I am new to the forum, so I am not sure if anyone has posted on this previously, but I am having problems with my dorids performance. The system lags when I try to drag from window to window. There is also a lag when I try to open Handcent or even just my call log.

when the stock Messaging app wasn't cutting it, I installed Handcent.But it started flaking out on me, so I dumped it and went to the more-reliable chompSMS.I liked it a lot.But to be completely honest, I missed some of the features of Handcent. But reliability is Job 1, so I kept chompSMS for a few weeks.Then I heard that Handcent received a major update a few days ago, so I replaced chompSMS with Handcent. So far so good. I got all the features back, and I haven't had one single issue in days of texting. So if you're like me and you left Handcent for chompSMS, you may want to give the new version a spin.

The over-the-air update for the Motorola CLIQ has been delayed to the week of February 22. An updated article will be available once a date has been determined.
On February 18, Motorola will begin sending over-the-air (OTA) software updates to Motorola CLIQ customers. The software update will improve device performance and resolve several known issues.

Important Rebate Changes

I have a Droid X running Froyo. It's rooted. I really want to organize all my apps into folders but lately different folders have been refusing to open. I click on them and they just don't open. Sometimes it's all of them and sometimes it's just one. If I restart it usually fixes the problem but sometimes I just have to wait for a bit. This is very annoying. I'm not using an alternative launcher or anything. Just the regular Motorola Droid X OS. Just rooted. Any ideas guys? Please let me know. I really want to get things organized again.

View 12 Replies View RelatedIve used Cm6 and had some homescreen lag issues so i tried liquid frozen yogurt 1.6 and i love it. i ran the slayher kernel and it seemed to be doing just fine. it is snappy and battery life is better than CM6. I also tried simply stunning v4.8. I really like SS a lottt but with the chevy kernel my battery life was absolutly terrible. I don't know why that was so i switched back to Liquid froyo 1.6 and my battery life is a lot better now. Does anyone know about UD extreme 8? ive heard good things but i just wanted to know a little bit more about it. So basically my question is what do you guys think the best ROM and kernels are for performance and battery.

Feature for feature both applications are pretty much even, chomp seems to have some features that handscent doesn't and vice versa, which leaves only a couple things left to compare, which is what my question is based on:In terms of looks, it is very subjective so i will just boil it down to clarity.Which UI is clearer, i.e has the higher resolution? I even pulled out the battery, but the same result.
Hey guys, can you do me a favor and go to running services and flick up and down a few times and tell me if you ever get any lag when scrolling all the way up and down? I do every time I go into it and I just don't know if it is normal or not. I see little hickups here and there when I am scrolling but it's always noticeable in the running services screen.( I have LP set to high memory)I am wondering if I have an app slowing things down for me. My battery life hasn't been good either (4-5 hours per charge) and it seems my free memory is low. After a fresh reboot it is 97 + 124 in 34 -- other 87 in 9.I love the phone and would never give it up, but would love it more if it was a bit smoother and more battery life (like lots of others are seeming to get).

I have a question about shutter lag. Is there a way to reduce the lag? I have been doing some of the suggested mods to the build.prop file and I am wondering if there is a mod we can do to reduce shutter lag when taking a pic.
My X recently (within the last week) started having extremely poor battery performance under the same usage conditions as the previous week (K-9 syncs every 15 min, maybe 2 texts per hour, 2-3 emails per hour, maybe 5 total minutes of phone use). After 4 hours, the battery would be at 20-30%
To make matters worse, most functions were extremely slow to respond (contact loading, test message loading, recent calls, bookmarks, any scrolling was choppy, etc.) The delay when trying the most basic things (opening the browser, making a call) was getting unbearable.
I started backtracking the changes in the last week. Although I started tinkering with Google's App Inventor over three weeks ago, that's where I focused. I uninstalled all App Inventor programs, including the Eyes-Free Text to Speech engine. This engine was recommended by Google to do things like read text messages in the Apps you create.
Still no luck.
I decided to investigate the battery use a little more. In Battery Manager, I found that "Android System" was using about 70% of my battery. I was typically used to seeing things like "display" at the top.
I have an app called Android System Info. This showed my CPU usage pegged at 100% (even after a reboot). It never got lower than 99%. The biggest CPU hog was "Android System" at 75-80%, consistently.
This App has a tab to view the log, and I noticed several recurring error messages in the log. They were occurring at the rate of about 180 times per second! The error? "Invalid TTS Engine" Well, the TTS is controlled by the "Android System". The "Android System" was constantly trying to load the uninstalled TTS engine.
I went into "Settings...Voice input and output", and, although the Eyes Free TTS engine wasn't available, the default TTS was not set. I checked the box to have the native TTS as the default, and checked the box for "Always use my settings".
Everything immediately went back to normal. CPU usage is now around 10-20%, and "Display" is back at the top of my battery hogging functions.
Battery life is back to over 10 hours, and the delays are gone.
I am wondering if there is actually an appreciable performance boost when overclocking the Droid CPU. Does it really improve performance, or is it more just so we can say "Hey lookee here! I OC'd mah Droid!"? Nothing wrong with the latter if thats the case, I am just wondering.
Specifically I am wondering about framerates in games. I have Angry Birds (for example) on both my Droid and my iPod Touch. It is smooth as silk on the Touch, but the framerate sucks balls on Droid. Wondering if OC'ing will do anything for that.
What exactly does this mean? Better signal or something If so I will be ditching my incredible like a 20 dollar hoe
View 22 Replies View RelatedDroid X gmail app: it used to go straight to my gmail INBOX whenever I selected the 'Gmail' app, but now whenever I have a Gmail notification and select the 'Gmail' app it goes to my account list and I have to select my Gmail account to get to the inbox even though I only have 1 account. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a way to make it go straight to the Inbox instead of the account list every time I select the Gmail app?

Available here: To all those adventurous souls out there, there is a new 2.1 ROM available at Alldroid that was built from a newer Nexus One build than Greek's. In this ROM, there is an updated music player. While the update is not very significant, it does change it a little bit. -There are no longer buttons for songs, albums, playlists, and artist. They are now tabs and always there. -If a song is playing, a "now playing" bar is always at the bottom of the screen -When you open an album, the album art is in the background of the song list. You can see in the following screenshots: Once you get to the song playing screen, though, it is the same as before. As for overall, the new 2.1 ROM is very good. Improved performance for sure. The gallery is very quick, browser, etc. GPS works, keyboard back light is improved. LED notifications still are quirky.

My question for the users that also seem to have poor battery life is, once your phone reaches 40% does a reboot give you more battery life? Every time my phone reaches 40% a reboot brings mine back up to 60%. This happens every time so it is not a coincidence or a onetime thing. I am curios if the reporting is off because it is almost 5:00 and i just did a reboot and now I have 60% left. I can live with 40% usage from 7:00 to 5:00 but I can't live with 60% usage from 7:00 to 3:00
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got my Motorola Droid and installed my little accelerometer app right away. All it does is registering a SensorEventListener if the user clicks the start button. It also takes the current time in millis. Every time onSensorChanged() is called, a counter gets bumped. After the user presses the stop button, the listener is unregistered and the time taken again. Using the values from above, I get a samplerate of 9 samples/sec which is WAY too low for what I want to do. The delay of the listener is set to SENSOR_DELAY_FASTEST. The Listener is registered within the main activity and is executed on the main thread of the process (I guess).
The G1 we used before was getting samplerates from around 35 samples/ second, which is way better, but still bad. Any suggestions on why the SensorEventListener performs poorly? The system is Android 2.0. App is compiled using API-Level 5.
So its pretty simple. Do you use autokiller? Does it seem to boost the performance of your phone? Chime in, good, bad, or indifferent.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to use Wireless Tether with my laptop and have noticed that it is extremely finicky. It usually works for a minute or two but then I can't load anything at all on my laptop. I'm not doing any heavy activity or anything, just browsing some websites, but it does this consistently. I have to toggle it off and on and reconnect my laptop before I can use the internet again. No error messages or anything, it just gets stuck at 0.0 kbps on my phone as if my computer isn't communicating with it anymore.
Does anyone have this problem or is this just a common limitation with ad hoc networks? Is there another solution out there? I'm using the leaked Froyo rom but noticed this with the official 2.1 rom too. Doesn't 2.2 come with built-in hotspot capabilities? I wouldn't mind using wired tethering either, but it looks like that won't happen until we can get a custom kernel?
I'm not sure if this is just me, but it's kind of strange. My web browsing goes 10X faster if I'm not tonnected to my Wifi at home. I have a wireless G setup, and the phone is connected to it with full signal strength. Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Whenever I do, it causes the web browser to automatically open and start playing an annoying "helpful video" from the Verizon site. Does anyone know how to make it stop loading? Obviously I can close it out, but it is really annoying. I have root, so I can access the internal memory and delete the offending file. I just don't know which one to remove.
