I was testing some apps that can move to the SD card. They move fine and run. After reboot i notice 2 things.
1. Icons i had on the home screen default to a generic droid icon similar to the market place icon. The apps original icon is gone.
2. Apps moved to the SD card disappear from the programs app try Is this just a bug with all 2.2 roms?

Do you guys have problems with missing icons that just get replaced by the default android icon? 2 apps I have, are missing their icons. Nav Launcher and Pandora. Any idea why or how to fix it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm new to rooting. If I wanted to change my rom, is there a way to backup ALL of my apps (some of them didn't come back) and my screen setup and icons? I have a lot of custom icons and it was a pain to set it all up again with desktop visualizer.Or is there a better way to set certain icons as defaults to programs?
View 4 Replies View Relatedfrom my "root" folder i create. the only app that stays on the folder is astro (which does not require root). even if not on a folder, my root apps disappear from any of my home screens. no problems w/ them in the app drawer. running bb v.0.3 but had this problem since bb 0.1.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo i have my contacts in my phone, fine and dandy, when i first got my phone i accidently synched facebook contacts with my phone, meaning every person on my facebook with a phone # on their fb was imported into my phone, you know as well as i do, 90% of our fb friends arent phone contact friends, so i unsynched fb..now the issue im having is this. If i go into messaging, and in the To: feild i start to type a persons name in my contact to text them, for some people it doesnt show up, altho if u go into my contacts their name is clearly there. The other issue, is when i start to type names, it still brings up peoples names and numbers from FB altho their contact isnt saved in my phone..so everytime i wanna text someone i hasve to goto contacts, find them, clickhold and select text contact..kind of annoying for mass texts ect....

Heres a picture in paint to illustrate what I mean. any input? It started doing this a few days ago, so like a week after the software update.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI can see two sides of this. By placing apps on the SD card you free up memory so your phone runs faster and smoother. BUT! I know that different cards read and write at different speeds. SO, in theory, you could slow down how fast your apps run by placing them on an SD card. Is this the case? Or does the card run fast enough that you are only seeing improved performance.

View 3 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this is an issue with the ROM I'm using (Sapphire 1.0), ADW Launcher, or just an issue with Android. Any app I have installed on SD doesn't show its icon. Example, I had a shortcut to Vignette on my home screen. Once I moved it to SD it no longer showed the little Camera icon, just a generic Android icon. This happened with every app I moved.

I'm running UD 2.1, and loving the shit out of it. However, I have a couple questions about apps on the SD card:
-Is it possible (and/or smart) to put all apps onto the SD card?
-If yes, what's the best procedure? (partition required?)
-Does the market recognize apps to update/etc from the SD?
-Can you set apps to install to SD by default?
-And finally, if all apps are on the SD, does that remove the need to backup/restore apps when switching between roms?

I want to know how to transfer apps to SD card. When I go to settings/manage applications, the Move to SD button is blacked out. For the record, to go back stock all I have to do is plug my phone in, flash 2.0.1 with RSDlite and download the OTA. right?? I mean when VZW puts out the real 2.2, I assume if I went to that I would be at a disadvantage? I see a lot of people with the processor speed on their home page. How do I get that there? Any good free mp3 apps out there?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRooted Motorola Droid 1 running UD8. Having trouble with my apps that are on the SD card not appearing using LauncherPro. Getting to be very frustrating. Appears that LauncherPro loads faster than the SD apps. I have been successful in "Restarting" LauncherPro in the "Setting, Preferences" tab. When LauncherPro restarts the apps are then their for use. This does not happen very often when I aas I go on. Very, very frustrating to have apps on Droid and not being able to use them. Any help will be appreciated. Ready to move on to something else if I cannot get a working runnaround. This is what the window with the SD card apps that do not work looks like. This is the message I get when I try to use one of the SD card apps. This is what it looks like when I go into "Menu, Applications" to look at my apps. Stays this way forever. This is what it looks like when I try to move an app. Never changes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy original phone kept shutting off and then wouldn't boot into the Android OS, so I took it back to Verizon today and they replaced. They swapped out the SD card from the original phone and put it into the new phone. Here is the interesting part, two of my apps were on the new phone without me having to go to the market and download them again. Shopsavy and Robo defense free were both on the new phone right at the start up of the new phone, leading me to believe that full apps can be installed to the SD card? The only thing I could think of to explain them being back on my phone but not on the SD card would be that part of the program was on the SD card and when it booted up it say the .exe for the program wasn't there so it went out automatically and downloaded them again without me giving the phone permission to do so. I don't think I'll hit the 256 max anyways but considering the concensus is that you can't save the entire app to the SD card I found this interesting.
