I've rooted my Incredible with Unrevoked 3 and I have successfully used Unrevoked Forever to set S=OFF.now, I am trying to update to Froyo, but I am confused as crap.Can I use the official OTA update and do it manually? Or do I need a different ROM to update manually with.I've searched here and there everywhere and I haven't gotten a firm answer or I can't find anything at all.

I did the manual upgrade to 2.2 Froyo last night and 2 applications have stopped working
-1) Ringo Lite is totally gone and will not install at all manually.
-2) Open Home is installed but cannot seem to make it stick as the default "home" application. Everytime I hit the Home button on my N1 it goes back to the 2.2 (froyo) default home screen.
I've done a couple searches but can't seem to get a straight answer.I have a rooted stock 2.1 on my Incredible.Works great and I've installed the wireless tether app.If I download the official upgrad.zip file and upgrade, will this work or brick my phone?I don't have clockwork or any other rom managers installed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my "dinc" in early August with 2.1 onboard and recieved the OTA froyo upgrade about two weeks ago. I like 2.2 (I think) but not all the battery-vampire crap-apps that came with it. I desparately want to root so that I can explore the full potential of this phone and hopefully find some options to extend my battery and get rid of the bloatware.
Unrevoked's website says v3.2 has been temporarily pulled and to use v2.2 "in the meantime". I've tried several of the methods that call for 3.2 using 2.2 and it seems to work up to the reboot step towards the end. Each time I get this "failed to flash recovery image" message. I've followed every detail of several videos and posts (including one from this forum) instructing how to root with Unrevoked, but the end result is always the same.
1. Can I use Unrevoked to root my phone with the froyo upgrade in place?
2. If so, how? Because what I've been trying ain't gettin' it done.
3. If not, is there a way to roll-back to 2.1 so that I can use Unrevoked?
4. Could the 2.2 version of Unrevoked be casuing my "failed flash" issue?
Having recently successfully rooted using unrevoked3 one-click, what happens when the next Android/Sense upgrade arrives? Do I simply stay rooted and install the upgrade? Does this in any way disturb the existing Clockwork functionality?

I myself had to do this, as I couldn't always answer the phone (swipes were simply ignored about 70% of the time) and the weather widget was out, too. Had to hard reset and, from what I hear, so have many others. Why is this? I called HTC, who called what Verizon did "buggy".

I removed a flashlight app that I had installed from the market. I restarted several times. Tried removing the battery for 15 minutes. All no help. any suggestions. Everything else seems to work properly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just manually updated to 2.2 (successfully) but I started to panic when I couldn't find the camera shots category in the new gallery app. I mounted the phone to my computer and found the photos on my phones internal memory, so they're all safe, but I still cant view them on my phone. Also, whenever I take a picture and try to go back to review it later, I get a "no photos found" error, and the new photo doesn't show up in the directory of the previously "lost" photos from prior to the update. It's safe to say that I'm utterly bamboozled. Anyone else experiencing this issue or know how to fix it?

Any idea what has caused this? Is my hardware busted?
I received my Froyo update today and it is wreaking havoc on the apps I use most. ESPN radio and MLB atbat. The streaming audio is very choppy. I did not back up and my phone is not rooted. Can I undo this update?

I'm not very good with the tech and software side of things (quite a dunce really) and have looked for a guide as to what to do prior to installing the update and also once completed. Is anyone able to steer me in the right direction as to where a good guide is or maybe a few pointers. My phone isn't rooted and is not something I want to gamble with being not techsavvy.

Posted Today, 08:16 PM My Kingston 16G class 10 sd card actually physically cracked and is therefore defunct but Kingston will be replacing it within the week - I foolishly do not have it backed up on my PC. I had rooted my Incredible with Unprovoked 3 and had been experimenting with a couple of Froyo ROMs using ROM Manager: Cyanogen6RG3 and Skyrider 2.5. I had just updated my Clockwork Mod Recovery (and to truly screw things up ) I had made full use of Apps2sd. Now, when I put my old SanDisk 2G sd back in, (all I had was 1 old nandroid backup on it) I am back to: Or, do I want to try reinstalling Rom Manager and do the permission fix - then reflash one of the Froyo Roms. But would that get me Market back? In all cases I'm gonna have to reinstall most of my apps since most resided (at least partially) on the dead sd. Fortunately appbrain has a record of all my apps. - but, from what I understand, there's no way to install the Market, except via HTC/Google/Verizon. So, I probably won't have my new 16G card for almost a week and I'm very open to suggestions as to my best plan of attack. I guess I should also think about repartitioning the new sd - according to the recent lag fixes. Please know that, for the time being, I'm pretty much command line challenged - so (perhaps foolishly) - I am doing all of this on the phone itself. I recently downloaded SDK to my PC and I was just getting ready to try to get the hang of adb, emulator etc - but I'm hoping I can get my phone back to where it was before I get into that project.

So far the phone works I have Market 2.2 etc, but I tested Hulu and found out that my "handset" doesn't work with this format. I'm not sure how to check for Flash 10.1 but some video worked on the Adobe flash player site.
I still have some apps and my phone and wifi seem to be working fine.I don't have Market, Rom Manager, Titanium (but I DO have SuperUser). When I USB my phone to PC - the PC doesn't see either the phone pr the card although I haven't reinstalled HTC Sync). At this point, I don't really even know if I'm rooted or have busybox.I'm really puzzled as to what I should do next:I don't know whether to do a phone restore from Settings or, perhaps from Recovery? Or whether to find a RUU (Is there one with the updated radio or with Froyo? Or, I guess I could wait for the OTA - but that's a wimped out way out and it might not even work at this point. However, earlier this week, I got the following message from Verizon. Should I pursue it, or will it brick my phone? If I don't do this, I'll likely hard reset my phone. I've been having a few hicups lately. Nothing to write home about, but still annoying. I've read that some suggest a hard reset after updating due to similar situations.

I found the place to call to get the user manual, if you want a paper version. It is the same size as the tips and hints book that comes with our phones, but about 5/8 of an inch thick. It is free. Here's the number: PCD Phones - 1-800-229-1235. Just got mine today. They should have included this with the phone.

View 1 Replies View Relatedalright, just installed 2.2, but my incredible has rebooted 5 times already after the initial install. it's currently rebooting, showing the lock screen, then when i pull it down i get the white htc screen with the pop up and some sort of % (i imagine some sort of setup process) it's already told me the first time "congratulations, you've been updated to build x.x.x.xxx" it also tells me "sorry! process System is not responding" now that just sounds like crap. it just rebooted the 6th time... note that i installed 2.2 manually.
