Is there any way to get a different sound to play for text messages than emails? It would be kinda nice to know in the middle of the night whether I need to reach for my phone or not. Shouldn't be an unreasonable request, but I can't see any way to do it on the phone.

I have just recently upgraded my LG G Flex d959, service through t-mobile, to Android 4.4 kitkat. Since I performed the upgrade my device doesn't alert me when I get a text message. Most of the time it does, but every so often it is just like it's on silent.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI jut picked up a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I am trying to change my notification sound for text messages. I put an MP3 file in the appropriate folder, and selected it in the settings menu on messaging. It keeps reverting back to the old default message notification sound.
How to get it to believe I want to use a different sound?
I have done a battery pull, as well as restarted, and rechecked the boxes for repeat sound notifications for my text messages. The repeat sound is set at every 2 minutes. I do receive the original sound notification, but, I never get the subsequent notices. Verizon is at a loss...gee imagine that...But, at the same time, the Haptic (vibrating touch) randomly unchecks it's box and I lose that function about every 2-3 days also.

View 30 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Droid Incredible and record my video in 720p. When I copy the file to my pc Windows Media Player does not play the audio of the .MP4. The video plays fine however. (All playes fine on the phone)
I have a camcorder that also records 720 mp4 files, and it plays audio and video just fine on the same pc.
It is possible that another player might play the file fine such as VLC, but I like Windows Media Player, and prefere not to have 3-4 media players taking up resources on my pc.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get the sound to play with the USB connection on a computer? I know I could probably get a head phone jack, but it would be much easier to have one cable. (example, I'd like to play the fm radio through PC speakers)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the HTC Incredible and one of the things I haven't been able to figure out is how to set incoming phone calls to vibrate, yet play the notification sound. None of the profiles seems to make that combination happen. If I switch it to silent, no sound or vibrations happen for calls or notifications. In the vibrate profile, both calls and notifications only vibrate. In normal mode, I can't get calls to vibrate only. If I slide the call ringer volume all the way down and slide notification volume up, it switches it to silent mode. If I have call ringer volume up one notch from silent, it still plays the ringtone. Is this something I can accomplish or do I have to have silent calls only if I still want notifications played?
View 2 Replies View Relatedlast night I got tired of waiting for the 2.2 update so I installed unrevoked forever, 2.15 radio and the third wave rom from adrenyline. After all that went smoothly I decided to throw the standard clock undervolt hydra kernel in there too. After I did that I got sporadic reboots and the screen became very unresponsive. Also it seems to cause the phone to freeze whenever it has to wake up to play a notification sound or alarm...
Now I have to say that I had the same problem about a month ago when I tried one of the older Hydra Kernels, but I figured it would be fixed with the newer ones. My question is it seems that I am the only one with problems, all the posts I read about these things are positive with little or no issues. Am I installing it incorrectly somehow? Is anyone else having issues too?
In my application, RTSP streams play only sound without video, but if i specify the video path as a local file, it plays the video and audio.

Since the update to 2.2 and a factory wipe...I no longer get my incoming text message alert (sound) while I have the messages open. I open text, read, respond, then might set the phone down and have no alert that I've received another message. Used to be fine pre-2.2/wipe.

Well now, I'm not getting any sound when I have an incoming text. I'll get it maybe once in a GREAT while.
So I received a text message from someone not in my contact list. The sms came from someone that said ##########@vtext.com.I didn't know who it was and responded who are you. Now I realized who it is before they responded back and want to text that number again but have no idea how to find that text.Anyone have any idea how to view texts that are not attached to a contact or even review all texts for that matter?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI seem to in almost all instances not be receiving text messages. This is definitely hit or miss. I've determined it's not service related as it's only happening to me, and it's not location related. It's not related to the services of the people texting me. It's definitely not every single time, but it's a lot. My messages seem to be going out without a problem. After extensive testing I seem to have narrowed down this problem somewhat. There seems to be a problem with the messaging app on my phone. I determined this by downloading Handcent SMS. The moment I did this, I started receiving text messages again consistently and without problem. Uninstalling the program put me int he same place I was before. Can anyone determine what the problem may be with this additional information. Perhaps I have done something ill-advised to my phone so here is as much information about it that I can think of:

I am running a 2.1 rooted phone with (as far as I know) the stock ROM that came with the Incredible (prior to 2.2). I purchased the phone with 2.1 and it did an OTA update to 2.2. However there were so many problems with the update that I decided to go back to 2.1. I did this and rooted which seems to prevent the OTA update even though I don't have a custom ROM. In addition to Rooting, I disabled (using the method of moving the files to a disabled folder)

Aside from this and installing some apps, I haven't done anything that I can think of to the phone that may have caused this problem. There are only a few apps that I've installed that I didn't have before downgrading and rooting my phone.

I do occasionally receive a text message but it seems more "miss" than hit. As far as I know, I was not having this problem before I went to 2.2 (and then downgraded back to 2.1). Since I'm back at 2.1, I don't see how it should be any different from before unless I did something. Seeing as how it doesn't look like anyone else has had this problem after rooting (as far as I've been able to see in the forum). I'm hoping I've missed something. I've tried *228 option 2 (and option 1). Nothing else seems affected, not call quality or email or any data services that I can tell. I'm of course perfectly willing to completely reset my phone but only want to do that if it will actually do some good.
I woke up this morning with my phone saying i have 2 texts. i then open up my messages and ALL of my messages are gone. my inbox is completely empty anyone have this issue before? anyway to get them back? ive already rebooted my phone
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to know if anyone is experiencing the same issue and if they have any fixes. I lost all of my text messages three times since getting the phone last Wednesday. The first time, someone was trying to send me an MMS. It didn't go through, and caused a Force Close (for which you have no choice but to select OK). After the error, all my previous text messages were gone. I immediately installed SMS Backup and SMS Backup and Restore. I like that SMS Backup is almost instantaneous back-up (to your Google account), but you cannot restore the messages to the phone. SMS Backup and Restore will back up your messages to your SDcard and restore, but it only runs at a pre-selected time (unless you manually sync before the selected time). Twice after the first error, I've been in the middle of texting and received the Force Close due to "Message Download Failure"; and after both times I lost all messages again. I was able to restore the older messages, but not the ones sent and received after the backup schedule. The only thing I've done is used SWYPE instead of the stock keyboard. But this seems like a network error.

I realize that Handcent does this, but I am not the biggest fan of this on the Incredible, I really did enjoy it on the Droid though. On the topic of Handcent's blacklist, does this block text messages from people on the blacklist or does it just hide them?

3. When I go to "People" I see all my contacts, and there pictures are their Facebook pictures. However, if someone updates their profile picture on Facebook, it does not show their new picture. How does this get refreshed? I went to synch and made sure Facebook was synched, still have this problem.

Just out of no where. Can receive messages but every one I try to send a red exclamation point.t pops up. I try resending with no luck. Calling is normal and internet works great. I've looked thru all the settings and restarted the phone with no luck. I'm not the primary account holder so I have to wait for someone to call Verizon for me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've searched this out a bit and only found a rough answer on the old Hero forum, so wanted to make sure there isn't a more updated answer with the Incredible.I'm using the stock messaging app included with the phone. I noticed very quickly that any text messages that were sent to me while the phone was off or in airplane mode obviously wouldn't come through to the phone until I turned it back on or took it out of airplane mode. This is normal, but I realized the text messages that come through once I power on the phone show only the time I received them at, not the ACTUAL time the person sent it out to me.On all my old phones I could see when the person actually sent the messsage. Is there a way to get this information on the Incredible, or do I need to download a different text app to view this?

I know how to transfer most of my stuff from one to the other (google sync, paid apps should be in the new market, save pics and docs to SD card, etc.), but is there a way to transfer my texts? I've been using Handcent, if that makes a difference.
