Motorola Droid :: Adding To Contacts From Incoming SMS

Apr 16, 2010

It seems like I am just missing something obvious. I receive an SMS or incoming call from someone's new cell. I want to update an existing contact. I long press the number click add to contacts, but when I chose a contact it doesn't include the number. I end up writing the number down and then updating it manually. Sorry if this is a repeat post but the words are just too common I wasn't able to find anything. Everyone seems to just add to contacts with those steps but I'm just not getting the numbers I inputted anywhere.

Motorola Droid :: Adding Contacts To Phone W/o Adding To Gmail

May 3, 2010

I want to add a contact just to my phone and not to my gmail account.Whenever I start to add a contact (phone, 208544.menu, +contact, create new contact,) the next thing it forces me to do is to choose an account to create the new contact under and it lists my 3 gmail accounts.I have no option to just put it on the phone.Any ideas here?We do the same thing on the Incredible but it gives us the gmail account and the phone to choose from but not on the Motorola.

HTC Droid Eris : Contacts Adding Themselves

Feb 28, 2010

I've had my Eris since December and I love it. Question I have is every email I send through Gmail on the phone adds that contact without me wanting it to.

I get a lot of emails and I don't want every email I sent added as a contact. Most of the emails I send are one time shots.

HTC Droid Eris :: Adding Website In Contacts

Feb 1, 2010

Many of my contacts have websites that I need to add to their Contact card.Is there any way to Add a URL / WWW address to a contacts info card and have it show up on the phone and be clickable? Like the persons Home address and email fields are. I see no field on the ERIS for this info, However, The Moto DROID has it.If I Edit or Add the Contact from my PC, using Google Contacts there is a Field for this info, but entering it in there does not add it to the ERIS contact info.Out of Frustration I added URL's to some of the other preset fields listed (Company, Mailing address, Other etc..) on Both the ERIS and Google Contacts on the PC, but doing it this way just adds unclickable text to the Contact card.Any help would be appreciated.

HTC Droid Eris :: Manually Adding Address In Emails Without Saving In Contacts

Dec 31, 2009

I'm using the HTC mail app (and have also tried in the Gmail app) and want to send a message to 2 people who are not in my Contacts (and don't want to add them since this is a one-off type of thing). How do I do this? I tried typing in the first address and using a comma or a semicolon as the delimiter/separator before entering the second. I get an error saying that the address is not recognized.

Motorola Droid :: Contacts Only Syncing To Google All Contacts Not My Contacts

Jan 16, 2010

I seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid. When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:

1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?

2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)

Motorola Droid :: Incoming Calls Not Working

Feb 11, 2010

I just got my Droid yesterday and all of the sudden about two hours ago my girlfriend said she tried calling me for the last 40 min and my phone would ring once and go to voicemail. Earlier in the day i called Verizon to cancel my Visual Voicemail and after the rep did that for me he told me to dial *228 and select option 2 to update my roaming features....so I did.

Since then my girlfriend had the issue of her calls going to voicemail and my phone not even ringing. Can *228 cause this issue? Is this a common problem? I called Verizon back and the rep told me to dial *228 and hit option 1 to reprogram my phone. I did it and tried calling my phone from my other line and it is working fine. I can make calls no problem too. I calle my Droid about 15 times and everytime it went through. Is it possible for a specific person's phone to have an issue getting through to another phone?

So the other day i got a call and i pulled the phone out of my pocket and tried to slide to answer and nothing happned. I tried to slide it to drop the call and nothing happened. I then mashed a bunch of buttons in frustration and think i rebooted my phone. It did it again to me today, though after about 10 seconds it finally allowed me to answer the phone. I have weatherbug going without GPS as that killed the battery, also have pocket empires going today.

Motorola Droid X :: Cant Unlock When Call Incoming?

Very occasionally, when I get an incoming call the contact picture and info shows up, the slider shows at the bottom of the screen, but no matter what I do I can't slide it to unlock it. Has anyone else had this problem?I'm relatively sure it's a hardware problem with the touchscreen, but wanted to check to see if anyone else has seen this problem.

Motorola Droid :: Sometimes Rings Only Once For Incoming Call / What's Going On?

Apr 3, 2010

Often my Droid will only ring one time for an incoming call. If the call is left unanswered it is auto-answered after a "normal" amount of time. But I can watch the screen of my quiet Droid after the initial ring and count the seconds until it's auto-answered with my recorded greeting. It should be ringing during that time.
It seems to do this randomly, though it's really tough to troubleshoot and tell definitively. I sat for two hours with my wife's Droid, my laptop phone program and our regular house phone and got consistently inconsistent results!
I've yanked every phone call specific app and reinstalled them systematically, rebooting each time. I've taken a look at system apps to see if there is a conflict. I've also looked at (and pulled & reinstalled) audio setting apps looking for a conflict.
I've changed ring tones to MP3 clips, and while they do play in their entirety, they usually repeat and they are not. I've even done a hack to the system/build.prop file that changes the delay before the phone rings.
I just can't seem to figure out what's going on. Anyone have any ideas?

Android :: Adding Contacts To Groups?

Nov 24, 2010

New to android and really like it. However, seems like the maintenance of contacts is a common source of confusion. I have contacts from my Gmail displayed. I have a created a group of contacts that I have been able to add contacts to. However, not all contacts are available to be added to this group.

Under the general contacts page, all the contacts are there (including many imported from gmail that I don't care for since every email that has ever been used seems to be saved). When I go to edit the group and add a contact, not all the contacts are displayed as available to add. I have gone into my gmail contact list and made sure that the contact I want to add is listed under the "my contacts" heading.

For some reason it wants me to create yet another ringtone from the already created one if I want to assign it to a contact again.I cant seem to find the option to just assign a ringtone to a contact.I think installing Zedge as well may have wiped my existing custom ones I did.Is there not a way in the system to assign ringtones to contacts without an app? Or a simple app to do it?

I recently got a Nexus 4 after spending the last 5 years or more using an old Sony Ericcson phone.

Today I went to add my phone numbers into my new N4 and it keeps asking me to add them to either my Google or Hotmail (I setup e-mail already) account. Why? I don't want to sync them, I just want to have them there on my phone. I've exported my entire phonebook as a CSV and VCF file on my PC, I but I really cannot find how to import without it also syncing with Google or Hotmail.

Android :: Adding Contacts Using ContactsContract In Batch

Apr 21, 2010

adding new contacts in address book and apply them in batch by using new ContactsContract API. I could not find a proper tutorial on this. I am able to add a single contact. But batch update fails with Unknown contacts being added. Currently I am looping through while loop while collecting info. of users to write, store it in the ArrayList and applying and ContentProviderResult[] result = getContentResolver().applyBatch(ContactsContract.AUTHORITY, op_list); But only one contact is updated with name and other are updated as unknown contacts. Please help with a sample code which adds the fields like name, nickname, mobile, title, email, skype id,work-country etc.
