I have rooted, running bugless beast overclocked to 850. When the Official Update comes out. I want to be able to download it. Where can I get a legitimate stock ROM in case. I need it later. I did search the forums but with the word stock or ROM almost every thread gets a hit. I ended up replacing my backup with something else.

Finally couldn't take it any longer and installed the RUU then hours later I hear that the Official update.zip is slightly different with a change to gmail (and frankly, at this point, who knows what else.) Also I am seeing "make sure you have the correct "baseband"(?) So for me and I would imagine a few others. Can someone make this a nice clean and complete how to get from RUU to update.zip thread? I have seen a lot of bits and pieces of what it takes.

I have a stock ADP, firmware 1.0, no updates no mods and of course I want to get the latest features such as voice control, latitude etc, and so begins the fun. Why is there nothing official that can be easily found which states what is going on for people that own the ADP? I must have read dozens of articles showing update procedures and claiming to have leaked OFFICIAL developer updates and only recently did i find 2 thread that eventually end with something stating there is NO official update for developer phones yet.
I have 2 gripes about this:
1. Why no official and clear statement from the development team to clarify this before people start scrambling desperately to install leaked versions that are false? (I know I almost did) 2. Why as a developer do I have to wait for features that are already available to end users?
I just updated my phone with some 2.1 from another android site, and its definitely not the one i've been seeing that will be released from verizon. My big worry is if i will still be able to get the real one or not?

It supposedly finishes and after it reboots I get stuck @ the Motorola "M" screen indefinitely. After that it wouldn't start up @ all and wouldn't respond to anything. So now I'm attempting an SBF root. Is this the right thing to do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know where I can find an update.zip to revert back to the stock kernel? I have suddenly found myself in a boot-loop for no apparent reason. I have been running NexBeast 0.9 for a few days without issue and today my phone ran out of battery. When I set it on my home dock it turned on, but it is just in a continuous boot loop right now. Sometimes it gets to the lock screen, other times it doesnt even get that far, before going back to the "Droid" text logo and then then red eye boot animation again.
To top it off, it looks like there is something wrong with the micro-USB port on my droid...it is VERY touchy and I cant even get it to connect to my laptop anymore so that I can get into an ADB shell
I am new to this whole droid scene and I had 2.0.1 rooted and rommed out but I am currently running stock 2.1 and wanted to know if there is any info on the progress of a new root process to root this firmware version. I really liked having the ability to control all aspects of my phone, including the nandroid recovery. I don't want to risk bricking my phone by trying to revert back to 2.0.1 using the RSD program.

The droidmod forums are a goddamn ghost town, so I've decided to update to 2.1. Hopefully it will fix my problem. Now that my phone is unrooted, how can I force it to check for the 2.1 update? I remember reading about a number sequence that one dials, which forces the phone to check for updates.

Anyone have an explanation for this? I read that it has something to do with a different HBOOT, but I'm not really understanding it. Do you think we will every be able to get the OTA so that we can go root? After the official 2.1 update, my service has been getting slowly worse. The is a tower a half a mile down the road from me, and at random times the Eris will say I have no service. But I know it's not just the tower because I still don't get service randomly at places it's usually fine.
