Does anyone know how to make the phone display the callers name and not their number for incoming calls? Right now when the phone rings it displays the phone number and I would like it to display their name. These are callers I have in my contacts so it knows thier name but i can't find any option to make it display name and not number

Initially, I thought I just needed to change my Outlook settings so it would leave a copy of messages on the server, which I did. But still, only around half my emails actually come to my phone.Has anyone else had this problem?

I have had several people call me and I let it go to Voicemail and then they later tell me that the voicemail wouldn't work for them. They say they don't get my message and instead get some form of automated message that cuts out about halfway through and then ends the call.

Also, all my contacts are phone contacts, not gmail contacts, will HTC sync application help me backup my contacts and restore them? I haven't replaced an HTC phone yet so please forgive my innocence. I'm a converted BB user and now never going back to anything but Droid. Also, will i be receiving LCD screen instead AMOLED screen? Is that the rumor ?I do have insurance, i'm sure it will cost me more than 50 bucks to replace it. Prob 100$ right?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI keep my phone on vibrate most of the time and I've found that when I'm on the phone talking to someone and I get a new email, the phone vibrates so I can hear it, which is great. But the caller on the other end hears it too and they always end up saying 'WTF was that noise'? How to turn this off so callers don't hear the vibrate mode too?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI am having an intermittent problem where callers can't hear me for 6-10 seconds when they call. This is a t best embarrassing and frequently they hang up. As I say the problem is intermittent - sometimes the phone answers as usual. Interestingly, I can hear them talking (and usually saying 'hello? hello?) but they can't hear me and I just keep saying hello until they hang up or until the sound kicks in and we can converse.
I did a factory reset with no improvement, and have also downloaded the PC updater and updated the system with no improvement. Then, I spoke to a friend the other night who described an identical problem with his X10.

View 23 Replies View RelatedI was testing my phone and found that if i JUST set it to sleep it will notify me of new emails. But i waited until it was asleep for over 25 min and i sent 2 emails from 2 different email accounts and neither one showed up on my phone until i unlocked it and hit airplane mode and then unchecked airplane mode. i have the mobile data set to always on. I do have only 1 bar at -99 signal strength. but if i turn on and off airplane mode the emails come right in after a prolonged sleep.

Wildest and saddest thing ever just happened to my incredible. I'm in Virginia for a wedding where the air is around 100 degrees. I had been carrying my phone in my hand all day as I normally do and went into the air conditioned church, which was around 65. I went to take a picture with my phone and the screen shattered where I was holding it in the corner and spiderwebbed across the phone. The screen and touch still works, i just have a difficult time reading through the cracks. This is the saddest thing ever because I literally baby my phones and have never lost or broken a phone in the 12 years I've had a cell phone. I'm going to go into Verizon and see what can be done since I have insurance... im just scared of this insurance company since ive heard so many terrible things about it. It's also annoying because i had been planning on taking it in anyways because it will not read my microsd card and hasnt for the past two weeks. Just be careful of temperature changes. I know some people won't believe this story but i guess it was one of those fluke things that with my awesome luck had to happen. It's just so annoying that they put glass in a phone that can't even resist changes of fourty degrees. I'm definitely regretting not getting a phone with gorilla class. Has this happened to anyone else?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had my phone charging at my desk when I suddenly noticed a high pitched whine/chirping coming from somewhere. I was quickly able to pinpoint it -- it's my charger.
I did a Google search and it seems to be a fairly common issue with AC wall chargers.
I'm just curious, is this something I should be concerned about? While it's annoying, I can certainly put up with it until I can have Verizon replace it but I don't want to have to stress about some electrical surge nuking my phone.
Oh, just now the charging finished and as soon as it did (mind you it's still plugged in) the noise ceased.
I put some MP3s on my Inc and the audio player plays them fine and they're pretty loud coming out of the speaker.
Now, I took one of those MP3s and set it as my ring tone. I turned the ringtone volume all the way up and when I got a call, it's like half the volume as it played as an MP3.
Why do I lose so much volume? Is there any way to make that louder?
I have deleted a lot of my apps deleted mail (and it keeps coming back after being deleted.) This phone is a joke. I should of known better. the other 2 HTC's were pieces of CRAP!

In the dark you can see light coming out of my phone on the bottom underneath my search & home buttons. Nothing major but its there enough I noticed it while in bed. So my question. What do I do now ? Advice ? I am 18 years old and just signed my 2 year contract with Sprint. Thank god I didn't have to put a deposit down. But what should I do ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just flashed UD v8 last night and got into the LED hack and adjusted my settings so that when I dock it all LEDs turn off. Cool and the gang. Except now when I get an email or text message I don't get the blue or green flashing LED in the top right like normal. I actually love this cuz I can tell if I have an email/sms without powering up out of sleep mode. Granted, that isn't that big a deal, but I like my damn LED.
Anyone experiencing this or have any ideas on a fix?
I keep killing the sprint navigation app but it keeps re-appearing on app killer. Anyone know why and what I can do to stop it?

I keep dropping calls -- The back light comes on randomly and then my chin hits the end call button or other keys and I lose the call. I have had no success figuring out how to disable the backscreen from coming on during a call or if there is another solution that would work. I do not want to return the phone. Can anyone think of a solution?

I trying to help a friend with her email on her droid she currently has a (smtp) email set up on her phone. The problem is all old emails are continuously coming back to the device! she has deleted them both from the phone also from a regular pc and they come back still....I looked into the app called (k9) however it doesn't look like it supports smtp only Imap and pop3.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have had my sprint HTC Hero for some months now and love all the neat apps I can load. BUT... the actual telephone app seems dysfunctional. I imagine the telephone function is built in and probably cannot be fixed by the average developer and maybe this is also a function of the carrier (sprint in this case).
PROBLEM:
When I have multiple calls my Hero interface provides no easy mechanism to hang up on one caller only. It has just one "End call" virtual button and pressing this drops the entire call interface.
So for example if I accept a call waiting then the prior caller is placed on hold while I talk to the interrupting caller. When I am done talking to the interrupting caller I have only the option to "End call". Pressing this will drop the entire call interface. What happens next depends ...
IF I have hung up on the interrupting caller before they hang up on me then I will still have someone on hold (but nothing shows this). Some seconds later (like 5) the system realizes I still have someone on hold and rings as if a new call. Clunky but at least it works.
IF the interrupting caller manages to hang up before my "End call" registers then the phone ends the only remaining active call which is of course the person on hold. No indication of this either except I wait 5 seconds and realize my phone is not ringing. The lag time on the HTC hero is so large that this happens just about half the time.
IF I don't hang up at all but instead just wait for the interrupting caller to hang up then the phone will put up a new screen that shows that the person who just hung up is still active, the person on hold is on hold, but in fact I will be connected to the person listed as "on hold". So the interface is wrong but at least I have not hung up on the holding caller. In this case it is very unclear if my call waiting slot is free or not. I have had people unable to call when I thought the phone was connected to just one person. Effectively the call waiting slot seems already occupied when in fact it is not. Don't know if this consumes double minutes or not.
To me this seems like an event driven system without a properly deterministic event handler. Or perhaps there is really no way for the phone's understanding of call waiting to by synchronized with the carrier's.
Almost done ranting...
Lastly, while making a call the screen seems to stay active for its full timeout period so that my cheek can sometimes press a virtual button and end the call. I would love it if I could press a button to de-activate the screen sooner but unfortunately that button also terminates the call. Wasn't there supposed to be some mechanism that detects that the phone is cheek bound and deactivates the screen? Could use a manual way do force this.
