I like to listen to audiobooks from the library. I use Overdrive, but it only allows me to download MP3's. I would like to be able to listen to WMA audiobooks, is there a player that will allow me to do this?

I'm using Meridian to listen to audio books, but I would sure love to find a player that let's me choose when to start listening. Meridian remembers where I left off in a book, but one slight bump and it goes back to zero. Sure would be nice to have it start at "minute 210" or wherever.

I did a quick search with "overdrive" and it yielded no relevant results that I could see so I thought I would venture a post on this app.So far I'm finding that when I hit the download button at the library I'm logged into it is recognizing the download key but nothing is getting downloaded. I'm speculating that the library does not not have the tech stuff in place to download to the Droid but that's just it.I have contacted Overdrive with the issue and they replied and asked what browser I was using. I thought Droids only come with one browser. I told them I am using the default Droid browser.Any others having issues? I realize Overdrive is a new deal to Android but this could be a great app. Most of what we (wife and I) listen to is checked out or rented so this option is a great value for us.

Do any of you use the Droid as a book reader? If so what app do you use and where do you order books that can be used with that apps reader?
Also I know you can play videos on the Droid. If I wanted to put my own ripped movies on the Droid can I do that? Does the droid recognize XVID or Mpeg? What movie player would I need to use? I have a whole bunch of tv dvd's that I want to rip and watch on the train.
Does anyone know if there is a way for either meridian or the regular android player to recognize audio tags on lossless audio files?

Not sure if cherry rplayer is the culprit or not. I have also noticed that my media player starts playing by itself...

Apparently my device is not being recognized as a storage. I did the unmount thinking. Also, I am wondering how I can play audio from my phone through the RR audio system.

My Droid come tomorrow. I have not the slightest idea to use it. But my question is, Can you listen to the Droid in the car like the iPod??? Is there a certain way to make it work or an adapter to buy? I am very electronic illiterate!

I've been reading about pulseaudio and I'm able to stream specific things, like mp3 files. But I wanted to let Android get everything that is output to pulseaudio. Like YouTube videos, desktop sound effects, music.
I have a problem on my Asus ME301T tablet with the Play Books app (I'm running android 4.2). Regular text based books work just fine, however, comic books show as blank pages. Sometimes it will load a few pages if I rotate the screen a few times.
I've tried to reinstall the app and redownload the comics without luck. It works fine on my Samsung i9000 running android 4.3.
I am getting the following error when I try to play some song using the standard "Music" App: "sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file" So far I have only had this happen on .ogg files. I can play some .ogg files with no problem but other will not play. Often there is one I can play and one I can't from the same album which I ripped from my CD in the same ripping session so the encoding parameters should be the same. Another weird thing is that I sometime can succeed in playing a song by finding it in OI File Manager and selecting it there. OI File Manager opens in in the "Music" App and it plays not problem, but I cannot open it from within "Music" App!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am seeing a very annoying problem with Google Listen on Android (I think this behavior has started since the most recent update a couple of weeks back, but I am not sure)I am using the Nexus One (Android v 2.1)
1. Start Google Listen, using the wired headset.
2. Start listening to some podcast
3. Press the play/pause button from the headset
4. With the old version of Listen, the podcast would be paused.
When you pressed the button again, the podcast playback would resume. This was very nice. However, now - when I press play/pause from the headset the music player starts up. Sometimes, the podcast stops when music player starts up, sometimes it continues to play. Sometimes I get weird error messages on listen. This is really annoying.
Is there any type of apps to read books (particularly Google books) on the Droid?

I like the prices that Amazon and Barnes & Noble offer for their ebooks but I think they are in a proprietary format. View 24 Replies View RelatedI've been using my Desire with normal headphones for a couple of weeks and have just tried the supplied ones with the remote control. I use Google Listen quite a bit and was downloading a podcast with it earlier. The problem comes when I try and listen to something on the media player - the << and >> seem to control both applications at the same time, so I have podcasts and music playing together! It also creates big delays in the reaction time to the controls creating clips from both apps being played randomly. Am I missing something or is the only way to do to 'force close' Google Listen in applications first?
