View 8 RepliesJust ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I did a factory reset and all of my downloaded applications were still there. I thought it clears all of your downloaded apps and it was supposed to clear all of my settings. Such as display and sound settings which it also didn't do. Is this the way its supposed to work or not.

My question: How do you restore app data from Google servers after a factory reset?
When I upgraded from Gingerbread to ICS, the phone warned me I would be losing all my data. Fortunately under "Settings - Back up and reset" I had checked the "Back up my data" as well as the "Automatic restore" options. When I completed the upgrade to ICS I not only automatically retained all my app data, but I didn't even have to re-download any apps. All my apps I had on Gingerbread, along with all the data, had been successfully and automatically carried over to ICS.
Recently I've been having issues with my home button. After rebooting and some other troubleshooting, I decided to factory reset my phone. Again I made sure the "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore" options were checked. When I completed the factory reset it was like I just powered on my phone for the first time (OBVIOUSLY this is to be expected as I performed a Factory Reset).
Under the "Automatic restore" check box it states "When reinstalling an application, backed up settings and data will be restored". So I began to download and reinstall the apps I had before. The problem is NONE of the apps restored with the data I had backed up to Google servers. Did I do something wrong?
I'm a bit irked because I believe I received the exact same "you're going to lose your data" warning when I upgraded to ICS AND when I performed this recent factory reset. The difference is when I upgraded I got all my stuff back, so I figured after the factory reset, when I reinstalled my apps I'd get the data back too. I think it's only fair if Google really WILL restore data after an upgrade, but NOT restore data after a factory reset they should annotate that in their warning. Also maybe include a statement like, "After performing a factory reset you will not be able to retrieve app data from Google Servers. We recommend installing a third party app to save your important app data." But instead you get the same warning with two different results.
my Android phone (LG P970). The story is the phone is working as much as I can call and text but the system is not stable. It's freezing a lot and then it's trying to reboot but after every rebooting my phone freeze on LG logo... the only way to run it again is taking out the battery and then system is starting ok but it's loading with all settings and data from few days ago... I have try to flash it with Smartflash tool... whole process whas without any error then phone rebooted automaticly and I find out that after rebooting my p970 sterted with the same old and notstable rom with all the call list and messeges from few days ago.. then I tryed to do the emergency recovery of my phone with LG software. Application asked me to type the model and S/N of my phone so I did that and again the whole process of recovery was ok (with no errors)... Then the phone rebooted on the end which is normal and again started with no effect of recovery.. it was the same ZEUS 7 rom, not stable and with all the data and settings from few days ago... I decided to use Titanium Backup to uninstall all the apps and I was trying to instal ROM MANAGER and run the recovery mode but in the middle of my work the phone freez again and then rebooted and then again freeze on LG logo... I took out the battery and again turned it on and when the system was loaded I find out that all the programs which I have deleted with TITANIUM BACKUP was restored somehow... EVERY time I try to restart in normal mode, reboot in recovery mode or even after flashing system is restarting automaticaly, it freeze on LG logo and the only way to run it again is to take out this battery... then system restoring all data and settings for some reason. maybe some of you know whot software i should use to do the FULL WIPE and get rid of the old borken system?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a question regarding restoring data after flashing to a new ROM (Bugless Beast) via a nandroid backup. I know I have the update.zip option, but that seems to introduce issues for some that I want to avoid. Now, I know I have a few options. I can batch backup apps and data with Titanium Backup, then wipe, install the new build, and then restore via Titanium. Or, I can do a nandroid backup of my phone, wipe, install the new build, and then restore only the data partition of my first backup. My question is, are either of these methods any different from just using the update.zip version of BB? For example, when I upgraded from BB .7.8 to 1.0, I lost root and had to do a full wipe and I just manually reinstalled everything. Will doing the data partition restore or titanium backup restore result in the same issues?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince updating to Froyo on my Droid X, I've noticed my camera's autofocus won't work at all. I first noticed this because the barcode scanner can't read bar codes anymore because they are too blurry. I want to try a factory wipe to see if that fixes it. I just did a factory wipe 2 weeks ago and it erased all of my applications and settings and was a huge pain to reinstall everything. Is there a way to backup these apps, so I can just automatically re-download them after I do the wipe?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I attempted to hack my droid to wifi tether but I ended up getting stuck at one step. I decided to give up so I want to restore my droid to factory settings, but when I rebooted my phone into recovery mode and factory reset, there is a superuser app in the app menu. I think it's factory restoring to a custom image. Is there a way to restore it the way I got it when I walked out of the Verizon store?

View 2 Replies View RelatedA friend is having trouble with the 2.2 OTA, he lost his phones ringing ability, I was gonna suggest a factory reset but he thinks VZW said this will cause him to lose data, like all his apps. Is this correct? If so is there a better solution to try first?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter I received the OTA to 2.1 I have noticed more lag when scrolling between home screens, using 2D games is painful with the framerate reduction, and many items that are running in the background without me ever starting them. I also cannot seem to keep them closed either. I can also say that I am getting worse battery life now than I was with 2.0.1. I was wondering what would actually happen if I rebooted into Recovery Mode and did a Factory Reset with Data Wipe. Would this possibly help with the update causing these problems that were not there before?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI removed a bunch of bloatware a couple weeks ago after I installed the one click root tool. Now I can't upgrade my phone to 2.2 with the update.zip file because I have removed the bloatware. I'm getting the Error 7 code. Is there any way that I can just restore this to the complete factory settings and automatically restore any bloatware so the 2.2 update will work?
View 16 Replies View RelatedWell I finally screwed around with my phone untill I messed it up. I rooted yesterday with Visionary. No problem then deodexed no problem. Well I have evidently rebooted and wiped the usr data and done a factory reset. However it says I'm still rooted. It seems like I'm half rooted. How do I get this baby back to fully rooted.
View 21 Replies View Relatedso i had been having problems with the whole random rebooting issue that some people on the droid x have been having, so i called tech support and i had tried everything that they had suggested except the factory data reset. i was hesitant to do that because it just seems like doing something like that would never let me get my phone to working the way that it used to work. you know the way i had everything set up. well after the phone kept rebooting on its own i decided i would give it a shot. sure enough the phone just doesnt seem to be running the same as it did before. the phone seems to lag more, i am having to touch icons several times at times to make them work. task killer isnt running the way that it should. it just seems like the factory data reset made everything on the phone work just a little bit worse. has anyone else had this experience?

By mistakenly I reset my phone to factory settings and now after resetting I cannot access any functions. Since I had deleted the launcher. I am having the files of the launcher though but since the phone has USB Debugging turned off and Google Account not set, I am not able to do anything!! Is there any update.zip kind of file to reinstall the launcher? I am using Motorola Fire XT311 which has locked bootloader so no Nandroids too !!
I just got a HTC Desire and I love it so far, I've spent ages customising it, getting my contacts synced with facebook etc, favourites, bookmarks etc and downloading apps. Now I want to go about putting on a few different ROMs to see what I like. What is the best way to backup all my stuff so that when I do put on a fresh rom I can get all my stuff back as easily as possible?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSO I sinstalled the CM 6.0.0 rom to check it out. I downloaded some apps and fiddled with some settings to see if I liked it, but decided to do a wipe before using it "for real". Unfortunately, I can't get it back to a clean install because it insists on restoring all of my previous settings and applications. Even ones I've uninstalled and gotten refunds for, no matter what settings I put in the Privacy section about backing up and restoring.
