I trying to help a friend with her email on her droid she currently has a (smtp) email set up on her phone. The problem is all old emails are continuously coming back to the device! she has deleted them both from the phone also from a regular pc and they come back still....I looked into the app called (k9) however it doesn't look like it supports smtp only Imap and pop3.

My screen keeps coming on while the phone is locked then it will go off and come back on like 2-5 sec later just an endless cycle. This is a factory 2.2 droid x with 2.2. Have launcher pro and some stuff on it did a virus scan with AVG said it was clean what gives here?

What is happening is I keep getting the emails over and over no matter how many times I delete them. I dont understand what I am doing wrong. It works but I delete the emails and they come again and again. I had to delete the account to stop the endless loop.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy DroidX has several pieces of bloatware from Verizon or Motorola. I don't mind giving up a little Ram space for them, but many are running all of the time. After you kill them they come back to life. Why does Music, Maps, SkypeMobile, CityId etc. need to run when I haven't even started them? I "assume" that they are just waiting until the end of a time period (an hour I hope rather than a second) to check if the need to "call home". If they are doing much they are eating battery time which isn't as good as I would like. I realize that I would have to root my Droid to remove the apps. Is there an easier ways to keep them from running?

View 14 Replies View RelatedFirst off let me say that I was wrong about this issue. Its not an issue with Easy root it is just something built into android. So I apologize to anyone I argued this subject with but specifically Patch. Its also not an issue with rom manager. This applys to users that after flashing a custom recovery they can boot into it once but the next time you try to boot into recovery it has reverted to stock.
This mostly happens to users of easy root or users that use my guide for rooting using Linux
So for the fix.
Download this file and place it in the root of your sd card.

Download Terminal Emulator from the market. The one by the dev Jack Palevich.
Open it and type the following commands.
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
dd if=/sdcard/install-recovery.sh of=/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
chmod 550 /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
sync
after that just flash the custom recovery of your choice and you should be good to go.
I tested this on my phone and another user tested it for me and it worked for both of us. If anyone has an issue let me know. This issue is so sporadic that its hard to have people test the fix.
When I receive an email on my desire as soon as I receive it on my laptop it disappears from the phone. By internet is my isp and I am on Orange with my phone. Can anyone tell me how to stop them being removed from the phone.

Also on my storm I had the option to delete the mail only on the handheld or handheld and server. That was great for stuff I needed to address later.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just flashed UD v8 last night and got into the LED hack and adjusted my settings so that when I dock it all LEDs turn off. Cool and the gang. Except now when I get an email or text message I don't get the blue or green flashing LED in the top right like normal. I actually love this cuz I can tell if I have an email/sms without powering up out of sleep mode. Granted, that isn't that big a deal, but I like my damn LED.
Anyone experiencing this or have any ideas on a fix?
When I got my new Eris, the Verizon guy offered to swap my contacts from my old phone to the new one (as usual). He did so. After getting home, I noticed he'd also downloaded all the accumulated contacts 9 mostly crap) from my Google Mail account as well. I went and deleted them all but now I keep getting a notification saying that I deleted TOO MANY? It then gives me three choices, one of which is delete them. The notification keeps coming back.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I had my Voyager, I could use my bluetooth earpiece to talk on the phone, and also get the audio from the Navigation to come through the earpiece. I was surprised tonight that when I was using my GPS on the Droid it didn't come through my earpiece which resulted in me turning my radio down significantly so I could hear the phone.
I also have a stereo bluetooth headphones that I already paired and see the icon on the screen, but when I play a video or some music, it doesn't come through the headphones. Its still coming out of the Droid's phone speakers. Its showing that it is connected in my notifications bar too.
Some how cities that I have never added show up on the weather widget. New York and Detroit come up often.
I delete them and they keep coming back.
Does anyone know if there is a way to look at my emails in gmail on my droid but when I go on my PC i still want to see those emails I already looked at as unread.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know the update hasn't officially been rolled out but does anybody have any early knowledge of whether or not this update will correct the issue of emails sent from the droid from yahoo sending multiple copies and copying them into your sent folder? I know there's a setting to disable this feature under normal circumstances but i like having my sent copies saved and was hoping that this update will correct this issue.

I have tried adding the code to Activity.onUserInteraction to no avail. It seems the keyboard appears after the onUserInteraction executes.

I've had my Samsung Captivate for about 4 days now, and today when i plugged it in mid-day to charge (om nom nom battery life) it started emitting random, extremely obnoxious high-pitched beeps about 2 times per minute. It does it whether or not it's on A/C power, it even does it when the phone's powered off but the battery's in there, I just don't understand why or how to stop it.
Phone is awesome otherwise! Anyone having this issue/ know where it's coming from?
About two hours ago, I noticed my Droid was hot in its case. I took it out and noticed that it was constantly rebooting on about a two minute cycle. Tried to boot it up in safe mode (successfully) but it still rebooted. I managed to keep it running long enough to uninstall an app I had loaded today, but still no luck. Constant reboot. Any help before I call VZW support?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've had the Moto Droid for three days now and it reboots itself or freezes frequently. It does this at least 10 times a day.
First thought: apps conflicting, right? But this was happening with no apps on it at all. It happens in the music player, home screen, and just about anywhere. There is no pattern to it.
My final assumption is that this is a problem with Android 2.0 and patches and updates will be coming to minimize these freeze ups and reboots, but wanted to pop in an ask the community if they've been seeing the same thing, or if they have any tips/tricks to stop these.
This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
I have already done a factory reset once before because the phones ringer stopped working. The "FVE" said it was something I downloaded from the market and basically made me reset. It really is not a big deal to do a reset since all the contacts can get synced to your google account. I just don't want to have to keep doing this fix.

View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently my Desire has started doing something odd.I put it in standby mode (i.e locked screen,screen dark etc - by pressing the power button once) and around 50% of the time when I press the power button once again to wake it up,the four buttons at below the screen light up,but the screen takes up to 5-10 seconds to come on!Has anyone else ever had this sort of thing happen?It's really intermittent and slightly concerning.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do you stop the phone from checking for and applying OTA updates? I had rooted mine, and I pulled it out of my pocket tonight to find that it had updated itself. I haven't check what effect that has had on my root yet, but I expect that it will cause problems now or in the future.
On the EVO, there's a menu option to stop the update checker, but I didn't see that on the X.
