View 3 RepliesSince my Nexus 7 updated to 4.4 I have noticed that whatever I am watching on Netflix (for example) instead of creating a small square on the lockscreen with play/pause (like in 4.3) now fills the entire screen, looks distorted and the play/pause does not always display properly.

View 5 Replies View RelatedEvery time I flash a new ROM on my phone, whether it was my old Galaxy S2 or my current Galaxy S4, Google Play recognizes that it is the same device as before and installs all the apps I previously installed on the phone.
My android stick computer (Minix Neo X5) does not behave this way. Every time I flash a new ROM, regardless of whether it is an official ROM from the developer (Minix) or a custom ROM with CWM, Google Play does not recognize that it is the same device as before and I have to go through the arduous process of installing all previous apps.
Is there a file or folder that I could backup on my stick computer and restore after flashing that will let Google Play recognize it properly? build.prop?
I'm on the Nexu5 and was wondering whether or not the permissions manager was reachable through Kit Kat? I've tried the usual permission manager / App Ops stuff from the Play Store and nothing seems to work. Is there a way to access it or did they take it back away with Kit Kat?

View 5 Replies View RelatedAs you may have heard Android Device Manager has rolled out to 2.2 and above. To activate it, go to settings and then tap Device Administrators. There should be an option to activate Android Device Manager.
To track it and wipe the data follow the directions: Go to [URL]... log in and then click the settings gear under your account info. There should be an option for Android Device Manager.
Be sure to read this too. Android Device Manager rolling out
I'm writing an android application that depends on network activity and the alarm manager sometimes waking the phone up from a sleeping state. My question is how can I reliably test this on device? Ideally, how can I force the phone into a full-on sleeping state. Failing that, how can I know for sure when the phone has fully gone to sleep? How do you test your Alarm Manager / Wake Lock / Sleep handling code?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have several Android devices, all using the same Google Account.
I have recently purchased a new Android phone, however when I set it up, I don't want it to download and install all the apps that are associated with my Google account (like it did automatically on my tablet).
I'd like to be more selective, and control which apps install on my phone.
I'd like the current apps installed on my tablet (and old phone) to remain as they are, and still automatically update.
How can I do this?
getting Device Manager working on my new Galaxy S5. If I recall, Device Manager looks at GPS position first. If that is turned off, it rolls to WiFi. If that is off, it rolls to Cell communications. It worked well on my old Galaxy S2, even when GPS was off, it still found the phone within a certain range.
With my Galaxy S5, it doesn't seem to work when GPS is turned of. WiFi or Cell signal will not allow device manager to find the phone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to install Cyanogenmod and root my Nexus 7 2013, but I don't know what I should do to backup.
I previously tried to root and install CM on my Motorola Atrix HD on AT&T and successfully rooted it, unlocked the bootloader, and installed Clockwork Mod. I made sure to click backup and proceeded to delete the version of Android on the device and install Cyanogenmod. Cyanogenmod did not successfully install and I wanted to restore my device back to it the backup I made. It said that it did it successfully, but the device gets stuck on the AT&T logo when booting up and doesn't go past that.
I don't want to have to go through the same trouble with my Nexus 7 not being able to restore back to a backup in case something goes wrong. I'm using the Nexus Root Toolkit on my PC and will probably use the Cyanogenmod installer for installing CM11 (if there are any drawbacks to using the installer). What should I use to backup my device and how would I restore it back to stock if something goes wrong? And if I have a bricked device, how can I flash it back to stock?
Is there anyway on kitkat 4.4.2 to root the phone without opening the bootloader or setting my device on USM (USB Mass STorage)?

I was trying to get calkulins DE03 on my moment tonight, and since I've put dd03/dd10 on, I thought it would be easy but I obviously messed up something. i have the new 2.1 rom flasher, i have joeykrims 2.1.3, those dont seem to be the issue. the issue is now when I place the phone in download mode, I no longer get a data connection. I just get something called m900 under the Other Device category in Device Manager. i have no idea what driver I need to make this happen, and I certainly dont remember this from flashing it the previous two time. I tried to install the drivers from the Technica YT video, but that didnt seem to solve anything. when the phone is in Normal Mode, I can mount and do all sorts of things via USB, so clearly, this is a Download Mode driver issue.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a European GNex (4.3) that is not tied to a carrier. I also have a Nexus 10 on 4.3. On both devices, I have activated "Allow remote lock and factory reset" in the Google Settings app. However, while I have all functionalities shown as activated on the ADM web interface for the Nexus 10, my GNex is "stuck" with only the "Ring" function active. I have unchecked and rechecked "Allow remote lock and factory reset" and refreshed the web page, deleted the data from the Google Play Services app and rebooted, tried combinations of all of these, all to no avail. The ADM web interface continues to show only the "Ring" function for my GNex, with "Lock" and "Erase" greyed out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried with zero success to get a USB debug connection from a WinXP dev box to a brand X Android 1.6 tablet. I believe I had everything configured correctly on the Android and installed correctly on the dev box, but when the two are connected with a USB cable NOTHING HAPPENS; i.e. Windows finds no new hardware much less a new USB device; therefore, I cannot then install the Android SDK USB drivers on Windows and do the debug thing with Eclipse.
Either the mfg of the Android tablet device has disabled USB debugging and just didn't remove the UI that appears to enable it -- or I've left out some crucial step(s). (The device manual is 100% Chinese and I'm 0% Chinese, so it's no help. The tablet is very nearly, but not, the model A84 7" touch screen 'laptop' at 'www.lezestar.com' in case this helps.)
On the tablet:
- 'Settings/Application/Development/USB Debugging' is enabled.
- Tried 'Settings/Application/Development/Allow mock locations' enabled and not.
- Has 500MB internal flash 'hard disk'
- Has installed 2G SD card
- Firmware: 1.6
- Kernel: 2.6.29-002360g4f8dbbb-dirty
- Build No: 1.7.3
On Dev box:
- Windows XP SP3
- Device Manager finds no 'new hardware' when XP<-->Android USB cable is connected.
- Neither USBDeview.exe (Nirsoft) nor USBView.exe (Microsoft) find any evidence of connection with the Android
- Eclipse Galileo (3.5.2) with Android SDK (for 1.6) and ADV Manager.
- USB Driver package, rev 3. downloaded using ADV Manager.
Other:
- USB ports on both Tablet and dev box successfully connect a USB mouse.
- Tablet and Windows XP have been rebooted often.
Is permanently disabling debugging something that Android manufacturors are allowed to do and therefore I'm trying something that can't be done?
If the mfg has 'disabled' debugging, is there a way to work around this; e.g. download a tool that can change Android OS configuration to reenable it?
