I thought I'd make this thread to show some newcomers a decent app list, and home screen setup. Aug 6, 2010Set it up last night and went through the basic set up screens that pop up automaticall. I set up the email account I use all the time but also set up a GMAIL account as I had read that Android really likes to sync with GMAIL. Once these were done I then set up a couple of things on the home screens and then thought right, time to get some apps. Clicked on the Market icon, selcted a couple of things to download, like google voice control app, clicked ok. Download seemed to start but withing 10 seconds in the notification bar I got an error saying download unsuccessful please try later.
Now basically all I have done is set up the very basics on a brand new phone, created a brand new GMAIL account, just with username and password, and thats it. I have also tried a full factory reset of the phone and starting over, but still no good. Is there something else I need to do, that the phone isn't prompting me to do or is there something wrong somewhere.

I saw the different "scenes" that are pre-loaded but I was interested in how others have theirs set up. Right now mine are all sort of random as I haven't yet figured out a good system for me.

Sep 17, 2010Does anyone know how to setup shortcut icons to specific home screens? This includes using any launcher out there. I know you can't do it in TouchWiz, even though if you press on any of the home screen indicators (the dots at the top) you can fast path to that screen. I tried launcher pro - but could not figure it out - that could be user error. The reason I want this, is to keep my home page clean and have a few icons at the bottom to get to certain pages without having to scroll. (examples music, tools, car, shopping).

Sep 1, 2010Well I encountered a really weird and not pleasent experience with my x10 today. I had it charging overnight like probably everyone who has one does and than I unplugged it to get started for the day. However, when I unplugged it from the usb cord, the screen got locked and flashed. So I turned it off and turned it back on. Well when it came back on, I had LOST everything that I had setup on my 3 screens! No icons, no nothing! Everything was gone except for the wallpaper or theme, which was the same I had setup. I did have ADW setup as my launcher, but all my launchers were gone as well. When I held down the center button, which would normally bring up my launcher option, it brought me to the homescreen.
So now I have to go through and resetup all of the icons and screens. Not a big ordeal, but what is troubling me is why did it even happen?

Jul 6, 2010So I have a squeaky clean account with Verizon, four lines, all smart phones minus one phone. NEVER missed a payment and always upgraded. I have had plenty of problems with my phones but never complained too much or created issued. I have been very nice with them, but I've about hit my limit here.
We have a defective Moto Droid on our account, and a defective Incredible. They have already agreed to give me an X for my Incredible. But, they have sent us not one, but now 3 refurbrished phones that are crap. The screens have ALL been loose, and the build has been absolute crap compared to the original phone. They are sending me another one from a different warehouse tomorrow. I am so irritated. If I receieve another refurb with a loose screen and bad build I don't think I am going to be able to deal with Verizon very nicely.
What do you think I should do? Should I be nice and wait for ANOTHER refurb if this one is bad? Or should I get mad and tell them they can take there refurb backs and send me a NEW phone?
Motorola Droid : Best Homescreen App - JUST For More Than 3 Screens?
Mar 18, 2010Well we've pretty much all heard by now that 2.1 will not be including any more than 3 Home screens. I was REALLY hoping for 5, as 3 is not enough and I'd like more room to play with Widgets. Even with folders and some snazzy organizing it's still not great.
What's the status on Home Screen Replacement Apps? All I know about it Home++ but last I read it was pretty buggy and Force Closed quite a bit. I'm not looking for anything crazy I really just simply want more than 3 screens, 5-7 ideally...are there any apps out there that handle just this?

Dec 1, 2009I apparently deleted all of the screens somehow and what I'm currently using is a $2.99 application I believe called DXHome or something to that effect. It's not too bad is a diamond shaped key @ the bottom and basically only has 4 screens instead of 7.

Apr 19, 2010On 2.0.1 I gained 5 screens by rooting, deodexing, and using Xultimate to patch my launcher to give me 5 screens. Is there any procedure for 2.1 to achieve the same? I see how I can get up to the deodexing point, but I doubt the xultimate patcher would work on the 2.1 launcher.
