Motorola Droid :: Way To Disable Incoming Text Sounds?
Mar 5, 2010
My music constantly cuts out when I receive a text message. Anyone know how to make this stop quickly without going into all the phone's settings and disabling everything? Or using the volume rocker?

Is there an option to auto disable my sounds while recording video? I forget sometime and it sucks during one of my life capturing episodes to hear my R2D2 ringtone to go off.

Ever since I upgraded to the newest 2.2 leak, when I get a new text message, I get a duplicate of it. It's really annoying, does anyone know how I can get rid of this? I tried switching from the stock to ChompSMS, but it's still happening.

How would one go about doing this with a Droid 2? I'm trying to add them so I can set ringtones for individual contacts, so when they call, I know who is calling me. I have tones already picked out and saved to my Gmail account. I thought I would be able to set them from there, but it turns out that's not possible. I used to be able to do this on my LG Chocolate.I had sent the tones I wanted using a service called Mobile17.

Hello everyone! I just purchased a Motorola Droid on Friday and have been playing with it non-stop all weekend... I do have a couple, maybe silly, questions...
1) Whenever I power my phone off for the night then plug it in to charge, it keeps turning on. Is this normal? Is there any way to stop this from happening? Will this have an impact on my battery life?
2) Is there any way to change the sounds for text message, emails, and other notifications? I am coming from a Blackberry where EVERYTHING has its own sound.
3) I've been looking through the "Most Popular App" threads and, of course, am open to your suggestions. Is there anywhere online where I can easily look at all of the available apps/programs?

I am going to be doing some international traveling and my first destination is Shanghai, China. Questions are as follows:
1. Will my droid 1 work internationally?
2. Is there a way to disable the phone feature and only use text?
3. If I text, will there be any additional fees?
4. If I do take a call, how much would it be?
5. If I use skype on wifi, will it work or cost me anything?
6. If I do disable the phone feature, will skype and text messaging work?
7. Will my email still check over 3G or whatever signal? Is there additional fees for this?

Right, I know this issue has possibly been touched on in another thread, but I cannot for the life of me find it.So, my question is this.
Is it possible to use your own sounds for incoming messages and alerts?I know you can assign individual ring tones to people in your address book and change the default ring tone, however I would like to know if there is a way to do that for incoming message sounds and so on.Any help or insight? Also Crossposted due to their being 2 areas of interest

Is there an app or method that would mute incoming sounds/vibration for Hangouts/SMS until I dismiss the notification?
I'm always getting short texts from people instead of one long one. So my phone dings/vibrates for each one. I want to know about the first one, but not every one after that, at least until I put my phone down again.
If it was possible to do this on a per-contact basis, that would be even better.
I'm fine with rooting my phone or whatever else I need to do to fix this.

For some reason when someone text messages me it plays no sounds. Just started it today. I checked all volume settings and everything is on. Even selected a new ringtone still no go. It plays sounds so its not the speaker. Any way to fix this?
Also I fixed my numbers not coming up in my gmail contacts sync last night. Now the phone wont recognize my gmail contacts. I made sure all sync settings were turned on. Anyone know how to fix this. Search the forums and went to manage applications and cleared all google apps still no go.
Phone is still on 1.5

Just making the move to the Eris after using the iPhone for two years. I've taken great joy from making custom ringtones and "new text message" sounds in iTunes etc. Will I still be able to do this with the Eris? If so, how?

Sorry if this has been asked... I've searched and so far nothing. I just got my new Droid Eris. So far I love it, except for my text message sounds. My ringtone works as my new one. My notification sound plays my preference (Clapton's Layla) when I have an email and such, however, when I get a text message, it still plays the default sound. Is there somewhere you change this other than notification sounds?

I have two emulators, SNESoid and NESoid. When I load either, if I don't disable all sounds, the sound is very choppy/distorted and the game is boggy. I've played around a bit with the frame rate settings, but to no avail it seems. Does anyone know of any potential settings in the program or in the phone settings that could be causing this, and what I might try to fix them? Thanks

All, my wife and I both use Handcent SMS.If we are talking on the phone and a text message comes in, the phone call instantly ends. This happens on 1.5 and 2.1. To clarify, incoming text messages during a phone call causes both of our Eris phones to hang up on the caller.

I tried to delete all my text messages by going to manage applications, force stop on it and clear data. It didn't delete my messages but now the options to set a specific notification sound for text messages is grayed out.
1. How do I delete ALL text messages from ALL contacts?
2. How do I un-grey the notification sound options?

I want the incoming message to show up on the home page when it is first received, like the iphone does, it covers a good portion of the screen, for a few seconds even when the phone is asleep, then it goes away until you wake it up. I tried Handcent and I'm now using ChompSMS. With Chomp you get this tiny little ticker at the top of the screen, that is all. Is it possible to have that feature with this phone?

is there a way to turn down or turn off the click sound that the keyboard makes when you use it?I'm not talking about the audible touch tones in the dialer, or the selection noise when you select something, I'm talking about when you're texting or whatever, and the keyboard "clicks" every time you press a letter.I find the sound very loud and annoying and I can't seem to turn it off unless I put the phone on silent. Is there a way to turn theses sounds down/off?

I think it'd be pretty cool to see what notification sounds everyone is using. I find it hard to discover new sounds when the time comes for it.
These are my current notifications:
SMS: Orbitz Alert ringtone - download this ringtone for free
Email: Stock Droid Sound

Yesterday an application crashed on my phone and made it behave weirdly. Now, every time I type a text it makes little sounds, from a typewritter. That is really annoying, how do I turn that off? I can not find the settings anywhere.

I have just noticed a couple days ago that some of my sounds aren't working on my Droid X. Ringtones, alarms, notifications work. Audible touch tones, audible selection, keyboard typing and some other sounds in games are not working. Also, when rebooting the "droid" sound isn't playing (not sure if that was taken out with froyo.) About a week ago these sounds were all working so I know it wasn't the update that killed them. And yes I've looked and made sure that all the checks were selected for these sounds.
