I both have the Droid; i'm in my early 20's, he's in his late 50's, and we both LOVE the phone. My dad is trying to transfer a video (in the .wmv format) to his Droid so he can watch it at any time. He can successfully transfer the video but when he goes to the gallery to find it he has a lot of trouble, sometimes the phone crashes and he can never find the file.Anyone have any ideas? Does he need a different media player? He is open to any new apps (free or not) and is very interested in finding a solution for this.

So Double twist wont work for me with my droid. Now music is a big part of my phone and what I want it to do. I have dragged and dropped my songs fine. However, I want to make playlists via computer GUI and transfer that file. How do you do it. I can create play lists through the phone but that is tough using a phone.
I want to do it like I did with double twist and just copy that to my phone but for some reason now DT wont work on my phone. This is a huge deal breaker, transferring songs is ok, but I want to organize it/make play lists on my PC which is much easier and then transfer it over. Any help with DT or making a play list using Itunes/Zune/DT and transferring it over using drag/drop?

Ive been looking everywhere and still cant seem to do it but manually, but is there any program possible that I can sync Playlists from say iTunes that are in m3u format and it will show up as a playlist on my Droid? The only way that i found possible is by making the playlist each time i add a song to it and loading it to the Droid, which is a pain. And Songbird doesnt really support the Droid yet.

I've tried several different methods for getting one of my iTunes playlists moved to the Eris but I'm having a difficult time. I finally just dragged and dropped a bunch of music over but how do I organize that into a playlist? Do I have to do it from the Eris itself (which involves adding every single song, one by one)? I have tried mounting the SD card and creating a playlist folder under the main music folder but that doesn't seem to work. The playlist is already created on the Eris and I moved a few songs over for testing, but when the card is mounted to the PC I can't find how the playlist is stored.....am I making any sense? Sure hope so.
