Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Re-setup All Of Icons And Screens

Well I encountered a really weird and not pleasent experience with my x10 today. I had it charging overnight like probably everyone who has one does and than I unplugged it to get started for the day. However, when I unplugged it from the usb cord, the screen got locked and flashed. So I turned it off and turned it back on. Well when it came back on, I had LOST everything that I had setup on my 3 screens! No icons, no nothing! Everything was gone except for the wallpaper or theme, which was the same I had setup. I did have ADW setup as my launcher, but all my launchers were gone as well. When I held down the center button, which would normally bring up my launcher option, it brought me to the homescreen.
So now I have to go through and resetup all of the icons and screens. Not a big ordeal, but what is troubling me is why did it even happen?

are the screens on the x10 truly capacitive?? is there a difference?. hardware, software? only asking because being the user of an i pod touch they are very different. with the x10 being much less responsive/error prone/over sensitive?. also reading this questions the type of screen Capacitive sensing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . especially the 'advantages' part about cleaning with cloths and accidental command inputs. which, im sad to say is wrong, because mine does, and also when in my pocket it has had 'accidental command inputs!' lalso if i squeeze the side of the phone it will input somthing random. all of which doesnt happen with my ipod touch!. so could the x10 be a mix of capacitive and resistive?

Have some problems with the settings..
1. How can i change the number of the desktop screens, i have 5 different screens right now but i only use 3..
2. How can i go back to my original screen? I have tried to kill the adw launcher but it just starts again.

I've checked the "orientation" box in the "sound and display" settings menu, but the Home and Menu screens will not auto-orient when my X10 mini pro is rotated. It only works when the keyboard is slid open - applications don't seem to have this problem. This is a recent issue, probably in the last couple of days. i've tried reinstalling the software via PC Companion and SEUS, in addition to a "factory reset," but they haven't solved anything. Is there something wrong with the accelerometer or is it a software issue that can be resolved with the next software update (2.1)?

I've been reading up on some threads about other phones and how their screens crack internally when put in some jean pockets that are a little tight. I've had my phones and my old iPhone in some tighter jeans and haven't seen that problem. I hear it's a something serious with the Nexus One so I wanted to see if anyone here experienced that?

Okay, finally did the upgrade from 1.6 to 2.1.The only problem I am having now is connecting to the Internet with the phone. On wifi, everything works, but I can't seem to setup the APN or use the appropriate information. I am on tmobile USA, can anyone provide me with their setting?I tried using the setting from tmobile forums but have no luck. Is anyone running into the same problem?

I am trying to get my Shaw mail on my Sony X10 using the Mail app that came on my phone, I know it works I have done it once before, but I had to send my phone in and get a replacement due to some issues, anyways I can get the incoming server to work witch is pop.shaw.ca but the outgoing one is where I am having problems, I have tried everything, but keep getting the same dead end.

This is driving me crazy! I got this phone to keep in touch with activity on the web forum and my e-mails for the charity I do work for (in between my normal job!!) But every time I try to set up my e-mails I get an error message stating "certificate error. Check that time and date are correct" well, I have and all is OK but am going round in circles - anyone had this problem and what did you have to do?

I have just got the x10 mini. i have set my hotmail account up on the email function and have gone into settings and set up to get notifications of new emails coming through. the problem i am having is that i only get the notifications when i physically go into the email function and refresh- which completely defeats the point of the function. Has anyone else had this problem, or have i not set it up correctly?

Fellas, I've got another question about my X10 Mini.I've been downloading many apps from Android Market and there are so many good ones, but also some others pretty awful.The thing is that unninstalling some apps from the phone leaves me gaps in the menu.I've got pages of the downer menu with only six icons, when the space allows 9. How can i re-arrange the icons to put them in order?Is there an option in the phone as it comes, or do I have to download an app from the market?

After updating to 2.1 I noticed something new in the Phonebook. Short pressing on a contact gave 3 icons regarding that contact; call, text and one other I can't remember. Since then I've re-installed the old apps including ADW launcher and now these 3 icons are nowhere to be found. How I can get these icons back?

My girlfriend recently bought a Sony Ericsson Xperia Android phone. For the most part, she loves it.
Except that Sony Ericsson has changed the emoticons in the chat application.
On my phone, an HTC-03A (aka HTC Magic), the emoticons look like little aliens. (Yes, I know they are supposed to be robots, like the Android logo, but my girlfriend thinks of them as "aliens" because they have antennae and are green).
On her phone, the Xperia, they changed the icons to use regular rounded yellow happy faces and so on.
She is miffed. She likes the aliens, and considers the phone somewhat "broken" without them.
So... suddenly it's a task in my life to see if I can change the Sony Ericsson emoticons to Android "alien" icons.
I had hoped it was a matter of simply changing some image files... however, from what I see on the web, it looks like I need to:
Gain access to a file on the phone called framework-res.apk
Copy that file to a computer.
Edit the file to put in the right icons.
Put it back on the phone
I am unclear on how exactly to do these steps. The discussions I've seen were among people who seemed to have a better understanding than me, and did not explain some aspects. For example, they took it for granted that the necessary files were accessible, however I can't see where framework-res.apk is.
I have not "rooted" an Android phone before, and I'm hoping I don't have to go to truly deep levels of phone software configuration that carries the risk of destabilizing either her phone or mine.
I'm assuming I can get the correct "alien" icons off of my phone to put on hers. (I notice they have those very same icons on this forum... is there a place I can download them as a set?)

By the 'arrange icons' option I seem to be only able to delete icons (or unistall the applications). I wonder how I could move them around, as in really *arrange* them. There's a weird thing happened. I have now 5 pages of icons, but the last spot on Page 4 is always left blank. Even if I install a new app, this spot won't fill up, the new icon would appear on Page 5. I wonder how I could get rid of such nuisance.

Just got the SE Xperia X10, I'm not sure what I click but it won't go to landscape anymore when I text. I really prefer texting in landscape mode. I just got the phone 3 days ago. I installed juice defender and task killer, I'm not sure if it has any thing to do with that.

I've just try to set the an email account on my X10 mini using the "Email" app.App ask for "Yahoo", "hotmail", and 2 others providers.I choose "hotmail" and enter account and password ok it's working.(my 50 messages are tagged "not read" and there is no way to tag all of them "read", but it's not the main problem now)But it was just a test, what I want is to setup my yahoo account.THE PROBLEM IS that now, when I open the "Email" app, it opens directly my hotmail account.

New to X8 and Android - was k850i user. I am trying to setup the X8 to work with my personal email, other than Gmail.My provider uses POP and SMTP servers. The POP server address is pop-server@xyz.site.com. The SMTP server address is smtp-server@xyz.site.com
I select the POP3 choice, I enter the POP server address and then the SMTP server address. At this point the "Continue" bar is present but grayed out - it cannot be selected. If I press the leftward return arrow at the bottom of the phone I am returned to email sign-in, the phone displays a spinner and then returns to the POP SMTP setup screen.

I borrowed a windows computer and updated to 2.1. Everything seemed fine until today. I noticed that the backup hadn't saved my email details so I attempted to setup it up from scratch to my isp's pop3 server (Zen Internet). I input my details over and over and kept getting server not found/ authentication wrong. Then I realised one of my password letters should have been capitalised... So, I thought that'll be it. reentered my details but this time the continue button won't work... No amount of pressing gets even an error message. So, I turned the phone on and off...Still no good and now the phone can't find the setup guide that I carefully copied over to a new 16gb mini sdcard...

I had downloaded Internet setup file from the SE site once in which the complete process is given to auto setup through the msg sent by SE site on my cell phone, where it asks your operator your cell no. then a msg will come on your cell phone from the site which u have to run in your cell phone and Internet setting will be done automatically. But now I am unable to find that section please send me the link of that section.

1) Please explain to me how to set up my hotmail account on the e-mail setup as i get an error message everytime i type the address and password in.
2)The Android website states I have entered my Credit Card details incorrectly everytime i try to purchase an app whether it's in dollars (eg Doodle Jump) Euro's etc
3)How can I put movies on my phone that are on my laptop?
Probably being laughed at but basic things that you don't get told unless you ask.

I downloaded some apps from Market. They all downloaded successfully but I cannot see them when i go to Menu and then click on the 'App' Icon. When i click on the 'App' Icon it says 'To add widgets open the vodafone shop and download your widgets' I already have the apps installed on the phone for sure, just need the shortcuts to appear under the 'App' button.

I hate to look at all the different icons of apps I don't use so is there a way to hide them? Not just take them to far far away screen, I mean really hide them. I decided not to try root the phone because I don't have knowledge and will just ruin it.
