I have just recently upgraded my LG G Flex d959, service through t-mobile, to Android 4.4 kitkat. Since I performed the upgrade my device doesn't alert me when I get a text message. Most of the time it does, but every so often it is just like it's on silent.

Even with my headphones plugged in the text sound can be heard through the phones speakers. It's annoying how do I turn it off?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to get a different sound to play for text messages than emails? It would be kinda nice to know in the middle of the night whether I need to reach for my phone or not. Shouldn't be an unreasonable request, but I can't see any way to do it on the phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI jut picked up a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I am trying to change my notification sound for text messages. I put an MP3 file in the appropriate folder, and selected it in the settings menu on messaging. It keeps reverting back to the old default message notification sound.
How to get it to believe I want to use a different sound?
I have done a battery pull, as well as restarted, and rechecked the boxes for repeat sound notifications for my text messages. The repeat sound is set at every 2 minutes. I do receive the original sound notification, but, I never get the subsequent notices. Verizon is at a loss...gee imagine that...But, at the same time, the Haptic (vibrating touch) randomly unchecks it's box and I lose that function about every 2-3 days also.

I moved from my Nexus 4 to a new Nexus 5. I want to export the data from the stock messaging app on the Nexus 4 into Hangouts on the 5. It looks like Hangouts won't convert them if they're not already in a messaging app on the same phone. I've tried installing Go SMS on the 5 but it won't see the messages either. I'm trying to move them using My Backup Pro.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy definition/expectation of a 'notification' is a graphic/text message with the option to enable/disable a sound to alert me that the notification came in per app.
I want to:
1- enable/disable graphic/text per app
2- enable/disable sound per app
For #1, it looks like I have to go Setting>App Manager>All>Uncheck 'show notifications'. But, apparently that will disable everything...ie, no graphic/text or sound. I've tried lock screen and notification apps without luck so far......
When I woke up this morning all of my texts were gone. I do not have anything set to delete them. Why would the phone delete all of my messages?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was excited to see that Google had updated the stock Email app to be more like the latest Gmail app so I installed it on my Nexus 7. I was almost shocked to see that they STILL haven't added the 'auto fit messages' option like Gmail has. How can Android be so far along and still not have this extremely basic option? I know a few 3rd party email clients support this, but it seems crazy to me that they didn't do this.

Until recently when I received a message and swiped down on the notification bar I would see the contact's picture next to the text message. I have saved contact pictures for most of my gmail contacts (had to since google won't pull in Facebook picture but that's another gripe). Recently however, the contact picture does not display in the notification area when I get an SMS. It just show a grey/black/white image where the contact picture should be. The contact picture still appears in the actual text message and in my list of text messages but not in the notification area. I have a Nexus 5 which I believe is up to date on all updates.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI did attempt to use the search feature here but didnt come up with the results I was looking for (or maybe I used it wrong?) I ask the following questions because unfortunately, I dont have good eyesight.
1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?
If I need to paste text from another app in my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy SII, O2, Jelly Bean), like from Google Keep or Docs, into a text message it tends to convert from an SMS to MMS. This leads to a charge for me as my SMS messages are included in my tariff but I have no allowance for MMS messages. I presume that this might be something to do with character encoding or other formatting data that is pasted in, but that is only a guess.
Is there any way to stop short messages from being converted to MMS messages like this:? I couldn't find any 'paste clipboard as plain text' option in Android Jelly Bean.
Besides an app, is there a way to change the sounds for incoming messages? i mean to something i made. Or a way to silence it at all? i thought i was in the right menu for changing it, but i didn't see anything about silencing it.I downloaded ringolite.. and it said to silence the normal one first, and i couldn't find where to silence it. just to change it to another stock sound.

I absolutely loath those messages that scream, blare music, say offensive stuff, etc. With my old Lotus, you actually had to choose to play the attached audio, but I can't find anything anywhere to set this on my new Evo. If anyone knows how to either make the audio in messages manual instead of automatic, or just disable their audio completely, I'd be eternally grateful to learn this!

But any already released software that really works with KitKat? (I used the Nexus 5 SMS app on my Nexus 7 in order to restore SMS, but along with good text is a lot of spam. Go SMS Pro does not work for me, it will only save drafts, not send or block.)

I run Nova Launcher on my phone and I love it. Buy any time I switch to another launcher, including the stock launcher, my text message icon has a 1 by it. I have checked and I don't have any messages. I don't really want to delete all my messages.

My messages show up, but when I swipe them, the lock screen slides over to a second page. I tried playing around with some of the lock screen settings, but couldn't figure anything out. Am I missing something completely obvious, or is this somehow not possible to do?
Brand new S4 received yesterday, stock OTA 4.4.2 pushed by Verizon about 5 minutes after my phone was activated.
After playing a bit more, I found that if I swipe to the second lock screen page, then back, if I tap on the message notification it will open, but tapping before that yields nothing.
Since I updated my phone yesterday...When I go to create a text message and enter the recipient it is not finding anyone. There is a few names/e-mails that pop up but not the ones im looking for. My address book is still the same and it is people I regularly message.
