I have purchased my Evo 2 weeks ago from this date. I've decided to finally root a few days ago using the unRevoked 3.2.1 method. I've flashed the recovery using Allclockwork, backed up with Titanium (free version) and flashed my first ROM (Myn Warm twobytwo 11-05-2010 RLS3). Everything seems to work fine except 4G. Can someone assist me in recovering my 4G signal (Dallas area)

I want to reach out to others here before I take my Moment back to Best Buy to exchange it for another Moment.
My signal strength fluctuates wildly just sitting in the same spot. With the Hero I got a constant 5 of 6 bars, but the Moment will vary between 0 and 5 of 6 bars. But it's more complicated than that.
It seems that whenever the EVDO data kicks in, it causes the signal strength to drop to 0 or 1 bar. Once the data is idle, the EVDO indicator turns grey and then changes from EV(^v) to EV(D). At that point the single strength will return to 3 or 4 bars.
At times, though not as consistently or often, the EVDO connection will fall back to 1xRTT and will switch between them every few minutes. This will occur even when the signal strength bars are in the 3 to 4 range.
So, the my questions are...
Does the signal strength apply to the data signal or just the voice signal?
Is there any legitimate reason for the signal strength to vary wildly like I've described, even when sitting in the same recliner where the Hero had a constant 5 bar connection and data service that never wavered?
Is anyone else having signal strength and/or data service issues?
Should I exchange the Moment for another Moment or will I likely experience the same issue?
I had a month's worth of texts from my hubby who's serving in Afghanistan and now they've gone I'm so upset, can I retrieve them??

I didn't download any software or apps specifically for locating cell phone.My cell died the night it was stolen and i called it today and it rang so the person had to of charged it and is most likely using it.I'm thinking about seeing what numbers the person has called and try to use them to recover the phone. Either having the police contact them and ask who is their friend that called them from my number or me calling and pretending to be the police officer investigating the stolen phone.Any suggestions?

I need to recover a photo of my dog which although is set as profile photo the original on my sd card is deleted and i would like to recover it before i reset the phone back to factory.
My understanding of this is that the photo is stored in the database of android contacts which is why it doesn't show up in gallery or any other file finding or photo finding apps. I would love to extract it as the dog has passed away and it's one of my favourites of him.

I've tried the trick where you let it sit in rice for a few days to soak up the moisture, but the touchscreen is shot. The phone works fine except that I can't unlock the screen since the touch functionality just isn't working, which means I can't do anything with the phone...
Is there a way to recover my text messages by connecting to a computer? I'm not sure if I can even activate the USB functionality without the touchscreen working. I've been using Handcent for my texts, perhaps by some miracle is saves to the SD card?
If all else fails, I can replace the touchscreen myself. Where is a reputable source for a replacement for it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a SanDisk Ultra 32gb microsd card to use it with my Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 several months ago, I've been using it with no hassle for a while now. Few days ago, my device stopped recognising the card, as if it didn't even exist. So what I did was insert the microsd into my laptop using an adapter, and I could see all the files intact and safe. The problem is, I cannot copy the files off the card, it's like it keeps disconnecting every about 10secs, once a copy or move operation starts, it goes about 10% and then stops, forcing me to cancel the operation, and sometimes it doesn't even start. The files are there, i can view them, i just cannot copy them. I want to copy the files off in order to format the microsd card to be able to use it again.
Another major problem is, files and complete folders are disappearing! I lost my photos folder and all my music folder (luckily i have a backup of those).
I have read somewhere that SanDisk manufactured faulty 32gb cards, and i get to return it and get a replacement, but i bought it from Amazon and i shipped internationally, it will be very cost inefficient to return it. GT-I9500
I dropped my Incredible the other day and the screen cracked and is now completely black. Luckily Verizon will replace it for me under insurance (after paying my deductible). However before I send back the old phone I want to get my old pictures and texts off it. Is that possible?
The phone itself is working (lower soft keys light up, I can feel haptic feedback, etc). NOTHING appears on the screen however. When I plug my USB cable in, I get a sound on my PC indicating a USB device is plugged in, but since I can't see the phone screen, I can't mount the device via the notifications menu.

I sent a snapchat on accident without saving it, and it was one I meant to save. I really want to find it, but I can't seem to figure out how to open the nomedia file.
I plugged my phone into my computer and found all the snapchat files, and I read that you can just delete .NOMEDIA from the name and it turns it to a JPEG and opens it. The one I want to open is:

Certainly enough, when I rename it without the nomedia, it recognizes it as a JPEG, but when I open it with windows photo viewer, it can't open it. It says the file may be damaged/corrupted/wrong file type.
I put Cognition on my phone today, and made a backup image of the stock 2.1 before putting Cognition on. I decided I want to go back to the Stock, so I clicked the "manage backups" part of Clockwork, and "recover" on the image I saved. Next, the phone rebooted, and looked like it was installing the backup image, and rebooted again. However, it will not go past the White AT&T screen. Is my only option to use Odin to give it a factory reset? Or is there an easier way for me to do this?

Since this is of EXTREME importance to me I wanted to make sure I go about this in the right process and only talk to the very best professionals/most knowledgeable on the site. It involves the Police removing videos from my phone after I was taken into custody. So a lil extra spice for an otherwise boring question. I took out my micro sd card so nothing else writes to it and am waiting to hear back from you guys. The goal is to prove that I was in custody when the videos were deleted-(Police corruption) and to also restore them to prove my innocence.
I accidentally deleted a bunch of photos and a video from my Samsung Galaxy Express SGH-I437. I have been trying to recover the deleted files with no luck so far. I have been able to root the phone with motochopper and have put the phone in debugging mode. I just can't seem to get into it though. how I might be able to get my files restored.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can get a few minutes of 4G signal at my home per day, but when it drops out and 3G takes over, the signal will flatline and boot me offline. My 3G speeds are usually around 56-150Kbps or less, and my 4G speeds are around 2.5 Mbps What would cause this ? According to WiMax location sites online, my nearest 4G tower is .52 mile away. I would think that if I actually get 4G signal, then 3G would be constant. Turning off 4G doesn't help either. Is there some setting that I could have turned off that would cause this ? Running stock EVO on 2.2 all the latest updates

How can I access this folder? When accessing the device via the Android File Transfer sofware for Mac, I don't see this folder. I have access to Android/data/com.google.android.apps.docs/files, but this folder contains no files but only another folder (called "pinned_doc_files_not_for_edit") which is also empty.
The lost pdf is still there, I can open it in the reader via the reading history, but I would like to access the folder to see whether other lost files (which are not in the reading history) are also still present. To be clear, the file which I can open is also not detected when searching the device for pdfs.
My droid x signal pretty much always between -92dBm and -87dBm with 1-3 3g bars. My former droid eris would get -92dBm with 1 bar and also drain incredibly fast.
On the droid x, if I go into google maps, the circle of the cell tower appears and the place I live at is half way within the edge of the circle and the other half is outside of the circle. I always seem to be connected to this tower. Bad luck I guess that I'm on the outskirts of the circle.
Does anyone know how cell towers are distributed? Do they overlap sometimes?
I run pandora with the screen off for a half hour with the screen off and my battery is down to 70%. I have about 15% screen brightness and battery saving mode on.

I'm writing an android application that collects cell signal strengths. I am having trouble getting the "current" cell signal strength, but I don't have any problem getting the "neighboring" cell signal strengths. To get the current cell signal strength, I created a PhoneStateListener and implemented the onSignalStrengthChanged callback. It works, but not very well. It seems like the signal strength hardly ever changes, and resolution jumps to only a few numbers. I would accept the answer that the resolution of the signal strength hardware is coarse, but when I use the TelephonyManager's getNeighboringCellInfo() method, it works much better. The signal strength readings from neighboring cells change frequently, and they have much better resolution.So, how can I get the current cell signal strength in the same way that I am getting the neighboring cell strengths? It seems odd to me that the functionality of the neighboring cells is better than the current cell. Am I missing something here?I would also like to directly call a method from the telephony manager to get current cell strength, as opposed to a listener, if possible. If anyone knows how, please let me know.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought the HTC Desire unlocked from CWH and love it. Though the only problem i got is that I can't seem to get a 3G signal. When i set my settings to GSM only i only get GPRS, WCDMA only i get H(signal) and when i set it at the GSM/WCDMA auto i also get the HSPA but can't get to 3G in anyone of them. Am I doing sth wrong or is it normal ? I got the 3G signal only once in my house but I can't seem to get the 3G signal again .

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm guessing that the GPS hardware in most Android phones is the same or close. If it makes a difference I have the Moto Cliq XT.I'm going hiking tomorrow and will be using Google's My Tracks program. I've tried it twice... the first time I could not get a signal despite being out in desert with nothing to block the signal. Next time I was in the mountains and once I had a signal, it was rock solid. Worked like a charm. But I did not want to take a chance and held it in my hand the entire time. I'm wondering if anyone has tried it while the phone was in their pocket. Any issues with sat lock on? This would be much easier. I also can't imagine that you'd not be able to use GPS while the phone was in your pocket as it's not really possible to have it in your hand all of the time.
