Aug 12, 2010call quality been on the X? I have spent a lot of time in the forums here learning about the phone's capabilities and havent once thought about the phone being used as a. However, that is a good thing, because I have had great clear calls which was in contrast to my previous phone, so since the phone has been working as it should, I havent thought about it. But my calls (listening to the person on the other end, and how they say I sound) have been pretty near perfect.

Aug 8, 2010Still debating on which phone to buy. With the droid x the major concern is soft volume (some phones seem softer than others); rumors of over heating and wifi issues.
Is there a known hack to fix the volume issue; or has Motorola ack the issue and have publically indicated a fix is in the works? Next weekend is no-tax weekend (in Ma) so I might try to pick a phone up then...
I'm pretty sure the wifi issue is a firmware problem (shame on moto for using an encrypted boot loader and having bugs like this one); not sure if overheating is limited to a few phones or is a design issue.
Anyways please add comments (negative and positive) relative to alternatives (samsung s and evo are major contenders). With the samsung the major negative is it pauses now and then and also have soft volume (there is a fix for the gps issue); for evo the major negative is +$10 and poor battery life (this phone is nice and loud) also the display is a bit dimmer than the droid x (an issue for outdoor usage).

Apr 5, 2010I am hard to impress and this device really impresses me. No bugs or issues yet that I haven't been able to fix. Camera works great. Screen is beautiful. Everything is solid. Call quality is great. Signal is rock solid (better, in fact, than my old LG, which was itself good). GPS is crazy accurate (can tell which couch I'm sitting on within the same room).
Motorola, Google, and Verizon is a team that's hard to match if the owner is ready to invest the time in setting up the device properly.

Motorola Droid :: Call Quality - Choppiness - Static - And Muffled Voice?
Dec 13, 2009I have really enjoyed everything about the Droid in the 5 days I've had it, except call quality. I switched from an iPhone 3G and the droid can do everything my iPhone could and more, and then I placed a phone call.
My phone was updated to 2.0.1 right at the Verizon store. I left, made a call, and am now regretting leaving my iPhone. I get horrible choppiness, static, and muffled voice on my end. On the other end everyone I call can hear me great. I have tried the *228 options 1 and 2, changing to evrc-b(or whatever it was called) and 13k, privacy off, basically every setting i could find.
Went to the Verizon store, the saleswoman said it was normal and that all phones do that. I laughed, said I was gonna quit this "awesome network" and go back to "crap" AT&T, then they exchanged the phone no problem. Of course this fixed nothing and here I am making phone calls and repeating, "what did you say?" until I can make out some words.
Don't get me wrong, I like Verizon and I've had them before and I never had any issues with call quality, which brings me to believe it's strictly the phone. I may have gotten the occasional dropped call on the iPhone(once a week at most) but at least my calls were all clear.
HTC Incredible :: Way To Increase In-call Volume On Phone?
Apr 30, 2010First of all, I love my incredible, but I'm afraid my in-call volume is very low. I've turned the rocker all the way up, and it's still very low. Speaker works great on the other hand. Anyone else having these issues, or maybe mine's just low?

Feb 11, 2010I use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)

I am using the exact same custom ringtones I made for my Droid on my Droid X and my Droid X is much, much lower on ringer volume, even at max setting. Due to this, I am missing tons of text messages and a bunch of phone calls when I am in a place that has even slight noise. On my Droid, I could hear my ringer even in the noisiest of places. I can't hardly hear my Droid X in the quiet places. Are there any tips, tricks, or hacks that can increase the overall volume on the X?

Sep 16, 2010Does anyone else get bad quality at medium to higher volumes through normal calls (not speakerphone). Anything over two notches from muted gives me a wierd vibrating noise when the other end is talking semi high pitched and consistently. It sounds almost robotic or like paper. I didnt know if this was just my phone, the majority, or all epics suffer from this problem.

1. I tested the signal strength at 5 locations. All locations had great 3g speeds for all the phones. The first INC is an original phone, and the second INC is a replacement.

My question is, how can i have GREAT 3g speeds with all the phones, yet have a terrible signal strength. I'm on my 2nd phone and still have the same issues. ( So its not a bad batch)
2. The first thing the other 2 users of the phones mentioned right out of the box there was a very defined echo. The echo was of their own voice, not the other person on the line. I've noticed it on and off, but nothing to bad. People also complain they can hear the echo, making us hard to hear on the phone. I really like the Incredible, but I guess unless someone from Verizon tells me to wait for an update, or someone here has a solution Im gonna have to go back to the Blackberry. Anyone else having the same problems?....

Jan 20, 2010Does anyone actually have decent voice quality on their Motorola Droid? I am on my fourth DROID and so far every call I have made people have complained that I sound muffled. I know there are a slew of threads on this, especially on Motorola's forums, but no one has an answer. Some people say they do have good voice quality. I am wondering who does and if they can post recordings of their voice quality. The Droid is an excellent device, however it should always first be a phone. It absolutely sux in that department, and I am seriously considering exchanging for an old fashioned flip within my 30 days from verizon. My RAZR and RAZR2 were far superior.

Oct 14, 2010I don't remember my DroidX always doing this, but recently after I hang-up from a call it shows the "Call Time XX:XX" in the center of the screen and I can't do anything until it goes away, which is generally 5-8 seconds. Hitting Home, Back, etc does nothing and tapping on the screen or the message also does nothing.Is this a setting I can disable? I can look at the recent calls to get the length of call if I need to see it, so I don't need the dramatic pause to give me this info.

Nov 29, 2009I have had my droid for 21 days now. The first week I was frustrated because I could not use my "backup assistant" which I have used for a long time to transfer my contacts. ( im sure they will come up with an "app" for that soon, and it works very differently than my old LG. Once I worked through the basics of using the phone I started to notice I have very poor reception at my home. (This is really bugging me because my husband has the FREE LG flip phone and has perfect service everywhere in the house) I buy the best and he gets the free phone and he talks anywhere but I have to go out on the back porch or stand by the back door with my head against the window in order to talk to somehone. Part of me really wants to return it for that reason alone, but I love the other features of the phone and don't know if I want to give them up. Has anyone else had issues with poor signal quality>

Jul 20, 2010So since the recent update, I noticed that the call audio quality is MUCH better than it was before. Everything sounds more clear and detailed than it used to, and even my girlfriend said that she can hear me more clearly than before. I believe improved audio was on the list of things addressed by the update.

Aug 4, 2010when I'm at work I want Tasker to automatically forward my calls to my work phone. It can do that w/ its autodial feature. Now, I know that *72 will forward my calls to the number I specify, and *73 will disable that once I leave the defined area. The problem is that I use YouMail, and apparently *73 is the code for disabling the *71 busy/answer forwarding as well. It seems stupid that verizon used one code to disable 2 different features. How do I disable the *72 feature w/o disabling the *71 one?
