I'm having an issue with my Droid. I unrooted my phone from 2.2 because I ran tests on it and found that it is not running as well as it should be. I went to 2.1 and then found out that it was still rooted so my brother and I unrooted again down to stock 2.0.1. Now my phone will not receive the OTA so I can upgrade to stock 2.1. Does anyone know why it won't receive the update?

After reading that 2.1 is "supposed" to drop this week, I have a rooted droid running Beast 7.4 which has the OTA disabled. Is there a way to get the phone back to being able to receive the update without wiping all my text/e-mail/call logs/pics? I'm guessing it would require moving to a different ROM or just back to the original 2.0.1 update...but I'm not clear how to do it. If anyone can post a link or explain it in non-Linux lingo, I would greatly appreciate it! I just don't want to have to revert back to the original 2.0.1 and lose everything...don't care about the apps because I can just re-install those.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I was going to update to Froyo manually when I noticed that my 'check for system updates' is disabled in the about phone menu. I can only think of two reasons:
1. I'm rooted (doesn't seem likely)
2. I'm roaming but still on 3g (This would be annoying as I have to drive 20 miles to verizon towers)Any ideas? On a separate note maybe this is an advantage.I'm new to the Android platform and have heard of issues upgrading to 2.2. Maybe I should just wait until Moto puts out the patch?
How do you stop the phone from checking for and applying OTA updates? I had rooted mine, and I pulled it out of my pocket tonight to find that it had updated itself. I haven't check what effect that has had on my root yet, but I expect that it will cause problems now or in the future.
On the EVO, there's a menu option to stop the update checker, but I didn't see that on the X.
I have just purchased the DroidX coming from a BlackBerry Storm2. I have 3 Go Daddy E-Mail accounts that I use for my business. Can somebody tell me the best way to set the phone up to receive them?

Most recently during a phone call? I got this phone as a refurb from Verizon after the OTA bricked my last one. Does this warrant a replacement or is it a software bug I have to track down? View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought my Droid X a couple of weeks ago (2.2 and Rooted). It wanted to do some auto app updates and I told it to do them all not sure if it was before or after that that I noticed a red light by the ear "piece/speaker" and the phone was on and a battery level warning came on which I thought was premature. I plugged in the power cord the light went to green and I looked over a few minutes later and it was dead. I could be a little off on what happened when but that's what happened.
It wont power on now and I've tried holding a few different buttons while powering on and still nothing. I did check the settings the other day and it was successfully backing itself up not sure how to use that backup though. I just looked over after typing this post and the Motorola "M" was on the screen but I couldn't get it to do anything so I pulled the battery and tried again to boot it and nothing.
After updates i cant send or receive mms messages.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm rooted and I manually installed 2.2 a few weeks ago, but a couple times a week I get a notification I have a system update. If I hit install later, it keeps popping up like every hour or something like that. If I try to install it, it just says installation failed. Is there a way to completely block OTA updates so I don't have to be annoyed with this anymore?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs soon as the 2.2 update was leaked for the Droid, I downloaded it and applied it to my phone, rather than keep waiting for Verizon to push it out weeks later. The update process went smoothly, and I have been running Froyo for a couple weeks now.
The problem is, now my phone bugs me with the OTA update notification constantly, and the only options I have are to install, or install later. I have no option to decline the update. Is there any way to tell android to stop attempting to apply the OTA update? I am surprised it is even trying, as its already running 2.2 so why would it still try and update? If it matters, I have rooted my Droid.
I heard that I can tell my droid to do automatic updates when ever an app needs it. I have searched for where I can adjust that setting but I have found nothing. Can someone point me in the right direction?

View 5 Replies View RelatedWent back to NexBeast 0.2, love it. I was using Handcent, and removing both IM.apk, and Mms.apk, along with Mms.bak. I discovered that I no longer received mms messages which I was under the impression Handcent covered, so I went back to previous backup before removal of apk's, then uninstalled Im.apk and Mms.apk, did not work, I then only removed Im.apk at which point I received the mms, but one that had sound on it had no sound playing. Other things removed- talkback.apk, kickback.apk, soundback.apk, amazonMp3.apk, youtube.apk, carhome.apk, CorpCal.apk, and a few more can't remember right now. Other question, spec on BB v0.3: scripts; in the past I've used a set of scripts from DroidForums which I place in /system/xbin and then they are all available to me. This does not work for BB v0.3? The ROM has a lot of great scripts, but not general ones, like removing what app I want, at least AFAIK. Is there a way to do that with this ROM? Also when using Switch command, do I have to rename the app to the apk it is replacing?

To try ROM Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery because it is "obviously superior" in every way, shape and form. So, why so many updates ... especially for CwMod? And why does it seem that every other "update" causes something to break? And why is it that every time I tap on "Reboot into Recovery", it NEVER works. I have yet to have it boot into Recovery even once. It reboots, and that's it. O joy. I have the 'Boot Control' widget that boots into recovery each and every time, without fail.
So far, I'm not too awfully impressed. Sure I see the added functionality. But I'm also experiencing more than my share of FAIL.
I have two quick questions.
If I forced the 2.0.1 update, will I still get the OTA Update for 2.1?
And the other, if I upgrade to 2.1, will the rooting procedure still work should I want to?
At one point I managed to get the market Place to identify whether there were updates available to the apps I've downloaded to my Droid. I can't work out how I got to that list. Anyone know?
If not through the Market Place, is that an app that will check for updates for me?
I always like to have all my apps updated to the latest release and because of this I go to the Market->Downloads and checks for available updates about four times a day. Usually there's always updates sitting there. The hassle is when there's so many to go through them all and and install them.
Is there any app out there that can go through and constantly check for updates and install them automatically?
If not then I'm hoping someone can make one. It seems like a pretty simple thing to make. Then again I'm not a Dev so what do I know?
