Im have trouble merging my facebook contacts and my phone contacts. I have changed the names so that they correspond with each other but for some reason they still appear on my list as two separate contacts. How do i merge them?

I've read the constant threads where people say, just find the friend on facebook, hold press their icon and it will do whatever. doesnt work at all, the only thing happens is if i quick press i get the chooser to email them, or view their facebook profile. what im trying to do is manually sync a contact on my phone with a facebook contact. on my friends droid eris he can open up a phone contact, hit edit and actually has a field for him to type my facebook name in and it will sync. there anyway to do this? im tired of only having like 10 peoples profiles actually syncing with my phone contacts and another 100 not synced..
View 13 Replies View RelatedCurrently if I add/modify a contact in gmail it will sync without issue to my phone But if I happen to add a contact onto my phone or change something on my phone, that contact is not being synced to my gmail contacts (it stays on the phone, just doesn't go into gmail as well). Thoughts? I currently only sync 'My Contacts' from gmail to my phone not sure if this matters or not. I don't see an option to sync the other way as I did when using Google Sync on my blackberry.

I removed some bloatware using TB and removed the apk responsible for updating my facebook contacts profile pics. I notice this yesterday as my wife had changed her profile pic and status they have not updated in my contacts. This has been going on since the night I 2.2 it and rooted and removed the bloatware. Does any body know the apk (system app) that needs to be re-installed. I have downloaded the system apps.rar file and have all of them, I just don't know which one it is.
Is there a way to make it so that the facebook contacts, etc, don't show up in your default contact list? I just want to show the names and phone numbers of the people that I have actually programmed into my phone, not everyone that I have on facebook.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI can't stand the fact that the Facebook app automatically adds my Facebook friends to my contact list, but they don't show up when I open the People icon, only when I'm choosing the contacts to send or forward a text to.I want to be able to sync the contacts I have with their Facebook profile, but I don't want Facebook automatically adding contacts to my phone.And I can't just diasble auto-sync because there are programs that apparently need it running. The only other option I can think of is to completely remove Facebook from my phone and that's bullsh*t.I know it sounds confusing, but does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this? It woulddn't be such a problem, but now when I go to pick my contacts to forwards to, I have hundreds of contacts instead of the 95 or so I had before.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid.When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)
Ok so I just flashed JRummy's remix last night and since then I haven't been able to get my Facebook account to sync... I do the Settings>Accounts and sync>Add Account>Facebook and all it does is go back to the add account page... I had this problem before I used JRummy's so I don't think it is the ROM... (that time I just kept hitting facebook and it eventually worked).

The problem I have is that I only want about 10pct of the facebook list and only about 1% of the google contact list. And google has best email while facebook has picture and date of birth. Is there something that will allow me to combine these? how did you go about forming the best contact list?

So far this has not happened. I have over a hundred contacts on my phone and when I go to gmail on my pc it does not have any of my contacts. Am I doing something wrong, or was I misinformed?

I figured this out the hard way when 2 new numbers did not show up after a clean wipe a week ago. Only the 2 new ones were missing and the starred in android doesn't show accurate contacts, missing 4 that are in my main contact section but starred in the phone by me.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter I installed and evaluated the Companionlink software for syncing Outlook contacts, calendar, tasks and notes to my Droid, I noticed the gmail contacts were no longer syncing via the gmail sync. However, the gmail calendar and mail were not affected. I uninstalled all of the Companionlink stuff but the contacts still do not sync. Anyone know how I can get the contacts to sync via gmail again? Short of "reset user data on phone"?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with getting Facebook profile pics to show up with the majority of my contacts. Here is what I've done so far:
1) Synced my Gmail contacts with my Droid
2) Set Facebook settings on Droid to Sync Contacts
At this point, roughly 3 or 4 of my 70 contacts showed their FB profile picture. I am able to view people's FB profiles by clicking on their contact profile, but still no picture. After clicking on some contacts' profiles, their picture will appear, but this has only worked a few times (~3/20).
Does any one have suggestions on how to get FB profile pictures synced to all contacts that have profiles available?
I got my DroidX on 7/15 and on 7/16 linked all my phone contacts who have facebook to a facebook contact via social networking. I kike how the phone sets the picture, I like that in the contact entry it shows me thier status on facebook. What I don't like is that when I open up a contac that is both a phone contact and a facebook contact and I tap the facebook icon on the contact screen I get 3 options (view profile, write on wall, and poke). If I open up a contact that is only facebook and tap that same Icon I get 4 options (view profile, message, write on wall, and poke). Is there some reason linking the facebook contact to a phone contact needs to remove that option? I'd like to be able to send a facebook message from the phone to any contact as easy as I can send a text message.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have searched but I wanted to ask specific to DX to make sure I wasn't missing something simple. Google Contact Groups don't appear in my contacts on the DX regardless of sync. One of the group names I created did transfer over and Organization name.
I cannot sort the contracts by group on my phone. I either have all or none. Did I do something wrong (most likely yes, this was much easier in the BB world)? Am I missing a step, this appears to be a problem on all Android OS. So do I need an app to fix this?
I have come to the droid from treo/winmo/bb. On each of those platforms, they had a program that would sync contacts, calendar, todo, and memo from outlook. You plugged your phone in via usb, it would be detected, and voila, you would sync.I knew when I purchased the droid this couldn't be done natively. I have been able to get my calendar to sync with the google calendar sync app that so far runs fairly well. It syncs my outlook calendar to my gmail calendar.However, I want to sync my outlook contacts. Note, I did not say I want to IMPORT/EXPORT. I do know how to do that, and that is not syncing.
I want changes I make on my contacts on my phone to show up in outlook and viceversa. BTW, I am running pop, not exchange.It doesn't have to be direct connect, it can be through the cloud.The only thing I have found so far is soocial.com . I don't know how this works, and I am looking to see if anyone has found an acceptable solution to this issue so far. 'The missing sync' is supposed to release something at the end of the month to address this, but their solution is $40 and I don't know how well it will work as a 1st release.
I know there are lots of threads about syncing yahoo email to the Droid and I got that to work, but my question is syncing everything else (contacts, calendar etc.) Is there a way to do it? I have had my yahoo email address for years and don't really feel like giving in and switching to a gmail account.

My phone memory is around 33% whereas my husband's memory is 64%! He has very few contacts and I'm wondering if the syncing with Facebook is taking up all my phone memory (vs SD Card memory which is fine).
Has anyone found a way to take someone's facebook photo and add it to the Droid contact list? When I open my contacts, most of them have photos, which have been pulled from FaceBook, but 3rd party apps, such as Handcent SMS, only pull the images I have set for my contacts.Has anyone found a workaround to this issue?
