View 1 RepliesJust ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I did a factory reset and all of my downloaded applications were still there. I thought it clears all of your downloaded apps and it was supposed to clear all of my settings. Such as display and sound settings which it also didn't do. Is this the way its supposed to work or not.
View 17 Replies View RelatedSince updating to Froyo on my Droid X, I've noticed my camera's autofocus won't work at all. I first noticed this because the barcode scanner can't read bar codes anymore because they are too blurry. I want to try a factory wipe to see if that fixes it. I just did a factory wipe 2 weeks ago and it erased all of my applications and settings and was a huge pain to reinstall everything. Is there a way to backup these apps, so I can just automatically re-download them after I do the wipe?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI cleaned a bunch of files with Titanium Backup and have have backups of the uninstalled apps which include my default gallery (I had another gallery app), Homescreen Launcher and some others.
By mistakenly I reset my phone to factory settings and now after resetting I cannot access any functions. Since I had deleted the launcher. I am having the files of the launcher though but since the phone has USB Debugging turned off and Google Account not set, I am not able to do anything!! Is there any update.zip kind of file to reinstall the launcher? I am using Motorola Fire XT311 which has locked bootloader so no Nandroids too !!
I want to reset bluestacks for multiple sing up in a app but i am not able to do. i have clear app data too. But its not working.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my android to 4.3. A lot of people say that if you get a big update, it is the best to do a factory reset for faster performance. Is that true?
If that is the case, is there a way to do a factory reset and keep some data of some apps? Like example, i have an app that I spend my money on to buy ingame items and such. If i do a factory reset, all my ingame items will be gone and have to restart everything.
is there a 100% safe backup and do a factory reset for me to keep my app data?
I am selling my sg2 and was wondering how to wipe all my data from it. I am running AOKP but no longer have the .zip or access to any, as there is no internet here.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a couple different devices to sell (one on stock JB 4.1.2 and one on CM 10.2.1) and I would prefer not to factory reset them. If I go through each individual app and clear its data and cache and also delete any accounts I have set up (e.g., Facebook, Gmail), does that get rid on my identifying information the same as a factory reset would?
View 2 Replies View RelatedToday I have done wipes data and now, I need files from this. There are somehow recover this.
The smartphone is broken, the tactil screen don't respond, and i only can enter by adb in recovery sistem and too i can disassemble the smartphone.
I have a generic (unbranded) tablet here. The user has used too many pattern attempts. I do a lot of these where I just wipe the device for people.
Sometimes I use key combos and sometimes i use ADB to boot into recovery and then simply select the "wipe data / factory reset option"
However, this tablet has no keys , no volume keys that is, so i used ADB to boot it into recovery which it did just fine.
How can i select "wipe data" when i can't use volume keys to select it? the touch screen is unresponsive in this mode too
I have tried
ADB SHELL WIPE DATA
but i get a permission denied error
I have tried running
ADB ROOT
but i get a "cannot run as root in production build" error
I have tried to root the tablet with super one click by short fuse but it crashes.
so i am basically asking is it at all possible to do a wipe data / factory reset on a device which is not rooted through ADB?
i did a factory data reset on my galaxy grand and after that i discovered a havnt backed my contacts to my gmail account?, is there any way to restore my contacts again?
View 11 Replies View RelatedFirst, my phone info: Galaxy S2 I9100, ICS 4.0.3
My question: How do you restore app data from Google servers after a factory reset?
When I upgraded from Gingerbread to ICS, the phone warned me I would be losing all my data. Fortunately under "Settings - Back up and reset" I had checked the "Back up my data" as well as the "Automatic restore" options. When I completed the upgrade to ICS I not only automatically retained all my app data, but I didn't even have to re-download any apps. All my apps I had on Gingerbread, along with all the data, had been successfully and automatically carried over to ICS.
Recently I've been having issues with my home button. After rebooting and some other troubleshooting, I decided to factory reset my phone. Again I made sure the "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore" options were checked. When I completed the factory reset it was like I just powered on my phone for the first time (OBVIOUSLY this is to be expected as I performed a Factory Reset).
Under the "Automatic restore" check box it states "When reinstalling an application, backed up settings and data will be restored". So I began to download and reinstall the apps I had before. The problem is NONE of the apps restored with the data I had backed up to Google servers. Did I do something wrong?
I'm a bit irked because I believe I received the exact same "you're going to lose your data" warning when I upgraded to ICS AND when I performed this recent factory reset. The difference is when I upgraded I got all my stuff back, so I figured after the factory reset, when I reinstalled my apps I'd get the data back too. I think it's only fair if Google really WILL restore data after an upgrade, but NOT restore data after a factory reset they should annotate that in their warning. Also maybe include a statement like, "After performing a factory reset you will not be able to retrieve app data from Google Servers. We recommend installing a third party app to save your important app data." But instead you get the same warning with two different results.
Why the phone memory did not clear even i use the data wipe/factory reset... how can i clear that?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy galaxy s4 has recently been very slow so I thought that I would try a factory data reset to clear some things up. However, my phone is rooted. Now when I looked around on some other forums it seemed as though that I didn't have to worry about factory resetting the phone while it was rooted. But when I went ahead and did so it no longer will boot. Its stuck in the boot loop/download mode/ whatever you may call it. I can't seem to flash a recovery file through Odin either. My phone is gone now.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday I tried to install a custom ROM on my device (HTC Evo 3D GSM Europe) for the first time and it took close to 12 hours to get it from ICS 4.0.4 to ICS 4.0.3 (when my intention was actually JB 4.2). Let's just say that forgot to backup his Shipped ROM, then installed JB, was incompatible with the boot loader, tried desperately to find a compatible shipped RUU that worked with the CID, spent countless hours searching in xda-developers and then finally settled for a custom ICS ROM until some time in the future.
Now on to my problem. Prior to my Factory Reset, I had moved all applications to the SD card. A simple look-over in the file system indicates all the data is still there, but reinstalling the applications and even moving them back to the SD card doesn't seem to give them access to the prior data (saved games, stored profiles, lists and anything else I might have done). It's as if the app has been installed for the first time.
Is there any way to "link" the data back to the apps (after yesterday's endeavor I ended up with a rooted phone, at least)?
I rooted my phone to uninstall some bloatware system apps several months ago. Now, I need to perform a factory data reset just to remove the Google account associated with it. Is it safe to do so or will I lose any further system apps or worse, brick my phone? I have the apk's of the system apps that I removed, but for some reason I am not able to restore/install all of them. I used ES File Explorer back then to remove those apps. [My phone is Samsung GT-I5801 running Android 2.2]

Now I am ready to reset the phone but before that I need to take full backup of my phone. There is no software / tool is being provided by the company. find a software / tool which can take full backup (contacts, msg, apps, photos, settings, etc...) and restore as well without rooting the phone?
Does system recovery "Wipe data/factory reset" resets custom kernel to stock?
I'm asking this because im noob, and I want to try JellyBlast for Galaxy GT-S5570I. It has two zip files to flash one is ROM, and one is custom kernel. If I do something wrong I'm afraid that I won't be able to restore nandroid backup.
Is there any way to factory reset without going to settings > etc.I tried to original Droid method but press the camera and volume up buttons didn't work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt seems a lot of us are having issues after upping to 2.2. Someone suggested hard reset. My question is simple, will hard reset "restore" EVO back to factory settings, AKA 2.1? I mean when you bought the phone, 2.1 is "baked" in the internal memory. When you update to 2.2, will 2.2 also be "baked" in internal memory so that whenever you hard reset you will always go to 2.2 status? I think it is, but please clarify?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have not yet gotten the OTA update for 2.2 on my phone, but I am assuming that it will be here soon and once I do get it I am also assuming that I will most likely need to do a factory reset after reading all the problems that members on here are encountering. Now I already have AppBrain installed and have my apps synced to my online account so I can easily download them again if I do a factory reset. My questions however though are the following 1) Is there any way to preserve application data such as the notes I had in a notepad application before doing a factory reset? 2) Is there any way to keep calendar data and contact data if they were inputted as phone data entries and not synced via Google?
View 1 Replies View RelatedA friend is having trouble with the 2.2 OTA, he lost his phones ringing ability, I was gonna suggest a factory reset but he thinks VZW said this will cause him to lose data, like all his apps. Is this correct? If so is there a better solution to try first?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter I received the OTA to 2.1 I have noticed more lag when scrolling between home screens, using 2D games is painful with the framerate reduction, and many items that are running in the background without me ever starting them. I also cannot seem to keep them closed either. I can also say that I am getting worse battery life now than I was with 2.0.1. I was wondering what would actually happen if I rebooted into Recovery Mode and did a Factory Reset with Data Wipe. Would this possibly help with the update causing these problems that were not there before?
