General :: Favorite Contacts Disappearing When Syncing To Google Contacts?
Oct 16, 2012My wife's phone - which is a ZTE Blade running 2.2 - is losing it's favorites in the contacts manager each time it syncs to Google Contacts.
I looked up her Google Contacts [URL] and there is no "Starred in Android" group, as it should be. I think it should be automatically created when she fovorites a contac in her phone. But instead, it deletes the starring of the contacts in the phone each time it syncs.
General :: Imported Contacts Not Displaying
Dec 31, 2011I had to switch out samsung transform ultras recently so I exported all my contacts from my old phone to the sd card and when I got the new phone I synced with my google account and tons of contacts that weren't. On my old list were showing up I tried deleting over 100 people from all the social sites and google said it was too many so I just reset the phone to factory and set up a new gmail and turned off auto syncing. Then I imported my contacts from the SD card and while they are recognized when I dial the number manually or the contact calls me they are not showing up in my actual contact list.

Oct 28, 2010Right, here goes. I've got all the contacts I want in my contacts folder. Some of them are linked to their facebook accounts which I like. But when I tap phone, a load of people who I only chat to on Facebook are there despite not being in the contacts folder. So how do I edit what appears under "Phone" Is there away to get rid of all the contacts that Facebook imported in one go? Or a way to edit my phone directory online? I didn't know that when I set up my Facebook account it would import anyone who has a number to my Phonebook!

Aug 2, 2010I saved my contacts from my old handset (LG) to the SIM card. I put the SIM into my Milestone and went to contacts, went to import/export and chose Import from SIM. It showed all of my SIM contacts, and I chose Import All. At this point, a dialogue box with a progress bar comes up as it imports all of my contacts. However, when it's finished, they don't appear in my contacts list. It's set to display contacts with numbers. I bluetoothed the .vcf file from my old handset to my MacBook and then from there to the Milestone, and chose Import from SD Card, but I just get the same result. my contacts seem to appear when I type the name into the recipient box while texting but still not in the contacts list, meaning I can't call them and come to think of it, receiving texts from people who should be on my contacts, their name shows up.

Apr 15, 2012Saved all my contacts through import option on droid phone to the sd card.. Moved the vcf file to the pc.. Did a fresh install on my LG Optimus s phone.. and now cant import any contacts.. Its not displaying in contacts.. But if i go to text someone.. I type the first 3 letters and the full name and number displays. Just not in the contacts.. I accidentally upgraded my rooted froyo phone to gingerbread and hated I did it. got to wait til i can root it again. SO now im back to basic.. Does hard reset even revert to stock flash? Or you have to get technical in doing it?

Jun 15, 2010Over the last couple of weeks, I've had some problems with Facebook for HTC (between contacts and FriendStream). Through performing some fixes, I've had to remove my Facebook account from the phone, and set it up again twice. Well tonight, after removing the account, I could not get ANY of my contacts to show up at all. This includes my regular Google contacts (not just the ones synced with FB. It looked like the phone was trying to sync and never loading when I opened the people app.Well, this went on for about an hour with no luck, even with rebooting several times. I finally decided to setup my Facebook account again. Sure enough, once I setup the FB account, all of my contacts showed up fine with no syncing issue. The problem is, now when I go into a contact that has no FB contact link, press the "link" icon on the top right, select Facebook, it lists multiples of ALL of my Facebook friends. Almost as if each time I setup my Facebook account again, it just re-imported all of my FB friends without replacing them.How can I delete these duplicates, or even all of my Facebook contacts / friends from my phone, and re-import them? Anyone else have this issue? It seems that removing my Facebook account from my phone not only causes problems with all of my regular Google contacts, but also doesn't delete the Facebook friends left behind on the phone.

Mar 3, 2010This morning when i woke up..all my contacts were gone for whatever reason..i thought to myself sigh no buggy..ill just re-sync my FB contacts and import my other #s from my old sim card..the FB contacts worked but when i try to import the #s from my Sim card it says "successfully imported" but the Contacts don't show up!! Mind u Ive done this several times before and its worked. Idk why they're not showing up now.

Jul 28, 2010I own a Droid, and consider myself fairly savvy in the Android world, however my wife recently got the Ally and is having a problem editing her contacts. So when she initiqally booted up the phone it walked her through logging into google and facebook, etc, and it imported all those contacts into the phone, however, she wants to add in their phone numbers now, but its not letting her. We click on the menu button, click eedit contact, but then there is no way to edit or add phone numbers.

May 8, 2010I rooted my phone to the latest ROM using the script in the stickied thread. My google contacts re-synced when the phone started, and all was fine. I then proceeded to make a few edits to my contacts. That's when I noticed that they were disappearing from my "people" list. I can still pull them up by typing the name on the dialer screen, and I can still send email to them, but they just don't show up on the list. This also happens with newly-created contacts. I've tried forcing a manual sync, rbooting, editing the contacts through gmail on my computer, and nothing has worked.

May 17, 2010I spent a fair while setting up my screens and finally got to putting in my contacts last nite. I entered my contacts manually one by one on the phone itself using the add contact on the people menu. This was all fine until i checked my phone this morning. All of the people I added to the contacts whose birthday i also added to there contact details have disappeared. It is only the people who i entered there birthday though, in otherwords all the important people. Have i done something daft (quite possible) or is this a glitch?

Jul 28, 2012I've got an HTC Desire HD that's been rooted and have tried out several ROMs, the last couple have been ICS. I would like to stay with an ICS ROM but there seems to be an issue with contacts. I sync my contacts (and calendar) with Outlook via MyPhoneExplorer, Google isn't in the running here. On GB all is fine and both contacts and calendar go into a 'phone' memory. With ICS this 'phone' memory has gone and you have to sync with your gmail account locally. With ICS the calendar is fine but if I reboot the phone (it gets switched off most nights) this causes all contacts to disappear. I usually use Contapps as my contacts app but the stock People app also shows the same behaviour. Tried all the settings I can think of, and SEARCHED the forums (and further afield) so far, but still the same.
In all cases I've set up my Google account but then turned off ALL synchronisation, as I want to keep things local to my phone and PC. The calendar works fine, it's just contacts. I've checked with my gmail account online and it does NOT have copies of my contacts or calendar so it would appear that 'not syncing' is not the issue as my phone's calendar keeps it's data intact.
Also, call history doesn't seem to get deleted either but you obviously just get the phone number in each entry, with no contact details.Using the stock People app to check (though other contact apps show the same lack of contacts!). I've tried 3 different ICS ROMs and at least two have shown the problem (the 3rd may have done but that was the first I installed and may not have checked). I've seen other comments both on xda and the wider interweb that indicate that I'm not the first to see this but there doesn't seem to be a consensus on the solution, if any. how Google changed contacts operations in ICS?
Oh, I know that I "could" sync with Google, but I don't want to. I know all the arguments for and against and I'm in the "against" camp on this one so comments along the 'just sync with Google' line aren't that useful. No disrespect to those that think differently ...

They'll stay for a day or two, then the contact will just disappear (not in phone or Gmail online). I've tried re-saving numerous times, same result. Aug 23, 2010So yesterday I flashed XTRSense4.0.6.1 to both mine and my wife's Eris. My phone has been running great with no problems whatsoever. This afternoon my wife calls me freaking out because her contacts have disappeared... all of them. She said they were all there this morning and all of a sudden they're just gone. I told her to go to Settings, Accounts/Sync, and to Sync Google but that didn't help. She rebooted her phone, synced again and still nothing. Finally I walked her through the process of rebooting into recovery mode, wiping cache, doing a factory reset, and finally a NAND restore which got her back to pre-XTRSense and all her contacts came back without issue. What could have caused this issue and what can I do to prevent future occurrences? I'd really like to flash XTRSense back to her phone because it seemed to fix her other issues but not if its going to cause more problems than it fixes.

May 13, 2012I used to use two Gmail accounts and had both sync the information, with exception to one's contact list since it was empty. However, I've noticed that my contacts, after awhile, disappear from my phone.
At first, they had disappeared from my Google Contacts as well, but a simple restore fixed that and now they are still there (this was around the time Google started to move info to Google+). Now, the contacts disappear from my phone, leaving me with it saying "No contacts", until I reboot my phone again (where it all loads back in again).
I use WhatsApp, ChatOn, Skype, Google+, and Facebook apps.

The result now is that i have a huge list of contacts (GMail + SIM) with many duplicates and information spread around different entries.
