Maybe I'm a bit OCD but when I choose a nice wallpaper with a design in the middle, I hate how it flips when the screen does, and when it rotates back its off center.

I'm trying to draw some large circles on the canvas which are partly offscreen, then use animation to rotate them in be fully visible. My circles successfully rotate in, but when they come into view they're clipped at the place that was the screen edge when they were originally drawn. Is there any way to prevent this? I guess my larger question is how can you draw elements beyond the edges of the screen and then animate them into view?
View 2 Replies View RelatedToday randomly my phone has stopped rotating when in any application, from the browser to messages to mail. I don't know what could have caused this, as I have been using it normal ever since I got it and not messed with anything. Running stock froyo, does anyone know of this and if there is a way to fix? I already tried disabling and enabling autorotate from the settings off and on a couple of times and nothing.

In restoreManagedDialogs, it has something to do with mManagedDialogs.As you can see, for advanced feature, you must do the saving and restoring job by yourself. It may be a night mare when you have tons customized dialogs. I have not tried the complex dialog (has input EdiText, listView, say). In this way, I'd like to warn users: Never rotate the screen when inputing your info in the dialog... OR, lock the rotation dynamically when showing the dialog.
I have been reading through the manual for the Desire and it states that you can have a different lock screen wallpaper to the wallpaper when the screen has been unlocked.
However, I can't seem to manage this at all.
Does anyonw know if this is possible or if it is an error in the HTC manual?
The reason being I would like to have a nice bright lock screen image but a normal black background for when apps and widgets are all over it.
However if I try to change the lock screen wallpaper, it doesn't give me the choice of "wallpaper gallery":menu -> wallpaper -> lock screen..just takes me directly to my photo albums.How can I choose lock screen wallpaper from the existing wallpaper gallery?

Can only pick a time between 15 sec to 30 min. The Smart Alarm Clock doesn't work properly because it requires that the screen is on during the entire night. If I do get something to protect my phone, what is the best material/brand/manufacturer to go with? Or perhaps just a leather case would be enough? That way the screen stays perfect and it's still protected when I'm not using it.
After all, I heard the screen quality is pretty good. It's glass, or am I thinking of a different phone? It might not be a "Gorilla" screen like the Samsung Galaxy, but I've heard it's pretty resilient. I'm not buying my phone from Sprint, so I doubt they would exchange it if I got dust under the screen. Is it easy to pop the phone open and hit it with a blast of compressed air if need be? Also, what's the best case for preventing dust? I know the Otterbox cases are fantastic at this, but they don't seem to support the Hero. Also, is Android 1.6 available for the Hero?

Any way to change how the phone behaves in regards to the screen waking up after ending a Bluetooth phone call? Windows Mobile handled this correctly. Android does the opposite.
For example, I am on a phone call using BT headset, I press the power button and put the phone to sleep, put the phone in my pocket, end the call and the screen wakes up with the dialer open. Guess what happens next.....pocket dialing!
WM would end the call and the screen wouldn't turn on, and even after waking it up it was locked.
BT headsets, voice dialing, but I can't just leave the phone in my pocket?
End call should equal no wake or unlock(no action)

Is there a way to override the auto lock with a manual one? I'm not sure my kids could make an emergency call if they needed to, it's such a chore to make a call.

View 1 Replies View Related I've tried so many app's over the last couple of days that claim to stop the screen from locking but they have all just bypassed the lock screen... Well, they've tried to anyway. These kind of work arounds don't actually stop my phone from locking in the first place though.
My phone is a W008+ iPhone clone with Android 2.3.3. When it's charging, the screen will time out and switch off; But it doesn't lock. So I can hit any key to bring the screen back on and as it wasn't locked in the first place, I'm taken straight back to where I was.
When not charging, I get the same behaviour for ~2 or 3 seconds... Any longer and it locks forcing me to use the power key and swipe the lock screen along with any other security measures I may have in place.What I'd like is to be able to set the 'lock' timeout in the way that I can set the 'screen' timeout.How far will I have to go to get this functionality?
Is there a setting I've missed? I'm very new to Android so there's lots I don't know yet.
Are there any app's that can really do this? Maybe this would need a root app?
I've successfully implemented onRetainNonConfigurationInstance() for my main activity to save and restore certain critical components across screen orientation changes.
But it seems, my custom views are being re-created from scratch when the orientation changes. This makes sense, although in my case it's inconvenient because the custom view in question is an X/Y plot and the plotted points are stored in the custom view.
Is there a crafty way to implement something similar to onRetainNonConfigurationInstance() for a custom view, or do I need to just implement methods in the custom view which allow me to get and set its "state"?
I have an activity that shows up when the phone screen goes to sleep/turns off ie turns black.
For some reason, the phone turns on when the volume buttons or the camera buttons are pressed. By turns on, I mean the screen wakes up or comes back from the black screen state.
I've tried using dispatchKeyEvent(KeyEvent event) and the buttons are disabled on the activity, but they still wake up the phone.
Can Webview tell me that I didn't get a HTTP 200 OK HTTP response code? I really don't want to display the Android Web Page Not Available screen inside my app.
