Basically I have a video clip in .WMV and I wan't to take the audio and make a ringtone out of parts of it.
For some reason on my mac I can't get this to work with Audacity.

Same happens when I play back on my PC. I have read some forum posts that were similar but none of the solutions offered have worked for me. I have done the following: Played back on phone, WMP, VLC and Quicktime.

I'd like to emphasize it is the PHONE ONLY and that all videos played great on the computer. Is there any solution, or maybe a better mp4 video software out there? I'm down to a video quality of 320x240 and 350kbs, but the video still starts to lag the audio. If I pause and then play, the video speeds up to "catch up" to the audio for a split second, but then slowly falls behind again. Overall, I've been really disappointed with the incredibly slow processor on the Eris. It's not like this thing was HTC's first smartphone or anything...
View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm big into freestyling. i have over 1500 instrumentals on my phone.i can't figure out how to play them and record myself (either audio or video) at the same time.i figure i'm either gonna have to download a new music player that won't close or a video/audio recorder that won't close the "Music" player that came with my evo.and before anyone goes tryin to be smart, i realize that even if i was able to accomplish such an action the quality would probably be really low due to speaker and mic being so close.my intent is more of a "on the fly lyric composition" rather than a " put myself on youtube to show everyone how awesome i am"

I have read a few articles on this now, but I really don't understand exactly what the blocks apply to. It seems to apply to "RTSP" streaming, but I'm not clear about what this is and whether this just applies to live streaming, or also to recorded video such as clips on the BBC News site.Does this apply only to Vodafone, or also to other networks? I was thinking of getting a new contract with Vodafone because the coverage with my current provider Orange in my area is very poor, and because Vodafone have the best price for the Desire. However if this streaming problem applies to all video on Vodafone, I may well pay a little more and go for O2. I don't know whether this would make any difference, but I will be going for an unbranded and unlocked phone through CPW.

View 3 Replies View RelatedQuestion: The EVO 4G plays an audio file whenever you adjust the ringtone volume with the volume rocker buttons. Does anyone know which file this is and where it's located? Why I'm asking (in case you're interested): I'm one of those that does not like to hit the power button everytime I want to sleep/lock or wake up my phone. It's simply an awkward button for me to hit and I'm afraid I'll wear it out over time or accidentally drop the phone. So, I'm using 'Screen Off' to sleep the phone with homescreen shortcut and 'No Lock' to prevent the phone from going entirely into lock mode. This lets me use the volume rocker buttons to wake the phone. The problem is that each time I hit the button it plays the 'plunk' sound indicating the volume level, which is driving me a little nuts (think Chinese water torture). I've been unable to find a solution to this problem, and am now looking at finding the media/audio file for this and simply replacing it with a silent audio clip. But I searched for all media files in /system, played them each, and couldn't find a match.

I have used various programs from HandBrake to Sony and I can get audio with no video (mp4). I can get audio with still image video (wmv). The DI seems very picky as to which videos it will actually play back. Is there a recommended way to convert my videos / DVS into a format the DI can play?

I found that media scanner didn't process ".aac" file, so the "music.aac" file doesn't exist in music player. But Android supports AAC/AAC+/eAAC format.So who know the reason that the ".aac" file doesn't be processed by media scanner.

I want to stream a media file on web, and android developer website has said that MediaPlayer.setDataSource() can set the data source (file-path or http/rtsp URL) to use. But I got an error in both G1 device and emulator when streaming a rtsp url file: Command PLAYER_PREPARE completed with an error or info PVMFailure error(1, -1). Does anyone know what is this error, or anyone knows where can I get the error description (1, -1) means? the code can work successfully when playing a audio/video file or streaming a http protocal sudio/video file, but can't stream rtsp protocal file. Is android not supported rtsp streaming?

I got it to work well using a 848x480 ratio with avs converter, but it was only a 2 minute clip of the movie I want to drop on the movie ironman 2 that is 6.71gb from a blu ray.
View 29 Replies View RelatedThis is 2010. I refuse to believe that you can only play movies/video files that have .avi, .mp4, .mpg, .mkv file formats by converting. I remember Sony was slow on the uptake when they started the media server streaming which I use on a daily basis at home now.Is there a program that will decode the files as you stream them? Any codecs to install on the Droid X? I have thousands of video files and "converting" is time consuming not to mention creating two video files instead of one to play on devices. Converting is BS and whoever thought "Let's just have the users convert the video files" needs to take a long walk off a short pier.

1) I exported the animation as .mp4 and it came out around 4mb. Is there a way to create an .apk using this mp4 file that will work as live wallpaper and if yes how?
2) Do I have to multiply the width if I want to fit more than one screens? So for three, would it be 540 x 3?
3) Can I just repeat the main live wallpaper(540x960) instead of multiplying the width so that the same animation appears on all screens?
My fiance upgraded from LG Voyager to Droid 2. She wanted her old ringtones from the Verizon Media store so she downloaded them. When she stored them they were given default names. I was able to make the appropriate ringtone associations, except for voicemail. I have 2 questions:
1. How do you set a ringtone for voicemail? When I run the standard voicemail app (Verizon) I cannot being up a menu.
2. How do I change the name of a ringtone file?
Is there an Android equivalent to the iOS Core Audio / Audio File Stream Services? I need to be able to read audio bytes from a network and feed them to the audio system under my control, so I can do my own timeouts / reconnects / range requests / etc. without interrupting the audio playback (since the system audio thread would be playing audio already enqueued). It seems that MediaPlayer doesn't give me this level of control. Is there a lower-level framework that does, either in the SDK or NDK?

I am trying to play a ringtone that is specified as the Default system ringtone. Unfortunately when i get the actual URI I get the above (content://drm/audio/2) and then when I try to play it, I hear the fallback ringtone - the one that you'd hear if the default was unavailable.
Ringtones appear to get this URI when downloaded through sites such as Myxer and the like.
Now it seems that when the default ringtone is on the SD card under a folder called 'ringtones' I do not run into this problem.
I have tried to add the line:
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_DRM" />
...to the manifest but that doesn't seem to work either.
If anyone has an idea as how I would be able to play this ringtone, I would be eternally grateful! I have been researching this and I can't seem to find anywhere any documentation on how to do this.
My wife's Captivate stopped ringing today...
No ringtones, no notifications, no mp3s, no sound on videos...calls show up and you can answer, talk and be heard, just no audio other than that.
Media volume up full.
Ringer volume up full.
Notification volume up full.
System volume up full.
Not on silent.
Not on vibrate.
Haven't tried it with a bluetooth headset because she doesn't use one.
Hasn't dropped it...nothing like that.
