Android :: Want To Recreate I Phone Conversation Style
Apr 13, 2010I have my hand cent set an I Phone conversation style. The other day i was scrolling down reading messages and all of a sudden the bubbles went from about half the screen to stretching all the way across the screen. One on top of another. But they were still in bubble format and different colors for sent and received. They were just longer which i thought made them easier to read. I kind of liked it, but next time i opened it they were back to normal. I'm not sure if this was some kind of glitch, or if some way i was pressing down on the screen made them change. But I have not been able to recreate this.

Jun 3, 2010Does any of you know it is possible to disable the conversation style for text messages in the legend. I really prefer a separate in box and s separate box for my send messages. Most of the messages I send and receive are not conversations, so for me it isn't a good option for me. I already tried it with hand cent, but this also didn't have that option.

Jan 16, 2010I have always been a Palm girl, and decided to move onto the HTC Hero.I downloaded handcent, and I am sort of confused on how it or the default text messaging works.Why is it when I send a text, and receive a text from someone else, they all wind up in the same chat.Do all incoming texts wind up in one chat style window?I know on Palm each text had its own window sort to speak. If I replied, then it became a "chat".My incoming from different people wind up in one window so I am reading different peoples replies in all one paragraph like chat.

Jan 22, 2010when the stock Messaging app wasn't cutting it, I installed Handcent.But it started flaking out on me, so I dumped it and went to the more-reliable chompSMS.I liked it a lot.But to be completely honest, I missed some of the features of Handcent. But reliability is Job 1, so I kept chompSMS for a few weeks.Then I heard that Handcent received a major update a few days ago, so I replaced chompSMS with Handcent. So far so good. I got all the features back, and I haven't had one single issue in days of texting. So if you're like me and you left Handcent for chompSMS, you may want to give the new version a spin.

Feb 5, 2010I'm still getting used to using gchat but how do I close/delete a gchat conversation? I mean, if I go into "settings -> close all chats" it doesn't really do anything because if I go back and tap on someone's name, the entire conversation I just had is still there. Is there anyway to delete an entire gchat conversation like you can do with text message threads/conversations?

Jul 28, 2010I live in Indiana so one person is needs to know. I only need an app that will run on the Droid X now. I have reported it to the FCC, and they said to get a recording of the call and as much information as possible.
It's E Business Group (602) and the are calling for Anthony which is the wrong number, but as soon as I even start to ask to be taken off their list they say "Sorry for bothering you" and hang up so quick I can't even get the words out.

Jul 15, 2010Is anyone else having problems with handcent? It wont open the menus to customize the conversation list or the bubble settings, and sometimes the app itself doesn't even open. Does the app just need updated, or is there a problem with ny phone?

Jul 28, 2010I have found this forum very helpful, but can't find my issue anywhere. I just recently switched to the Droid X from an Omnia i910 (verizon) and love it! I used SMS Exporter (WM) and SMSBackup (android) to copy all of my SMS over. It worked perfectly; however, when i view a conversation my text box displays "A valid address is required to send this message". I am unable to type anything to text. If I open a new message and send it to the same contact, it updates in the conversation. When I open the conversation the error is still there.
I used the method from: here to do the SMS transfer.
I have also verified that all my contact names match up, and this issue effects all of my messages.

Nov 26, 2010I just got my Droid 2 today, and I have a few questions to ask with one notable one.
Most importantly, is it possible to change the virtual keyboard into an ABC style instead of the traditional QWERTY? I'm not sure which I would stick with in the end, but I would like to try out another orientation.
Wi-fi drains the battery, right? I have horrible phone service at my house(home for the holidays) but at school the service is great, should I bother using Wi-Fi regularly?
Also is it possible to have the screen wake up when it is touched? The lock screen seems a bit unnecesary considering that there is already a lock button, so it would be nice to disable one or the other.
EDIT: Also, it seems like my phone has decided to spam my contact list with all of my Facebook "friends." That seems like it could cause some problems...
Also do you have any suggestions for a music player over the standard one? I have not really looked through the market yet personally(mostly due to the horrible service here), so any suggestions are welcome.

For some of my other non-adult animation work visit:here, VERY IMPORTANT:
After downloading, for users that are not already familiar with this you will need to make sure that you rename the boot animation when ready to use to the name bootanimation.zip exactly as I have it spelled there and I do believe that it is case sensitive.
Also, if you are a newly rooted user or are not sure how to replace this I recommend using root explorer - and then follow these steps:
1.Rename file xyz.zip to bootanimation.zip
2.Copy or Move File
3.Go to System/Media
4.Select Read/Write setting
5.Paste and click OK to overwrite(possibly copy this to another directory for a bakup before overwriting or you will lose the bootanimation already in your phone)
6.Long press to generate menu and select permissions
7.Select rw-r-r or use all permissions
8.Select Read/Only setting
9.Reboot and Enjoy
Another option is to:
put the bootanimation.zip, using terminal into data/local ...
typing command:
#su
#cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local/
Keep the spaces it won't work without them also do not type the # symbols
# = superuser privileges
$ = no super user privileges
If anyone encounters any bugs, etc... or you just need a little more help on how to use these just post and I'll and I'm sure other users too, will be more than happy to do my/our best to correct any issues or assist in answering your questions.

Motorola Droid X :: Handcent Sms On 2.2
Sep 24, 2010So like everyone else I was getting really annoyed about the time stamp issue with handcent under 2.2. I looked at the release notes for handcent and saw that version 3.27 added some sort of timestamp fix for the Droid X. Apparently this actually causes problems with the DroidX 2.2 official release. I got an older copy of handcent (version 3.26) and now everything appears with the correct time stamps. I got the apk from here: Download Handcent SMS for Android at Freeware Lovers. You will also need to use the app SMS Time Fix from the market to address the problem with the delay that causes messages to be out of order. So I guess one less thing broken, now if only they can fix the double lock.

Jan 8, 2014I've developed a fairly extensive application. The problem began when I started programming...my spinners are the solid gray rectangular style (unlike the newer style with the triangle in the lower right corner). When I started developing this app several months ago, I couldn't figure out why my spinners were different (after many hours) so I just ignored it. I'm at the point now of polishing my program and want the newer spinner style. So, I'm beating my head against the wall again. I went to my Android SDK Mananger in Eclipse and updated my Android SDK Tools, Platform-tools, and Build-tools. I have the lastest versions of all of these (22.3 and 19.0.1). When I create a new project, the newer spinner style appears. However, none of my older projects changed. They still have the same old gray, rectangular type spinners. I tried using a "android format" line command I found while Googling, but no luck with that either.I'm using ADT Bundle with build v22.2.1-833290 on a Mac OSX Mavericks.

Jan 21, 2010So I downloaded Handcent and the handcent keyboard in order to have T9 functionality (I like to type fast with one hand), and found the Handcent T9 keyboard to be pure crap.
First, it doesn't even have basic words in it, but mainly the letters only show and the numbers don't, so have to do a seperate thing just to put numbers in. Since it was free I got what I paid for.
So I search the market and found Better Keyboard and then had to also buy its T9 app, called EvenBetter Keyboard and this is much better. Is it worth it to buy to apps (2.99+3.99) just for T9 when there was a half-ass working one in Handcent for free? I don't know, but I am happy with it.
Was wondering if other people used T9 on Handcent and/or EvenBetter keyboard and what are your thoughts.
Please dont let this thread become a QWERTY vs T9 fight. Just asking about T9 and which vendor do you prefer using?
Motorola Droid X :: Handcent X Conflicting?
Jul 16, 2010I'm trying to change my "Account Picture" in Handcent so that I'm not a silhouette with a question mark above my face in the chat threads. Unfortunately, when I go to change my Account Picture, it does nothing. Instead, it changes my X's home screen background to whatever picture I had selected for my Account Picture.

Nov 6, 2009I just got my droid and so far I'm loving it but encountered a couple of issues. I immediately went to download chompsms but it is nowhere to be found in the android market. I tried to install it from the web browser but it gives me an error message "There is a problem parsing the package".
So I installed handcent sms and it seems fine except when I go to compose a new message there are no contacts in the contact list even though I have all my contacts from my gmail account.
Motorola Droid :: Duplicate Messages In Handcent?
Mar 31, 2010I have been using Handcent for awhile. Recently been having problems with duplicate messages in Handcent. I think it started when I switched to Koush's Rom, but I can't swear to it. I use Google Voice for all my calls and text, but I send and receive my text via Handcent using my GNumber. The default client has the duplicates tos, so I don't think it is Handcent's fault but either the phone is somehow duplicating the message or the problem is with GVoice when it forwards the text to me. I can send texts just fine and no one has complained to me about recieving double texts, so I believe it is only my incoming messages. It also isn't 100% of the time, but I would say around 80%.
