I see this square bar code looking image on a lot of android sites. what is this and how does it work? It appears to be somekind of identifier for apps and such.

I have written a simple map application using the Google API. I have the apikey set and the map displays properly on the android phone. However, there is always a red square on the bottom left of the map, that I don't know how to get rid off. The code for that can be downloaded near the bottom of the page. It leaves you with a white square, and I want to apply a texture to it, which this tutorial series doesn't cover. I can't figure out how to texture my white square, in Android.
when I'm at work I want Tasker to automatically forward my calls to my work phone. It can do that w/ its autodial feature. Now, I know that *72 will forward my calls to the number I specify, and *73 will disable that once I leave the defined area. The problem is that I use YouMail, and apparently *73 is the code for disabling the *71 busy/answer forwarding as well. It seems stupid that verizon used one code to disable 2 different features. How do I disable the *72 feature w/o disabling the *71 one?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had some fairly simple code in my app to invoke Edit Contact activity on a known good contact index that worked in Android 1.6 but is broken for me now in Android 2.1 on the Droid. I built a sample activity/app 'EdCon' to show this:

When I run this on my G1 running 1.6 it works as expected i.e. brings up the Edit Contact screen for the known index and then I can hit BACK to return to "Hello World, EdCon". Code...

I would like to release a "beta" application for testing but would like to make sure it will only work while I have the application officially in beta.
Just as the title says, I am wondering if the GPS on the Droid will be able to connect and work without the phone being activated on Verizon. I would have an offline GPS app that has all the maps downloaded so I wouldn't need a 3G connection. Would the phone still be able to pick up the satellites and my position even if m not on Verizon?

My second question is my Droid is rooted with BB 0.4, is that going to be an issue when I go into the Verizon store? I've only gotten it to work once and I have no idea how I did it...When the headphones are plugged in I can hear the caller but they can't hear me, but once I unplug the headphones the normal mic input on the phone works correctly and the caller can hear me just fine. Are there settings that I need to adjust in order for the iphone headphones to work with DX?

I need help with understanding kernels, so far all I am able to find is that I need to find out what kernels work with my phone through trial and error because even if its the same phone a kernel may work for one person but not another. So to understand what a working kernel actually is like, I need to know what apps I need in order to see the product of an installed kernel. I know they have to do with getting the fastest processor speed, while getting the longest battery life, while getting the least amount of heat from the phones battery and processor.I figure to know if a kernel is cooperating well with my droid I need to know what is a normal battery/processor temperature for the motorola droid1? and what are kernel slots? what are standard/med/low voltages?I figure battery life is up to me to decide if it is good or not.
