I have handcent on my phone and whenever I get a text, the handcent and stock icons show up in the taskbar. How do I stop the default notification from showing up and just have the handcent one?

I wasn't sure where to put this but does anyone know how to stop my phone making double alerts when I get a text? Because when I get a new text, Hand cent will post an icon in the notification panel and there will always be another notification icon next to it, I think it is the stock app doing that. Now I have set Hand cent as my default messaging app and I am running the 2.1 v3 leak.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I recently rooted my phone to 2.1. Great btw! but that is not the point. When I get a text message, I get a series of notifications. I get one from the stock phone's stock txt msg app, and one from the phone, which link to the stock app. Plus, if i download handsent, thats 3 notifications per text! So I take the stock txt msg app notifications off and everything so that one does not notify me anymore. But I still get a notification from my phone, not the stock txt app. I dont even know what app or program is notifying me of a text!!. The icon on the notification bar is a postcard (similar to the stock txt app). When I pull down the notification bar menu, the icon is an opened envelope. When I click it to check, it directs me to the stick txt app. It is weird and annoying. I just want my handsent app to notify me. How can I go about doing that? Any help would be great. There was some talk about this, but no resolution. Anyone else have this problem?

Buzz again and Droid! Again. So I think I got two texts when I have one. I don't have handecent or anything. I'm geting a lot of bugs ones I wasn't expecting and its testing me on if I want to keep the phone. Right now its a love and hate thing

So out of the blue today my hand cent starts getting 2 messages each time i get a text message. Even displays both of them in the bubbles. I've made sure hand cent is the default and of course I've disabled the stock message apps. But after I installed the new froyo update I have 2 txt msg stock apps. Messaging and Text Message. Anyone know what .apk to remove to get remove them and where those apks are... and the big thing... how to get the dang double messages to stop. It stinks because it makes me always have an icon on the notification bar saying I've got unanswered messages.

Whenever I receive a notification my phones both vibrates and makes the notification sound twice really fast. How can I change this to only have it do this once? It does it so fast that it cuts off the first one before the sound is finished. I don't have any special song or anything set as the notification just one of the standard ones on the phone.

After uninstalling, I am now receiving two SMS notifications when I receive a text. One a white envelope, another a green bubble with "SMS" written in it. I can't find a place where two are coming from...any ideas?

However I have been messing around with trying to delete/block programs that I don't need or want to see and I don't think I could have uninstalled the stock program because I'm still getting double notifications (one from stock and one from handcent), so I was going to go to the stock one and disable notifications.But I can't find it anywhere on my system whatsoever. Even when I get the notification pop-up it doesn't give me an option to open the whole program, just the notification and option to reply. So is there somewhere it could be hiding that I'm not looking? Or can I reinstall it, if so how?

Then, I uninstalled handcent from my phone thinking maybe I can reinstall it and it would stop notifying me twice; which didn't work. So now I just have the stock messaging app and it's still notifying me twice every time I get a single text message. Any thoughts? It's driving me insane.

Alright call me cheap, but I only have the $5 250 messages on my plan but it suits me just fine I never go over.Well i just got my bill and wouldnt you know I went over by almost double. Turns out more often then I thought I was sending blank texts and double texts. Before it was easy to highlight a typed word, double tap on the word, and then respell it or change the capitols. Now it´s very difficult to make that action happen and I find it easier just deleting the word and spell it again.
This is, for me anyway, less user-friendly than the 1.6 version! I´m hoping that this will be solved in future updates or if anyone of you experts out there have a solution. Changing to other programs as "handsent sms" is not a solution for me!
Anyone unless notice the LED blinking stops after a little while...My Wife's Moto Droid keeps blinking until you check the alert.

However, when I receive a notification while I'm doing something else, or heck even if I receive it while just looking at my phone, I want to be able to hit a button and make the noise stop!
