I'm a new Droid X user. I love the phone so far, but have a question about text messaging. In particular, it appears I cannot delete individual texts withing a conversation. There has to be a way I'm just missing yes?

I can't wait for M$ to pull the trigger on hotmail activesync. Currently I am using gmail. If I want to delete a message it sends the entire "conversation" to trash.
Is there a way to delete single messages in a conversation? Sometimes I just want to keep the original, most important email but don't need all the replies that go back and forth.
Currently I go into gmail web version to delete single messages in a thread but that's a PITA.
I dislike G Mail because of the threading and it is SLOW but it would appear to be the only email client on android that can forward html so I'm stuck with it. How in the world do you delete an individual message of a conversation without deleting the entire conversation? When I expand a conversation, the messages have reply, reply all and forward at the bottom of the message but no delete. The delete button at the bottom of the screen (between archive and older) only wants to delete the whole conversation. What am I missing?

I want to delete that singular draft message, but I see no way of doing it, short of deleting the entire conversation or going to a computer to do it. (Come to think of it, I don't see a way to delete any of the emails within a conversation). Am I missing something on how to delete a single email within a conversation?
2) on an email thread, when I hit "previously read messages", it shows the messages in oldest to newest order, meaning I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the latest emails from a conversation. Is there a way to change the sort?
Is there anyway to delete single sms messages instead of the whole convo?

I mean, if I go into "settings -> close all chats" it doesn't really do anything because if I go back and tap on someone's name, the entire conversation I just had is still there. Is there anyway to delete an entire gchat conversation like you can do with text message threads/conversations?

I really prefer a separate in box and s separate box for my send messages. Most of the messages I send and receive are not conversations, so for me it isn't a good option for me. I already tried it with hand cent, but this also didn't have that option.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have found this forum very helpful, but can't find my issue anywhere. I just recently switched to the Droid X from an Omnia i910 (verizon) and love it! I used SMS Exporter (WM) and SMSBackup (android) to copy all of my SMS over. It worked perfectly; however, when i view a conversation my text box displays "A valid address is required to send this message". I am unable to type anything to text. If I open a new message and send it to the same contact, it updates in the conversation. When I open the conversation the error is still there.
I used the method from: here to do the SMS transfer.
I have also verified that all my contact names match up, and this issue effects all of my messages.
From what I am reading I take it you can not save single text message?
If thats so then why when I try and delete one it has an option to delete locked message?
What is a locked message?
On my old phone I could save/lock a message and it would not delete unless I unlocked it.
I have over 2,000 texts built up that I am currently trying to delete. Yet every time I try to delete the thread the phone seems like it cannot do it or seems like it is being over worked. Is there any other way to get rid of built up texts?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues receiving text messages from a single contact.I'm using the Huawei X1 - running Subpsyke's latest rom. I use GoSMS.The thread I speak of has 5522 messages in it - and I am unable to recieve messages. They send fine and I can't get them.
I believe that this may be because of the huge thread size. Is there any way of preserving these messages but creating a second, new thread for the same contact?
I have a thread of now, 2800 texts - every text to that person since i got the phone back in november. Now the Eris is very laggy, and deleting the other threads of texts helped, but everytime i try to delete this thread of 2800 (and counting) texts the program crashes and i have to force close it. I am using the OEM eris messages program.

I literally pushed the delete button when i went to bed the other night and 6 hours later nothing had happened except that i needed to pull my battery. Im a pretty private guy and i hate when my girl reads my texts i send and recive. with old phones id just delete my messages. but with my hero i cant delete messages in chompSMS nor the normal messagner app. ill hold down my finger and press delete and it just doesnt delete anything and most of the time crashes my phone and i have to reset my phone. this is VERY annoying because when she grabs my phone i have to fight to get my phone back so she doesnt see any of my texts that i CANT delete !
View 40 Replies View RelatedThe problem I'm having is trying to delete a thread of 1600 text messages from one person. Everytime I try to delete, it freezes my phone & have to force close the messages. Even turning off my phone doesn't work, I have to pull the battery out.
I tried looking up some answers on the forum. One member mentioned downloading Handcent. Unfortunately, that didn't work for me either. Same issues occured, phone froze & couldn't restart phone...had to take the battery out!
I have like 1800 texts from one person, and I use handscent, and I'm pretty sure it would take hours to do this, is there a quicker way to do it. I'm not even sure it would even delete them all after hours to be honest

I was ok with it at first but now its a problem and is making my phone lag. i try to delete them but it goes to a black page and freezes up and i eather have to force close or turn it off. is this happening to anyone else?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent for my SMS text app. I have about 6k texts on my phone now. Haven't deleted any since 2.1 came out and I needed to format. Sometimes my phone CRAWLS when receiving or sending a text. I mean it'll take 2-3 minutes just to send or receive a text. Handcent will hang for that long. When I power down the phone it usually improves responsiveness in Handcent but I'm wondering if I should delete the threads? Will I notice an improvement in text speed? I have no idea how much space a text message uses but I'm also wondering if I'm wasting internal memory space too. I don't have many picture messages. They are mostly just text messages.

That app works in a way, but has some defects, as follows, 1. Sometime it just doesn't work, missing the new message to delete. 2. Even if it works deleting the message, a notification sound and message still occur. Therefore, could any improvement be made to 100% block messages without any notifications? On the X10, is it possible to organize text messages so that they appear in an in box and sent items etc? Mine are showing up by each contact, which is good in a way, but I can't find a way to delete individual messages. It seems that all messages from a contact all form part of one long thread, even if I start a new message to a contact. That means that when I went to delete a message from a contact, the phone deleted all the messages from her. There wasn't anythign of special importance in them, but I'd like to be able to delete single messages.
I got my HTC Hero a while ago, it is running Android version 1.5. Now my problem is, I've never really deleted any of my texts, so now I've got loads of texts stored on the phone and if I try to delete them, the phone just crashes, it either just freezes up completely or comes up with an error message saying that it could not delete my texts!
Ive tried deleting texts by one person at a time, but as soon as it reaches somebody that has over around 100 texts, it stops. I've tried hooking the phone up to my laptop but I can only see the things that are on my memory card! Is there any way that I can hook up the phone to the computer and see all the texts there and delete them from there?
