I removed a bunch of bloatware a couple weeks ago after I installed the one click root tool. Now I can't upgrade my phone to 2.2 with the update.zip file because I have removed the bloatware. I'm getting the Error 7 code. Is there any way that I can just restore this to the complete factory settings and automatically restore any bloatware so the 2.2 update will work?

Just ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.

Now I can download 2.2 but it gets to about 30% through the installation and reboots the phone and then goes to the home screen then it says install failed. View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter I received the OTA to 2.1 I have noticed more lag when scrolling between home screens, using 2D games is painful with the framerate reduction, and many items that are running in the background without me ever starting them. I also cannot seem to keep them closed either. I can also say that I am getting worse battery life now than I was with 2.0.1. I was wondering what would actually happen if I rebooted into Recovery Mode and did a Factory Reset with Data Wipe. Would this possibly help with the update causing these problems that were not there before?

Well I have evidently rebooted and wiped the usr data and done a factory reset. However it says I'm still rooted. It seems like I'm half rooted. How do I get this baby back to fully rooted.

View 17 Replies View Relatedso i had been having problems with the whole random rebooting issue that some people on the droid x have been having, so i called tech support and i had tried everything that they had suggested except the factory data reset. i was hesitant to do that because it just seems like doing something like that would never let me get my phone to working the way that it used to work. you know the way i had everything set up. well after the phone kept rebooting on its own i decided i would give it a shot. sure enough the phone just doesnt seem to be running the same as it did before. the phone seems to lag more, i am having to touch icons several times at times to make them work. task killer isnt running the way that it should. it just seems like the factory data reset made everything on the phone work just a little bit worse. has anyone else had this experience?

I want to just custom recovery restore to the deodexed ROM here (Droid X 2.2 Froyo Deodexed and Ready For Themes) but cannot because I get the following error every time I try to restore a backup from custom recovery: "e:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 device or resource busy.I think I found out that it is because this Koush recovery is the original 2.1 version, so I need the 2.2 one.Two things:-Where do I get this 2.2 newer version? View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter months of being really happy with 1.5, I ran with OTA 2.1 for about a week.... hated it! While I didn't see any outright bugs, the phone had hugely sluggish response, very poor battery life, etc. Finally decided to to the Factory Data Reset this morning, and voila - lovin' my Eris again.
Things to note:
Before Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time were almost equal (not good)
- Had the 50% without signal message
- 'Android System' always listed as top user of battery usage (60-70%)
- Even while idle, phone always felt 'warm' (like it was continually running a background process, as evidence by poor battery life)
After Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time now as expected (awaketime < uptime)
- No more 50% signal message
- Cell Standby and Phone Idle now top users of batter usage.
- Phone now cool to the touch while idle
One thing to note is even after the reset, I still had issues syncing Gmail contacts, and needed to delete the contacts cache.
While I won't conjecture about root cause, I'm hoping Google and VZ learn from this experience, as much of this mucking about is *way* beyond what most 'normal' users would put up with. My wife loves her iPhone and just laughs at me dealing with all this c**p. Besides, I can't remember the last time *she* had to reboot her phone..
So, first, here's what happened. Did a factory reset of my phone. When it came back up and I went to activate it, no data connection, unable to make phone calls. After 2 hours on the phone with VZW tech support, I can make calls, but have no data connection. They are sending me a "new" one. The concensus of the VZW tech and myself, problem with my phone. 2 days later, my wife resets her phone because of memory usage issues (she had to much on it). Same exact thing happened to her. Being the fiesty woman that she is she is going to a VZW store today to raise holy hell and throughorly degrade the poor rep that she is going to talk to, to get some answers. My question to all my fine fellow Eris users, have you seen this before? If in our position, do we deserve a new phone, and not an eris? Will this happen with a replacement eris due to a fault in the 2.1 update?

Since installing my phone has been a little sluggish and the battery life isn't as good as 2.1. I'm considering doing a factory reset since that's what has helped some people. A few questions though:
1) How do I do a factory reset?
2) Will doing a factory reset bring my phone back to 2.1 or 22?
3) How do I back up the apps I've downloaded? Specifically the PAID ones. Will I have to pay again for them?
This has probably been brought up a lot and beaten to death, but I felt compelled to make my own thread about this. I can't believe how much a factory reset helped me after installing Froyo.
I finally got around to doing it this past weekend and one word....WOW! Not only did it fix a ton of little bugs that I noticed, but it literally doubled (or more) my battery life.
I have the 2150 battery, but now I'm not sure I even need it anymore. I unplug my phone every morning during the week at about 8:00 am. After installing Froyo I was down in the 25-35% range by 3:00-4:00 pm every day. Causing me to recharge while I was at work just to make it through the night after work.
Since I did the factory reset I have been getting stellar (by the Incredible's standards) battery life. Yesterday I went to bed at 11:30 pm and I still had about 50% battery life left. Granted I didn't do a ton of stuff on my phone yesterday, but I still used it moderately.
As I'm typing this right now, it's almost 7:00 pm and I am at 51% battery life. But I did a lot more with my phone today.
Anyhow, I think a factory reset should be mandatory on this phone after installing Froyo! If anyone is on the fence, I HIGHLY recommend spending the time and doing it. It's well, well worth it.
I recently got the Froyo update on my N1, and initially everything was working just fine with regard to being able to see my apps in the market.Today I performed a factory reset to wipe the device, and after getting it set up again, I can no longer see my apps in the market.

View 1 Replies View Relatedokay, this is really frustrating. i got my 2.2 today, and then i did a factory reset. everything is great except i can't seem to get my keyboard to change to swype. i have it installed, and i select it as my keyboard, but i cannot get it to come up. i have the official beta, and i also have a modified version with microphone, and i've tried both, neither is being recognized. does anyone know how to get my phone to use the swype keyboard when i have selected the damn thing? is there an additional setting i have to find? it's not app specific, either, i've checked several things, handcent, internet, mail, whatever. stock keyboard is all i get.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs advised by the experts, I did a factory reset when my phone went wacky on me. I didn't actually have Froyo installed when this happened, but as soon as I did the reset, I received a system prompt concerning the available upgrade and took it. My phone works better now, but but battery performance is about the same.
I have also been advised that battery performance (as in better than ever), among other things works best with a clean install, not the upgrade. Since I did a factory reset before taking the upgrade, I wonder if this is equivalent to a clean install, or if the clean install would still be worth my effort. If it's the latter, there is only one resource for clean install files which I have been referred to, which cannot help me because I don't have an XP machine available (I did try it on Windows 7). If a clean install is, in any case, the best option, are there any Win7 installation files available for Froyo?
Before factory reset,I backup all application with Appmanager and I installed them. But problem is all of application didn't show in "market>my download".
