I plan on getting my "Android born on freshness date" next Friday with the EVO 4!
I've got a boat load of contacts I need to move over to the EVO, can it be done relatively seamless by data cable/software...or am I stuck with a manual transfer of each contact?

I have just bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 - very nice looking device - to replace my old and clunky Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. And I want to transfer all my phone contacts across. On my Xperia, I've got "Phone contacts", and gmail contacts. I tried to import all my phone contacts by first exporting them to a simgle file, and transferring that file to the Samsung. And now I've got this vast list containing, it seems, everybody who I've ever called or emailed, including various names who I don't recognize at all. Is there any way (maybe a specialized app) of keeping my phone contacts and gmail contacts separate? And how do I manage my vast list of contacts?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently a Blackberry 8330 user and will be upgrading to either the Droid X or Droid 2 later this Summer. It will be my first Android phone and I'm looking forward to it! I have one simple question about this transition. I already have a Google account and have all my contacts saved there. I read a post a while back on here that if you don't have your phone numbers formatted in a certain way in your contact list, it may cause issues when transferring them to a new Android phone (multiple entries, missing entries, etc.).
Maybe that wasn't a correct statement, but I wanted to ask the question anyway. Are Android phones picky about phone number formats? For example, should I save them online as xxx-xxx-xxxx or maybe 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx instead? Or should I not save them with any hyphens? I just want a seamless transition of my contacts from my Google account to the new phone without a bunch of re-typing or deleting, etc.
Does anybody know if any accessories for the BB storm are compatible with the Incredible? I wanted to see if my BB car charger would work with my Incredible....or would this mess the phone up?

I have backed up my phone to Verizon cloud, but my tablet doesn't have an option of downloading contacts from the cloud and I get the contacts from FB and gmail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some questions concerning importing contacts to the device, which is extremely slow.
First of all, if you delete all your contacts, google sync will restore it very quickly. However, when my app is adding contacts to the device, it's very slow (a few contacts per second). Even if I add almost empty contacts (with name only), it is a time-consuming process.
If I turn google sync off, importing 5000 contacts can take 1-2 hours (on HTC Magic). When google sync is on it can take up to 24hours. And this happens despite the fact, that application for the whole time is in the foreground, device is connected to charger and screen is on. I checked the logcat to make sure my app is adding the contacts the whole time, and it is.
I tried different methods and different devices. The results differ of course, yet manually adding contacts is always significantly slower that google sync. Is there any way that I can speed up the process? So that importing 5000 contacts will take less than an hour.
Is there an app that does this or can it be done manually?

After searching and reading Im coming to the sad realization that the Bluetooth does not function correctly on the Hero? I just wanted to do a simple transfer of the contacts from my Instinct to the Hero? I dont want to use Google or any other email. Im surprised because there was no problem transferring my contacts from the Instinct to the Moment using Bluetooth. Both the Moment and the Hero have the same Android operating system so why is this happening?
I just set up my contacts in Outlook as I like them, and want to start fresh on my HTC Dream. I am using HTC Sync. Is there a way to delete all contacts from the device, then upload them again fresh?

This is my scenario: I've got my android tablet (the asus transformer) and I have 3 accounts set up there, 2 are gmail accounts (say, account A and account B) and a third corporate account (exchange activesync, call it account C)
I used account B when I was in my last job and have a lot of business contacts there. What I want to do is to have a simple way of copying some of these business contacts over to the exchange account (account C). I also would like to copy a couple from account A (personal stuff) into account C.
Just got my greasy hands on a HTC Hero and loving it. I have used HTC to transfer my Outlook contacts to the phone as a one-off but even though I have "Sync Contacts" enabled (Home->Settings->Data Sync->Google->Contacts) on the phone I don't see these contact details when I log into Gmail on my Win PC and click contacts? Incidentally my calendar syncs from Hero to Gmail/calendar perfectly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThrough a couple boneheaded mishaps when moving to one of the 2.1 ROMs, I managed to wipe out all my Outlook contacts I had stored on my company's exchange server.
I won't go into all the details, but it happened when I tried to restore some data I had backed up before upgrading to the new ROM, and I forgot to uncheck "contacts" from the stuff I was restoring. Some process croaked when the restore was done, causing some silliness with my Google contacts, but also wiping out my Exchange contacts on the phone as well as on the server.
The good news is I have a full NAND backup from before I upgraded the ROM, so I can jump back to that to access my contacts. Problem is, I can't get them to sync remotely with the Exchange server. They also won't sync (or "reverse-sync" if that is the correct term) with Outlook when I use the latest version of the HTC Sync software.
So basically, I can't find a way to move the contacts from the phone to the Exchange server. What I want to do is get those contacts from my old NAND backup, move them to Outlook/Exchange, and then have them sync 'naturally' from the Exchange server to my phone, while running the new ROM I have installed.
I'm okay with having to do a NAND backup of what I'm currently running, restore the old backup to extract the contacts somehow, and then restoring the 'new' NAND backup, but I can't figure out how to manually copy the contacts so I can then import them into Outlook.
Most of my Android contacts are listed as "device" under the "connection" heading. About 10% of my contacts are listed as either "google" or as "google" and "device". The contacts that are have Google under the Connection heading auto-sync to Google+, the remaining 90% of my contacts don't sync.
Is there a way to edit/change the Connection type to add Google to all my contacts?

I recently moved to Sprint, where I have an HTC Hero on the way soon. I'm curious if the Google account I originally used with my Nexus One is linked to the applications I've already purchased and if by using that same account when my Hero arrives if I will be able to install those same applications w/o having to repurchase them.
