(Just flashed Fresh 2.1.1 over 2.0d and everything is working as it should now. Phone is noticeably faster after I screwed it up spending countless hours trying to get this to work. Thanks Flipz!)
I am running Fresh 2.0d and I have apps2sd working with an ext3 partition. (I know this because the phone basically dies if I unplug the SD card and because there is an app folder under /system/sd/app). I still have very low internal memory (about 23mb remaining). It seems that when I install an app, it installs on the SD card and on the phone's internal memory. What's going on! I have also tried rebooting and repartitioning the SD card.
Is there a way, to go from Apps2SD to NOT using Apps2SD without losing apps or app settings?
The process as I understand it is:
Make a Nandroid Backup (or do you need Nandroid+ext?)
copy SD contents to PC
Wipe phone, Wipe and repartition SD card w/ no ext
replace contents of SD card (while in Recovery you can mount the card, correct?)
flash ROM
Restore
The question I have is, will all the apps and settings be in the restore, or will I need to reinstall and set everything up again?
how to know whether apps2sd is working or not?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI've tried to get apps2sd working on my phone. In fact, I flashed my rom all over again to get it working, as I couldn't be bothered to manually uninstall everything on my phone.
I flashed the MoDaCo r5 rom (the most recent on, based on the 2.1 GSM build). I then went into the recovery menu. created the ext2 partition and upgraded it to an ext3 partiton, as per the instructions.
I've installed a load of applications, I see the phone memory has gone down to a fraction over 40mb remaining. So, I reboot the phone (as I'm aware that the apps transfer over to the memory card during the reboot), and when I turn it back on, the internal memory remains at a fraction over 40mb.
just installed navigon and its taken my internal memory down to 130mb from about 140mb. is there anyway i can check if apps 2 sd is working?

View 5 Replies View RelatedGood Morning all --- another question surfaced as I am considering partitioning of my SD card for use with Fresh 2.0d and using the benfits of Apps2SD.
Once up and running, does the Nandroid backup work on this configuration? Or must you keep your files in the Hero to get a functional backup? Now using the 1.6.2 version of RA.
I would certainly not want to sacrifice my ability to make periodic Nandriod backups of my phone.
So i partitioned my SD card per the instructions listed on Flipz site and it was working flawlessly! I couldn't believe it! Then I had to reboot, and that's when the Force Closes started and the phone started dragging like a dog. I'm using a Class 2 card, so that may explain the lag, but why the FCs?
I'm hoping I'm still able to use Apps2SD successfully and that a wipe/restore will fix this, because there just isn't a lot of internal memory to play with.
Fresh 2.1 is out now though, so I may just say screw it and start new. I just don't want to have to set the phone up again and reinstall apps.
I rooted my phone and have Damage 2.07.2 running, I am attempting to install Wireless Tether, however something seems off about my Superuser Permissions Application, upon Wireless Tether starting I have Superuser Permissions App come up but the screen on the App is blank, I wait a moment and then have to wait or force close. It seems as though none of the Apps that require root are working properly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Fresh 2.1.2 loaded on my Hero. When trying to launch MetaMorph it tells me to make sure i have enough space in /system. I have wiped and reinstalled the rom and have almost 90 mb free on the phone. I also can't get root explorer to work but am more interested in getting MetaMorph working. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know of anyway to fix this?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI switched to Sprint yesterday from ATT and bought a Hero along with my dad. They activated the phones for us and than told us that it should only be 30 minutes before our phones were on but could take up to 24 hours. its been about 15-16 hours and was wondering if it takes everyone this long?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am just playing around with my phone lately, trying to see what it can do. I have my MSL number (the guy at Best Buy gave it to me.) and I know it's correct because i put in ##123456# (##MSL#) and it went to the "Edit/View" options. When I try to edit, however, it asks me for a password, and I assumed it was my MSL, so i put in 123456 but it doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had the Sprint Hero since it was released and have weathered the common bugs (battery, apps losing their names/logos and not working after restarting the phone, etc) I have a new one now that I cant seem to fix. GPS was working fine in all my applications (google maps, Nav, Sherpa, Layar etc). I leave GPS on as it is only ever used when an app requires your location. Now with GPS on if I run google maps or any other application the little GPS icon shows up in the header but after 30 seconds or so the application says your location cannot be found. I have tried numerous time inside and out and nothing. I can turn on network location and get the cell tower triangulation of my location but thats not true GPS. I have not soft or hard reset but afraid im going to have to.....how does that work? Assuming hard i lose everything....do i keep my apps and home screens with a soft reset?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI was having a bunch of issues with crashes, lag, bluetooth, and 100% awake time. And now they're gone. The only thing is - I don't know why. And my past experience with the hero is that issues you think are dealt with, sneak back in when you least expect it. I was experiencing issues even after I wiped my phone, then installed the official Sprint Rom (replacing the leak). Then I hard shut the phone down and was going to hard reset it again. But first, I swapped batteries. Then did a hard reset. Does anyone know if taking the battery out could have had any effect at all? I don't want to start an old wives tale about the phone if there's really no technical reason this should have done anything.
Whatever the case, I've re-installed all the apps I was using before. I've run every single program I could to see if there were any that would crash - and so far nothing has. I had WiFi and mobile network turned out, my bluetooth connected and was using Google Maps without any problems. I have yet to experience the landscape keyboard lag that everyone else is talking about. The phone can still be a bit sluggish here and there - it seems especially when I have my bluetooth headset connected, the phone can take a couple of seconds to make a call when I push on an picture in the "people" widget. But honestly - that seems to be the only complaint I have and I've been pushing the phone really hard trying to replicate old problems or find new ones.
Ok, probably been talked about but it's very annoying. I have the 2.1 update and the firmware update that came a week ago. I like that they fixed the keyboard vibrate problem(where it would vibrate long once, and then every other vibration would be half the length) but the lag is still unbearable. How come the iPhone perfected the touch screen and when HTC made the Hero(years later), it comes out worse? I can't type as fast as on an iPhone, nor can I make calls fast enough. Why does it always take so long for the phone to go into "call mode"? Even though I have no programs running in the background it is slow as balls. I'll reset the phone and delete all my text messages. The keyboard is unresponsive for fast typers. I'll tap a button and it will lag and act as if I held it and puts a symbol instead. Anyone else suffer from this problem?

View 5 Replies View RelatedAlmost every day when I wake up I check my phone and 9 times out of 10 the touch screen does not work. I cannot make a call or check anything. I have to push a lot of buttons and take out the battery and generally wait a while before my expensive phone to start to work. Is there a fix for this? I've already had to go to sprit to do a hard reset because the phone got, "kicked off the network" for some reason the sprint people could not explain. Any solution for the screen issue?

How many apps do you have installed on your phone? Are you using a custom ROM, if so which one?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to remove pre-installed programs?
For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
