View 1 RepliesI have a problem on my Asus ME301T tablet with the Play Books app (I'm running android 4.2). Regular text based books work just fine, however, comic books show as blank pages. Sometimes it will load a few pages if I rotate the screen a few times.
I've tried to reinstall the app and redownload the comics without luck. It works fine on my Samsung i9000 running android 4.3.
This may sounds like a silly question but I don't have a smart phone and am thinking of getting an Android phone.
I noticed that Amazon has Kindle for Android application and I want to use the Android phone to read Kindle books.
If internet access is not required to read the Kindle book on the Android phone, then it means I can read the Kindle book in a remote area where there is no wireless service. Also, I don't incur long distance charges if I read the kindle book outside my local dialing area.
1. After I purchased the Kindle book from Amazon, do I need internet access to read the Kindle book on the Android phone (using Kindle for Android software)?
2. Is the Kindle azw file sitting physically in the Android phone?
Anyone else having problems setting up Google Voice? It just stays at the screen that says "Reading Settings". It's been this way for at least 15 minutes.

View 24 Replies View RelatedIs there a good way for me to use my Droid to read books? I presently use an IPOD touch and the kindle reader app but I was thinking on selling it. Do any of you use the Droid as a book reader? If so what app do you use and where do you order books that can be used with that apps reader?
Also I know you can play videos on the Droid. If I wanted to put my own ripped movies on the Droid can I do that? Does the droid recognize XVID or Mpeg? What movie player would I need to use? I have a whole bunch of tv dvd's that I want to rip and watch on the train.
I downloaded Aldiko and I'd like to purchase some books for it. I've seen some sites that sell in the epub format but they are a bit on the expensive side. I like the prices that Amazon and Barnes & Noble offer for their ebooks but I think they are in a proprietary format. I guess my question is, where is a good place to purchase epub books at a reasonable price?
View 11 Replies View RelatedFirst time post here. I did a quick search with "overdrive" and it yielded no relevant results that I could see so I thought I would venture a post on this app.So far I'm finding that when I hit the download button at the library I'm logged into it is recognizing the download key but nothing is getting downloaded. I'm speculating that the library does not not have the tech stuff in place to download to the Droid but that's just it.I have contacted Overdrive with the issue and they replied and asked what browser I was using. I thought Droids only come with one browser. I told them I am using the default Droid browser.Any others having issues? I realize Overdrive is a new deal to Android but this could be a great app. Most of what we (wife and I) listen to is checked out or rented so this option is a great value for us.

What are some recommended books for web application architecture?
We are basically looking to develop several front end applications (mobile and websites) that can query a central application pool that'll hit our backend database to retrieve the data. Is there a name for this kind of architecture?
I didn't see this posted anywhere here and thought it was cool. For those of you that like to read. (I totally copy and pasted this from the Tmobile forum.)Google has launched a mobile version of its Book Search application which gives Android and iPhone users access to over 1.5 million out of copyright texts from authors including Austen, Dickens and Shakespeare. Google has optimised the texts for iPhone and Android handsets, and users will need an internet connection to view them. The texts are separated under handy categories including General Fiction and Mystery, and the service keeps a list of recently viewed eBooks and allows you to bookmark your page.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI like to listen to audiobooks from the library. I use Overdrive, but it only allows me to download MP3's. I would like to be able to listen to WMA audiobooks, is there a player that will allow me to do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone know of a simple organizer app to keep track of books that you've read? I used to have a group in my contacts called strangely "books" on my BB storm. In the notes section I could keep an unlimited amount of information. Now on my Fascinate the notes section is limited and unusable for my needs.

I bought some books from the Play Store, and I'd like to move them in my brother's phone too, so he doesn't has to buy them again and we can share the price. Is there any way to do that?

Now in the JB some apps come preinstalled. Unfortunately they don't show up in the drawer but when I try to reinstall them, I get the error message that the application already exists. When I go to system/apps, they are listed there. I have market-enabler installed with the market set to the US. I can see all categories and can install the apps through Google Play (browser) on the phone. But I still get the same error message.
Is there a way I can unhide them and use them?
I have had the Droid since the day it was released and have had absolutely no problems with the battery up till now. I can still make it through a full day without having to charge it. But now it seems like something funny is going on. About a week or two back i had charged my phone over night(like i always do) a few hours later it alerted me that the battery was low and that i should plug it in(hadnt used my phone at all yet that day). I thought that was a little strange so i rebooted it, once it restarted i checked my battery and it was at 90%, i figured the phone just read the battery wrong for some reason and moved on. But today my phone randomly shut off and i had to do a battery pull to get it to come back on, i have read that the battery pull issue has happened to a few people so far so i didnt think much of it, but this combined with the false low battery reading makes me wonder if there is something wrong with my phone. Has anyone else had a false battery reading and if so did you need to replace you Droid?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI like my Motorola Droid very much but I have one issue that I can not afford to continue. When I read an email from my comcast account, it automatically deletes later on in the day or when I open my account on a computer. This is very discouraging as information is not available on the phone unexpectedly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCan anyone tell me how to setup a google apps (no gmail) account on a Droid X? I set it up on my Fascinate easily. I need to set SSL for outgoing, and TLS for outgoing. The Droid X only gives me the option of "use secure connection". The thing is, I got it to work as a regular email account last night, but then it stopped working. We have one ATT account through yahoo, and the google apps account from our private website. I tried setting it up as a gmail account since the settings are the same, but get the error "cannot establish a reliable data connection to the server."

View 1 Replies View RelatedSorry to already be asking stupid new guy questions, but I just made the switch to Android and my new Droid 2 apparently isn't reading my SD card. Any ideas as to why this may be and what I can do to fix it? Keep in mind I'm not overly tech savvy (but not incompetent).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI think I've seen somewhere that it's still not possible to read Google Calendar entries? I tried to search the forum, but didn't find any relevant threads. They mostly contain questions on java.util.Calendar.
Can I read entries? I understand that it might be fragile if it still isn't in the public API, but I don't mind updating my code when the API becomes public. (I don't need to modify or create new entries).
My app has large vertex arrays that are pre-computed before I even build the app for distribution. I'd like to store these in assets (recognizing the size limits of asset files) and read them in with minimal computation. Can I store them in binary, and just read them into an NIO buffer, and then wrap it for GL, or do I have to go through the whole compute intensive (?) process of reading it in, making a byte array, and converting that to an integer (in this case) array?

View 8 Replies View RelatedDroid X - Configured with a Google Apps Premiere, working great. Attempting to add a personal GMail account. Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.
