Motorola Droid :: Apps Installed To SD Card
Aug 30, 2010Not sure if this is an issue with the ROM I'm using (Sapphire 1.0), ADW Launcher, or just an issue with Android. Any app I have installed on SD doesn't show its icon. Example, I had a shortcut to Vignette on my home screen. Once I moved it to SD it no longer showed the little Camera icon, just a generic Android icon. This happened with every app I moved.

Nov 17, 2009My original phone kept shutting off and then wouldn't boot into the Android OS, so I took it back to Verizon today and they replaced. They swapped out the SD card from the original phone and put it into the new phone. Here is the interesting part, two of my apps were on the new phone without me having to go to the market and download them again. Shopsavy and Robo defense free were both on the new phone right at the start up of the new phone, leading me to believe that full apps can be installed to the SD card? The only thing I could think of to explain them being back on my phone but not on the SD card would be that part of the program was on the SD card and when it booted up it say the .exe for the program wasn't there so it went out automatically and downloaded them again without me giving the phone permission to do so. I don't think I'll hit the 256 max anyways but considering the concensus is that you can't save the entire app to the SD card I found this interesting.

Aug 18, 2010When you install an app to the SD card, what is the name of the folder or directory it goes to? I have Astro file manager and when I use it to look at all the folders on the SD card, I don't see any folder that remotely looks like it would be the one. I have opened up all folders that I don't know what's in them and I don't see the apps. Unless I'm missing something. Has anyone figured the name of the folder containing these SD card installed apps?

Jul 6, 2010I put a few apps on my micro sd card (via phone mounted to pc over usb) then I opened astro and installed them on the phone. Apps work fine; but I can't update them? All it will let me do is buy them...? WTC?

HTC Incredible :: Query About Sd Card And Astro Installed Apps
Jun 25, 2010Once I download an apk and place it on sd, and install it with astro file manager, does the apk have to stay on sd card or is it permanently installed to system until deletion?
For example my SuperUser.apk, wireless tether.apk and swype.apk were installed from sd through astro. I also have these apk's backed up with titanium backup. If i delete them from sd will they be removed and uninstalled from my system?
Also... I did a nandroid backup with the great clockwork recovery. This only backs up ROM and not apps/apks....right?

Aug 23, 2010So I just installed Easy Root because I was so disappointed with the new OTA update I just had to do something...So a few questions that I have are what are some must have apps to have with having a rooted Droid 1. Not much seems to be different, I am still having lag time from loading up my icons when I go back to home which was originally my main problem with the update. I have so far just downloaded Rom Manager, Wireless Tether, and Set CPU which is set at 600 mhz Max and 125 Mhz, is that alright? My last question is how do I delete the pre installed apps? Custom Roms, and kernels whats that all about? Sorry for the new bs questions I'm just really lost and have no idea what I am doing.

Dec 4, 2009Is there any way to generate a list of all the apps installed on your phone that I can save/print? I'd like to create the list in the even that I need to reset the phone at some point (and also 'cause I'm a bit OCD about backing all kinds of stuff up). I've reset my phone four times (due to returns for HW issues) and have never had the google backup process actually restore my apps for me (and yes, backup is turned on in Settings). So anyone know of an automated process or marketplace app to do this?

Mar 21, 2010I looked at every guide there is and im pretty sure I have a good grasp on the rooting concept. Anyway, I did the update.zip from the recovery menu. Then I went into Rom Manager and installed CyanogenMod. Unfortunately it got rid of all my default apps. market, etc. Also, does anyone else recommend a different rom? If I proceed to install the app it informs me that it is going to overwrite the current app. Is there a way to register installed apps without reinstalling each app? I am afraid that I will not receive updates due to the phone thinking the apps are not installed.

I'm running UD 2.1, and loving the shit out of it. However, I have a couple questions about apps on the SD card:
-Is it possible (and/or smart) to put all apps onto the SD card?
-If yes, what's the best procedure? (partition required?)
-Does the market recognize apps to update/etc from the SD?
-Can you set apps to install to SD by default?
-And finally, if all apps are on the SD, does that remove the need to backup/restore apps when switching between roms?

I am unrooted FYI-(all factory settings) I have the Astro filemngr...how the heck do i transfer my apps to SD so my OS wont be bogged down(won't this action help my phone w speed??) my mDroid tells me that "space" is limited,"isn't that b/c I have not put those apps on my card. Do they automatically load NOT on my card.
