Motorola Droid :: Charging Stopped Fully Working?
Jul 1, 2010
My Droid wall charger stopped fully working this morning, and Im not sure why. It may be either that the charger is broken or the port is. When I charged the phone this afternoon on my car charger, it worked fine, but I did notice once that the input piece for the car charger is slightly wider than the wall charger, and the wall charger has seemed to fit loosely in. I cant tell if anything is actually wrong with the silver input piece on the wall charger. Should I buy a new wall charger or take the phone to Verizon to get the the port possibly fixed if that is the issue? Can they even fix the port?

Was on my way to Florida yesterday and my phone was charging, and it just shut off. When I plugged it back in, it just flashed the notification light. Now it doesn't do anything now. What sucks is I am in Florida, and wont be going back till the 28th. Guess I'll be phoneless till then.

This weekend, returning from a roadtrip, I fired up my Navigation and got only the "Searching for GPS" notification in perpetuity. Network location was working. Chalking it up to cloudy skies and just general Murphy's Law, I carried on without thinking much of it. After about an hour on the road, the skies had cleared and I tried again...same thing. My brother was in the car who also has a droid. He tried his and GPS located and worked just fine.
Yes, my GPS is on. I've turned it on and off several times, went into and out of airplane mode, of course rebooted. Did a battery pull today. Still not working. Uninstalled most recent updates on the Maps app, didn't work. Reinstalled the updates...well, why would that make it work.
The GPS "broadcasting satellite" icon comes up in my status bar when attempting to locate...just never succeeds. It seems to be not working for any App that requires GPS (i.e., not just Maps or Navigation)

Several weeks ago I was using the default mail client and my (free) Yahoo account just randomly disappeared one day. I decided to download K-9 mail and give it a try. Setup was easy and it worked like a charm. No deleted emails coming back, no multiple messages in my sent folder, everything just worked.
That was until a couple days ago. I noticed that I hadn't been getting any email notifications on my Droid through K-9. I opened the app and the last email showing up was from 2/6/2010. I did the refresh and nothing happened. I held down the power button and choose "Power Off". I turned it back on. I went to K-9 did a refresh, it said it was checking my Yahoo account but it didn't retreive any new emails.
When I log onto Yahoo online I have new emails (both read and unread) but none of them are being retrieved by K-9. What is going on?

Couldn't find exactly what I was looking for in the forums. Yesterday, my home button stopped working on my Motorola Droid (1). It just gets really aggravating when I'm in the browser and I have to keep hitting back until it exits. Does anyone know if there is any way to fix this?

I received my new Droid recently (yes, for Christmas), everything was working fine - even while using the Open Home feature.
However, some time this past week - or longer - the voice mail notification has stopped working. No blinky light, no icon, nothing. I have tested using the regular Home and the Open Home - same results. Just a missed call notification. Further troubleshooting steps I have taken was just powering off the phone and powering back on. I have also removed the battery for a couple of minutes and replaced, still the same. I have also cleared out all voicemails and left myself a voicemail, still same thing. Only the missed call notification.
I have installed the following applications within the past week...
Gang Wars
GeoBeagle
Jewels
gStrings (it's a guitar tuner, get your minds out of the gutter...lol)
Meebo IM
MyMarket (which I'm uninstalling after this post)
Mystique
Texas Hold'em
Weatherbug Elite
Robo Defense
Google Skymaps
Goggles
FourSquare
Fandango
Flashlight
Droidlight
Layar
PicSay Pro
I could just do a complete wipe and reload to see if that resolves my issue - but my question is, the applications I have paid for, will I have to pay for them again? Or does it keep track of what you purchase?

My light has stopped working. The LED isnt dead, cos I DL'd Missed Call from the Market, and it works with that app, but not when I get a text, tweet or FB invite/msg/event. It flashed green for: tweets and texts and Blue for FB notifications.

Does the newest version of BB disable LED notifications? If so, how do I turn them back on? I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how or why none of my LED notifications are no longer working. I'm running the current version of BB, used ChevyNo1's 1.0Ghz 5 slot update.zip for OC, and am using AdamZ's Smoked glass theme.

Also I cant seem to escape out of the app. I have tried backing out using the arrow key, Ive tried using the "quit" option on the app and Ive tried to stop it using the phones running services. Have a D1 running stock. Was working fine, then the strange happened. The left side of the phone stopped working. None of the icons on the screen or the back arrow. Everything else seems to be working. If I set it to the phone log the phone will begin to make calls on its own. So do I go for a new one or is there a fix for this?

I'm getting a lot of conflicting opinions. Matchup:
1. This site strongly recommends that you charge your battery before activating it.
2. Other sources have noted that you should start it up and use it until it is mostly drained before charging it.
Does anybody have any scientific evidence to support one theory over the other? What are the consequences of letting it drain before charging if you side with #1?

My specific device is a GSM Galaxy Nexus.
So, I have 3 batteries for my phone. 1 stock (1750mAh) and 2 extended (2000mAh). No I don't need all that juice... its a story for another time. Anyway....
Lately when I charge a battery in the external charger (using a USB cable and the wall plug supplied with the phone) the battery will not fully charge. The LED on the charger will change from red to green (Usually I charge the battery overnight, or while I'm away at work during the day). However when I put the battery in the phone, it will show somewhere between 80%-90% charged.
1) Would a 100% drain and charge reset the battery's "fuel gauge"?
2) My phone automatically powers off at 6% (which is fine, needs enough juice to save current settings and power down properly). Is there a way to truely drain the battery down to 0%? (I'm thinking of some kind of low-voltage lightbulb or LED connected to the positive and negative terminals should drain that down to 0%. Is this recommeneded or is it fine just running it down till the phone powers off?
Normally I try to plug my phone in and charge (or power off and swap batteries) once they hit about 40%-60%. I'm only interested in doing a full drain to see if that will get these batteries to fully charge in the desktop charger. Besides I've read from a few sources that it is GOOD for the battery to do this once in a while (Fully drain, charge to100%) to properly maintain them.
And as a side note, charging the battery in the phone (either with the wall plug or from USB cable on my computer) will always result in a 100% charge, which makes me thing the issue is with the desktop unit itself (perhaps faulty circuit that cuts off charge current when it thinks its full ?)

I dropped my phone in a drink and I took out the battery and I let the phone parts dry overnight in a bowl of dried rice. After putting the battery in the phone, the phone works.. It's just the touch screen part doesn't fully work. Everything on the touch screen is fine except for the home button, the clr button, the menu button, and the search button don't work. Usually when you press them they kind of vibrate but they don't know and they just don't press basically. Is there anyway to replace the screen?

I've had my HTC Desire for about 2 weeks. I have searched through the forums for info...but between threads getting off track or just not understanding anything, I thought it would be easier to ask basic questions about my particular issues.
1) What is root? I have the 2.2 update, I am happy enough with HTC and my carrier (Telus) and I don't need tonnes of room right now.
2) Speaking of room, I try to put my apps on my SD card with the 2.2 update but only Google Earth and Night Sky are able to do it. All of my icon packs etc. wont go to SD. I'm pretty sure I have lots of room left so I dont think this is a huge issue.
3) Battery issues. I didn't do the first full charge as I had to use the phone asap when I bought it. I don't have much going on with my phone, no active wallpapers, just weather toggle and clock, text and a few phone calls, check a couple websites, maybe a video here and there, and sometime use GPS for maps. I keep my screen on zero percent and I soft touch the power button to go black screen when i'm idle. I turn off gps and wifi when not using them. With that said, I cant keep the phone idle and off charge overnight without it going to zero. After a charge I lose 10-20% in the first hour. I have never lasted a day on a full charge.
4) After playing around with customizing my phone with icons and widgets I am done. All I need this phone to do is make phones calls, text and check my favorite websites. I use my tracks when I go running and listen to music when I run. Thats all I want it to do. Its a phone so I would love if it could keep a charge in case of an emergency. I was late for dinner the other night because my battery died and I couldn't even call to say I was late! so....
5) What do you recommend I do with my phone to keep it as basic as possible and powered up?
6) What are the key apps to make this the best user experience?
7) When in my pocket I lock screen but once I found that I had 23 unsuccessful attempts to open screen from jiggling around in my pocket lol. Is there anything to help me with that?

I just use Quick Settings and I used to switch sometimes between on/off in the mobile data. I don't know what's the problem...I even reset my phone and reinstall everything but the mobile internet doesn't work to me. when I tried to enable my mobile data on Quick Settings, for a second the 3G Icon appears on the top of the screen and then it disappears. it looks like something stopps my mobile internet working.

Android 4.0.4 on a Motorola Electrify II (phone is about 2 months old).
Set the Battery Full Notification - it worked well for awhile, then simply stopped. (???)
Text message notification still works fine, but not Battery Full. I have tried resetting, and volumes are turned up for everything including notifications.
The local store suggested that I look online for an answer (hence this post), they said the phone settings looked fine. If a fix isn't found online they will restore the phone to factory settings to see if that works.
