Last night looks like I lost all my contacts and did not realize until today.. I am using sweeterhome theme.. I used lookout to restore the contacts.. So when I go into contacts it is empty.. but if I go into sweeterhome contact widget all contacts are present.

Since this is of EXTREME importance to me I wanted to make sure I go about this in the right process and only talk to the very best professionals/most knowledgeable on the site. It involves the Police removing videos from my phone after I was taken into custody. So a lil extra spice for an otherwise boring question. I took out my micro sd card so nothing else writes to it and am waiting to hear back from you guys. The goal is to prove that I was in custody when the videos were deleted-(Police corruption) and to also restore them to prove my innocence.
I seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid.When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)
I got my DroidX on 7/15 and on 7/16 linked all my phone contacts who have facebook to a facebook contact via social networking. I kike how the phone sets the picture, I like that in the contact entry it shows me thier status on facebook. What I don't like is that when I open up a contac that is both a phone contact and a facebook contact and I tap the facebook icon on the contact screen I get 3 options (view profile, write on wall, and poke). If I open up a contact that is only facebook and tap that same Icon I get 4 options (view profile, message, write on wall, and poke). Is there some reason linking the facebook contact to a phone contact needs to remove that option? I'd like to be able to send a facebook message from the phone to any contact as easy as I can send a text message.

For instance if you add someone as a friend on facebook and they have their email and phone number filled out in their profile, that information would automatically be added to your phone. Is there a way to do that?

I don't want all of my Facebook "friends" to show up in my contact list on my phone but I would like Facebook data to sync for my actual contacts in my Google contact list. Has anyone figured this out?

I hate Google's contact interface - it crashes Internet Explorer half the time - so I want to edit my contacts on my Droid and have them get updated on Google contacts. I tried this, but when I sync, the google data overwrites what is on my Droid. I've lost a lot of changes already. I tried deleting the contact in Google thinking the Droid contact would then become dominant, but the contact just got deleted on my Droid. But when I add a new contact on the Droid, it does go to Google. So it seems that all the existing Google contacts only sync one way - from google down to the Droid. I must change this. I need updates to happen both ways or else I need to make changes only go up to Google from the Droid.

I am already not happy with the phones ability to get my mail from hotmail but will deal with that later. Has anyone else sync'd their hotmail contacts to the droid contact list. Imported into Gmail, all was well. I then set up my ICE contacts and notes. Now my contacts are gone from the main contacts button on the home screen. I still have access to the contacts from inside the dialer,email and messaging apps, but when I press the contacts icon on the lower right of the home screen, I get

I have contacts in my phone that Verizon brought over from my last phone (a regular phone phone... I carry a BB for work, have for years. I also have Google Contacts I spent hours getting in order in anticipation of getting this device. I can not, for the life of me, figure out how to back up the contacts now only on the droid to the cloud OR how to get the Google contacts information down to the phone. What I want to do is keep them in Sync and do the cleanup from a laptop/desktop one time, once the nasty merge happens.

I've flashed the recovery using Allclockwork, backed up with Titanium (free version) and flashed my first ROM (Myn Warm twobytwo 11-05-2010 RLS3). Everything seems to work fine except 4G. I didn't download any software or apps specifically for locating cell phone.My cell died the night it was stolen and i called it today and it rang so the person had to of charged it and is most likely using it.I'm thinking about seeing what numbers the person has called and try to use them to recover the phone. Either having the police contact them and ask who is their friend that called them from my number or me calling and pretending to be the police officer investigating the stolen phone.Any suggestions?

I need to recover a photo of my dog which although is set as profile photo the original on my sd card is deleted and i would like to recover it before i reset the phone back to factory.
My understanding of this is that the photo is stored in the database of android contacts which is why it doesn't show up in gallery or any other file finding or photo finding apps. I would love to extract it as the dog has passed away and it's one of my favourites of him.

I've tried the trick where you let it sit in rice for a few days to soak up the moisture, but the touchscreen is shot. The phone works fine except that I can't unlock the screen since the touch functionality just isn't working, which means I can't do anything with the phone...
Is there a way to recover my text messages by connecting to a computer? I'm not sure if I can even activate the USB functionality without the touchscreen working. I've been using Handcent for my texts, perhaps by some miracle is saves to the SD card?
If all else fails, I can replace the touchscreen myself. Where is a reputable source for a replacement for it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a SanDisk Ultra 32gb microsd card to use it with my Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 several months ago, I've been using it with no hassle for a while now. Few days ago, my device stopped recognising the card, as if it didn't even exist. So what I did was insert the microsd into my laptop using an adapter, and I could see all the files intact and safe. The problem is, I cannot copy the files off the card, it's like it keeps disconnecting every about 10secs, once a copy or move operation starts, it goes about 10% and then stops, forcing me to cancel the operation, and sometimes it doesn't even start. The files are there, i can view them, i just cannot copy them. I want to copy the files off in order to format the microsd card to be able to use it again.
Another major problem is, files and complete folders are disappearing! I lost my photos folder and all my music folder (luckily i have a backup of those).
I have read somewhere that SanDisk manufactured faulty 32gb cards, and i get to return it and get a replacement, but i bought it from Amazon and i shipped internationally, it will be very cost inefficient to return it. GT-I9500
I dropped my Incredible the other day and the screen cracked and is now completely black. Luckily Verizon will replace it for me under insurance (after paying my deductible). However before I send back the old phone I want to get my old pictures and texts off it. Is that possible?
The phone itself is working (lower soft keys light up, I can feel haptic feedback, etc). NOTHING appears on the screen however. When I plug my USB cable in, I get a sound on my PC indicating a USB device is plugged in, but since I can't see the phone screen, I can't mount the device via the notifications menu.

I read an interesting post on hooking a USB keyboard to android and it should "just work" (How To Connect a USB Keyboard To Your Android Phone). However, I don't have the adapter to connect it, and the Desire ran an older version of android with Sense on top, so it may "just not work".
I sent a snapchat on accident without saving it, and it was one I meant to save. I really want to find it, but I can't seem to figure out how to open the nomedia file.
I plugged my phone into my computer and found all the snapchat files, and I read that you can just delete .NOMEDIA from the name and it turns it to a JPEG and opens it. The one I want to open is:

Certainly enough, when I rename it without the nomedia, it recognizes it as a JPEG, but when I open it with windows photo viewer, it can't open it. It says the file may be damaged/corrupted/wrong file type.
I put Cognition on my phone today, and made a backup image of the stock 2.1 before putting Cognition on. I decided I want to go back to the Stock, so I clicked the "manage backups" part of Clockwork, and "recover" on the image I saved. Next, the phone rebooted, and looked like it was installing the backup image, and rebooted again. However, it will not go past the White AT&T screen. Is my only option to use Odin to give it a factory reset? Or is there an easier way for me to do this?

I have been able to root the phone with motochopper and have put the phone in debugging mode. I just can't seem to get into it though. how I might be able to get my files restored.
View 4 Replies View Relatedon my Nexus 7 (Android 4.3). Via the reading history of my pdf reader (Moon+ reader) I can see that at least one file is still present in the cache under the following folder address:

How can I access this folder? When accessing the device via the Android File Transfer sofware for Mac, I don't see this folder. I have access to Android/data/com.google.android.apps.docs/files, but this folder contains no files but only another folder (called "pinned_doc_files_not_for_edit") which is also empty.
The lost pdf is still there, I can open it in the reader via the reading history, but I would like to access the folder to see whether other lost files (which are not in the reading history) are also still present. To be clear, the file which I can open is also not detected when searching the device for pdfs.
I have just had the WORST customer service experience EVER with Motorola. It started early last week, and is continuing through today. Suffices to say, the automated system is useless, the customer service reps are all in Argentina, and no one hears what you say. They only hear what they have been trained to hear, and can not think outside of their little scripts at all. If I hear " I really do apologize for the inconvenience, can you hold while I look that up" one more time, my head is going to explode.Does anyone have an email address for someone in Motorola Corporate that deals with the Consumer Electronics portion of the business?
