Mar 30, 2010On a rooted droid, can OTA update notifications easily be turned back on? If so, maybe we should all do it and increase the odds of catching the update.zip.

Motorola Droid :: How Do I Turn Off USB Debugging Notification?
Mar 5, 2010This is really minor, but it's annoying to me to have an icon in my notification bar up top that USB debugging is connected. I realize I have to have the USB debugging option checked in settings, but it's annoying that this notification icon appears whenever I plug the phone into the computer.How do I disable this icon?

Aug 17, 2010I know I am going to be embarrassed by this, but how do I just turn it off.I downloaded a ringtone from Mabilo sounds it was fee, but now I cant figure out how to turn it off.When I go into settings and notification ringtones, its not there.Even if it were and I could uncheck it, there is no option for no notification at all. Wat am I missing?

I tried out chompsms recently, but I just didn't like the way it working compared to the regular messaging system. My friend somehow turned off the notifications for the built in messaging system, so now that I've uninstalled chomp, I don't know when I get messages. I can't figure out how to turn it back on. I've looked all through the settings.

Jul 27, 2010I keep getting a tone about every 30 minutes, I think its a notification that I have email. I don't mind the first time getting a message alert, but every 30 minutes gets kinda annoying. Anyone know how to turn it off? I do have handcent but that notification is turned off.

Sep 21, 2010A text message or e-mail arrives, the notification alarm starts and I have to pull the phone out of the holder, press home to wake up the phone, press menu, then notifications to stop it. That seems like a lot of steps. Is there a setting I am missing to press the volume button or power button the stop the tone? Maybe an application? I know it times out at some point but by then I am sure anyone around me is annoyed at hearing "Check it out" being played over and over.

Motorola Droid X :: Email Notification Time Keeps Going Back
Oct 6, 2010This seems to be because of 2.2, it didn't do it before the update. I have it set to "face book pop" but after awhile it goes back to "droid". It's not that big a deal but it sure is annoying. That "droid" tone was neat for like five minutes then got on my nerves so I changed to the more subdued noise. I wonder if anyone else is having this issue or maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Motorola Droid :: Mail Notification - Why Pulling Back Old Email
Nov 18, 2009I have a question regarding the mail feature of the Droid. I have three accounts setup. One Gmail, one Yahoo and one Hotmail (yep...I like all flavors).
I can send and receive mail without issue but for some reason with the Yahoo and the Hotmail account, the Droid will seem to pull "old" email back onto the device and mark it as new and light up the indicator. This gives then shows that I have new mail but it really isn't new but it is old, previously read email that has been deleted and pulled back onto the device.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Died After Attempted Software Update Will Not Turn Back On?
Oct 14, 2010I connected my X10 to my computer two days ago and was prompted to perform a software update which I chose to do believing it would get rid of some ongoing issues I've been having with the phone
The computer found the phone ok, then PC companion prompted me to disconnect the phone from the USB cable, making sure the battery was at least 50% full (it was), switch off the phone and wait at least 5 seconds (waited 30), then plug it back into the USB while pressing and holding the "Back" key.
All of this I did according to instructions, and the information on the screen said it was downloading the update, but broke down and stated that an unexpected error occured during installation. I was prompted to try again, which I did, same thing happened.
At this point the phone just shut down and point blank refuses to turn back on. I tried removing the battery and putting it back in, nothing, I also tried to charge it thinking maybe it was drained during the attempted update (power surge?) and again, nothing.
When I try to switch it back on while it is not connected to a charger or the computer the light flashes red three times. When I connect it to the computer it turns green for a few seconds then goes off again. Currently it's flashing red every few seconds, but will still not switch on.
My biggest problem is - if I take it in to be serviced, will they be able to retrieve my contacts from the phone memory? A backup was done but I no longer have access to this either as I had to reinstall my computer system and this data disappeared (i have a bunch of empty SE folders on my backup disk)
I'm in Croatia and support here are very, very fond of flashing the software as the easiest way out and swearing blind there is nothing they can do to keep the data - if nothing else I'd appreciate feedback from anyone else who has experienced this problem and got their phone back with contacts intact so I can argue more coherently when I take it in to the store tomorrow
I honestly don't care about any of the other data than my contacts, the rest is replaceable, but I have no way of contacting a lot of the people to get their numbers again.

Motorola Droid :: Update Killed My Phone - Will Not Even Turn Off Unless Take The Battery Out
Apr 4, 2010Yesterday I clicked the update button on my droid, and now my droid is dead, all that appears is the motorola logo, even after pulling the battery. Of course technical support at Verizon has no clue what is wrong. The phone will not even turn off unless i take the battery out, the motorola logo shows until the phone goes dead.
As this is my second droid, I don't know that I want a 3rd one. My opinion is that the droid would be a neat smartphone-- if it worked. I doubt that anyone could ever consider using the droid as a business phone, since it randomly quits working. I've had many cell phones and blackberries and never had to return any of them.
I have the best buy protection plan, but not sure that entitles me to a new or different phone, since my droid is about 3 months old.

So i decided well might as well get the official one right? so i tried to install it but then it goes to the rooted reboot screen and i just press reboot now. couple days later i get the update in the notification bar again.

Mar 20, 2010Turned on my phone this morning and besides getting emails I had an update notification. I used the advanced task killer before I actually clicked on anything and the update disappeared on me. I know, shouldnt have done that, just force of habbit when I first turn on the phone everyday. Anyhow, I re-booted my phone thinking it might come back and it didnt. I then checked for system updates on the phone and it said there werent any. Aug 6, 2010I can open gmail and then it goes back to the home screen, when I delete an app I suddenly get a notification that an app has an update (EVERY TIME I delete an app). My weather widget was reading 32 degrees all day yesterday and I noticed that the settings were changed to celcius. What really sucks is I am in the middle of buying a house and I email back and forth with the lender on my phone. Oh and the battery never got any better I can barely get 4hrs out of it.
