I just got my magic and want to transfer all contacts from my old phone(se w880) but its not working so far. On w880 the only option is 'send all contacts via bluetooth however when i tried it can't find magic. Is there any other way to do it?

Only way to transfer all my contacts that I could figure out was to transfer all my contacts to my MS Outlook, and then from there take all the contacts to my HTC Magic. Everything went perfect, but now the trouble began. Any new contact that I add to the phone gets added to the bottom of my contacts list. The contacts are supposed to be in alphabetical order, but the contacts i got from Outlook always stay on top, and then the new contacts I add are being added to the bottom of my contacts list. I have downloaded 'bluetooth file transfer' and find it a little complicated for easy transfers of pictures, music etc. I can send items but nobody seems to be able to find me to send me anything (phone is set to discoverable). I think it is great app just a little too much for what I want to do!

I've had my Magic for about 3 months now and I do like it a lot, but I want to back up my list of telephone contacts to the sim card so that in the event of a change of handset in the future, my contacts are safe and can be restored to another phone.I can import from the Sim card ok, but how do I do this in reverse? I don't want to sync with Google, I want a copy of my contacts safe elsewhere. Is this possible?

Been loving my Magic and appreciate the help to date. One issue I haven't been able to resolve is that when we imported my contacts, they have come in last name 1st, rather then the other way which is a PITA when you had contacts saved as #### work etc.

But i have a problem: I imported the contacts from GMail and from the SIM card. Nearby all of my contacts are now two times in the phone, once tagged Google and once tagged Phone...
How can i merge this contacts? I also saw that my GMail Contacts has a group called 'Starred in Android' but it is empty... I also starred some numbers in my Magic, but only Phone-contacts.
Is there an application which could help me to do that or can i upload my Phone-contacts to GMail so that i could use the contacts manager of GMail?
In our company we are using Google Apps and I have a none branded Magic (delivered by 3 in Denmark) with Android 1.5 and a ROM with build number 2.16.401.5.In the phone's Calendar app I can create entries that will sync perfectly with any of my online Google Calendars but I can't create a new contact that will sync to my Gmail Contacts. On the phone there is only one Contact source (Phone) available.

Does anyone know whether it is possible to push contacts from my HTC Magic to my Camry over bluetooth? I cannot find a way on the phone to beam or send or push contacts and the car requires the transfer to begin from the phone. I have sucessfully paired my phone and the car. I am suspecting that the present bluetooth stack for the Magic does not include the profile necessary to beam contacts, but would appreciate any insight from anyone. View 3 Replies View RelatedI just switched from a Nokia N95 to an HTC Desire on Android 2.1 (Froyo isn't out in the Middle East yet I guess). I'm having a lot of trouble getting my contacts on to the Desire. On setting up the phone, it has pulled my contacts from Gmail & Facebook, which I don't really need. I will not be calling or mailing most of the people on that list. There are a 1000+ contacts on those lists and I don't need all of them on my contact list. I tried to use the Nokia Ovi Suite to sync contacts, but for some reason I was not able to transfer them onto the PC. So I copied them all onto the SIM card and then put the SIM into the Desire and exported them to the phone memory.
The problem is that on copying them onto the SIM on the N95, I have multiple entries on the list. For contacts with more than 1 number under them, there are separate entries for each number, with the same name. Is there a method to group them the same way they were earlier i.e. One contact entry with a Home, Mobile, & Business number? Do let me know. It will hugely helpful. The only other way I can think of is to sit and enter all the numbers manually!

I can make and receive calls via hands-free car kit but only part of my phone book contacts transferred to the car (only contacts from A to N in my case) When I deleted on the phone all contacts from letter N, contacts from letter M appeared on the car display. I called T-Mobile and Samsung - no help. Support from Samsung told me to find at android market Bluetooth Profile for Phone book Access but I can't find it. If anybody have the same problem or have a knowledge how to fix it.

This sim seems blocked on t-moble HTC desire phone as i tried to insert into HTC desire and there is no network and menu to access the phone (say contact customer service), phone gets locked. 2nd way was via bluetooth transfer to PC.
