Nov 18, 2010An app or mod that will use the microphone to sense the amount of noise around you and adjust the notifications accordingly - that is to say when its quiet, next to my bed and I am sleeping I want it to be all quiet sounds - but when I am working and there is fan noises and other stuff that is louder then normal I want the notifications to be loud - but if I walk into the break room which is quiet I want it to be quiet again - or if I am listening to music in a room or car turn up the notifications so I can here them and back down when not. You know take a sound reading and turn up or down the volume of the notification that is happening at that given time.
Only problem being when its in your pocket it will always seem to be quieter then normal so they will be quiet also, so there would need to be something to listen to the sound and determine if its being muffled by a pocket or whatever and turn it up then - if playing a sound and analysing that sound it should be able to determine what environment the phone is in, like a pocket or bag that will make it quieter. I am not even sure if i am describing this properly but I know someone can probably figure it out, but it might have to be something the manufacturer does, like that phone that has 2 microphones to auto cancel out background noises like a bluetooth headset.

Sep 7, 2010I want to set my phone to ring only. I don't want any other notifications (text, email, etc.) to make any noise or vibrate. No matter what I do, when I set the Ringer Volume the Notification Volume gets set to the same value.

Jul 10, 2010Before I destroyed my EVO, I had an app that would allow me to set several volume controls (separate ones for incoming calls, notifications, media, etc), brightness, even the 4G, wifi, and more. It mostly used multiple sliders that went from left (quiet) to right (louder). I did a search here, but none of the returns rang a bell (pun intended). Can you suggest a few of them that meet this description? Maybe one of them is the one I was using. For those of you who are curious, I accidentally drove over my first EVO. Not pretty. Nov 11, 2009One thing I do like about the iphone/ipod touch is that you set the home button to double tap and have that bring up the music controls. really basic, just brings up pause/play, forward, and back...and volume. I really miss that since I'm trying to use my Droid as my main music player now, but I hate that I have to click a widget or go to notifications to change the music. Especially when I'm driving, its would be so much easier if the controls popped up above the lock screen so i don't have to unlock every time. Any thoughts?

Sep 13, 2010At the moment the LEDs that light up the keyboard of the G1 (HTC Dream) are very quick to turn off, I time it at six seconds. This is a pain when using the phone in the dark as you must press a button in order to turn the lights back on if you look away even for a very short time. Since my G1 is rooted I have access to the system files and when using adb to open a shell (adb shell) to the USB connected phone I can set the brightness file to a positive value using echo 1 > /sys/class/leds/keyboard-backlight/brightness. This keeps the keyboard on, until the screen is set to turn off (two minutes on my phone). When I attempt the same using a Terminal Emulator or writing a simple app which should execute the same it does nothing despite both having root access. Why is this?

The focus appears to be in the second edittext field (the second one gets the highlighted border), but if we try to enter any characters using the hardware keyboard the text appears in the first edittext control.

May 14, 2010I want to zoom text that is displayed at center of screen as per user choice. How can I achieve this ? Using pinch multitouch cannot be tested on emulator and I want something that I can test on Android emulator.
Can I use zoom in and out controls to control only text view for my layout ?Or Can I use webview to contain a text as webview has default zoom in out buttons ?
