I have photos still in my gallery that I have deleted already. When I try to delete them again the "delete" option is grayed out. When I do the "select all" option it says that it is deleting them but they are still there.

This is my first android powered phone ever. I just migrated from a crackberry and I do love the phone, it just irritates the holy moses out of me. Its a Samsung S4.
The phone has this nasty habit of not deleting my files that I want to delete. I am talking about photos here. old crap photos that I dont want anymore or that are somewhat inappropriate as I use my phone for business but they constantly reappear on my phone. I have no idea where they are hidden or go and then come back from. I have even taken the SD card out of the phone and deleted them off there only to find them back on. I had SYNC completely disabled but that is also not an option as I have lost work due to emails not getting to me in time, silly damn phone.. So how in the world does one permanently delete the photos of the phone and why do they keep on popping back up after being deleted? Especially if you use the rapid shoot mode, i dont want to keep all the bad ones but after I delete them they reappear.
I was deleting some photos that my Droid X automatically uploaded from my laptop (does anyone know how to stop this?) and accidentally deleted photos that I had taken with my Droid camera. I'm still trying to figure out how to save photos from my droid to my laptop so they weren't backed up.
1. Are there any recovery utilities I can use to recover my pictures?
2. Is there a good manual (better than the one verison offers) that will tell my how to do things like sync to google and troubleshoot some other connection problems I'm having?
I have done some searches and cannot come with the answer I need. All the photos I take are moved to the SD card and not available to the gallery. It seem they stay in the gallery for about a day and then they are moved. I cannot figure out how to bring them back to the gallery or to so that I can send them out or edit them with the phones photoshop. The photos taken with the camera are on the SD card in the DCIM file while the downloaded photos are in the download file but I am not finding any menue that allows me to retrieve them back to the gallery.

2: Music, despite me manually dragging some albums over from my laptop, be it in its own folder for the album title or stuffed into one folder called Albums, the music app or Cubed cannot see them, and when I open Cubed it says there are no playlists and dies a death, doesn't give me the opportunity to search for songs on the phone and create one!
Are these issues that have been documented elsewhere? Anyone experience anything similar? Should I be placing my music in one specific folder? the photos should not be disapearing since the phone dictates where they are kept so this one is irritating me!
I have photos I took with my 10mp camera and put them on my droid and before I updated to 2.1 when I zoomed in, it didn't lose any resolution. Now with 2.1 when I zoom in it looks blurry. So now I can't view the photos in it's full resolution.

I DO NOT want to use the .nomedia or ".foldername" method because then my music player will not see and be able to display the album art. I just want the Gallery app to ignore pictures in the music folder. Does anyone know of a way to do this?
When I uploaded photos from my phone which is a HTC One x it shows all the deleted photos that I took which I deleted on my phone also it keeps duplicating the photos so end up having 3 of each photo.

I haven't done anything unusual, although the phone did a spontaneous reboot this morning. All the rest of my files seem to be there, including some desktop background images that showed up in the photo gallery - it just deleted the photos that I've taken. It's not rooted or anything, just running stock with the OTA update. WTF is that all about? I am beyond fed up with this kind of garbage.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just mounted my Evo as a disk drive so I could backup some of my older photos and then delete them from the SD card to free up space. Well I deleted over 1gb of media files and when I unmounted the SD card it still showed the same amount of free space as before.I opened up Astro File Manager to see if I could find the problem and the files were deleted from the various folders but when I clicked the menu button and selected Tools, I went to view the SD card usage and noticed a folder labeled .Trashes which contained the 1+gb of files that I deleted from the card.The problem is, I am unable to clear the .Trashes folder and free up that extre 1gb of space that I should have...Is there something I am doing wrong? How do I get that extra space back because there is no option to delete or clear the .Trashes folder and when the phone is mounted as a disk drive there is no path to that specific (.Trashes) folder.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some old magazine scans on my Desire. Just updated to 2.2 and now the pages are all out of order! The covers are in the middle of them all. Even though when I look at these files on a computer they are all in the correct order. I have some photos on my phone too, they are all messed up and the phone is not sorting them by the filename it seems. Is it sorting them by the date the photo/scan/pic was created?
Anyway, my pics are a mess and I was wondering if there's a way to sort the photos by the filename given, like a computer does. Also, before I go, sometimes when I go into Gallery (or Photos as it was before) sometimes the phone seems to get stuck on creating the thumbnails for each folder, gets half way down and decides to start again, resetting all the thumbnails to blank, this can go on for ages and makes getting to any lower down folders impossible, cos the screen always scrolls up to the top when it starts re-creating the thumbnails.
Is there anyway of making the Gallery look a little more tidy? Every photo I have, be it received, downloaded, bluetoothed, or taken. It seems to create several different folders. I can't seem to find a way of merging these folders to make it look neater & some folders cannot be deleted? Are there any apps to help me, or is it one of those annoying Android things?

The problem I have is that each image in the list has to be resized before it is displaying the view. Is there a way to link to the thumbnail view instead of the full size image so that I don't have to resize them or is there a way to load each picture as it is sized instead of having to wait for them all.
I'm primarily a WP user so I know almost nothing about Android from the last E years. Well, I figured that I might as well get a brand new moto X during the firesale (bamboo backed BTW) to test drive and I may be over thinking it, but um... Do I save my images to photos or gallery? They both sense, but why are there 2 options?

The application mainly uses SOAP webservices to communicate with the server, but I do not know how to serialize a stream of bytes in KSOAP and therefore I need some help. The solution should not necessarily use KSOAP. A valid solution would be to upload the photo on some server, and just retrieve the URL, which will be stored in the database.

I don't know if it was a pre-installed app by Samsung or I had installed it manually and I can't remember the name of that. I need it for my new Galaxy Note...
