I just purchased my first Android phone (HTC Incredible from Verizon). It has 8G internal memory. My microSD only has 2G and it's almost full. Many of the apps I've downloaded require the SD so I'd like to transfer my pic's and music from the SD to the onboard memory. However I've been unable to figure out how to do that.

can we view/edit/delete files on the onboard memory from the phone? is there a built in app i am not seeing that does this? i haven't seen this discussed yet.just to be more clear, i am talking about the 6.6gig that we are free to do whatever we want with.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to help my gf with a phone issue with her Droid Incredible. Her screen recently stopped working, so we took it into the Verizon store and she got a warranty replacement. We still have her old phone (it must be returned within 10 days), and I was hoping I might be able to retrieve her photos from the onboard memory.
She does have an SD card, but she only installed it a few days prior to this incident, so I assume her photos were being stored to the onboard memory prior to this.
The phone appears to still be functional except for the screen... It still rings when it receives calls (but can't answer them), still beeps for text messages, etc., and when I hook it up to a computer via USB, two inaccessible disk drives appear.
The problem, as far as I can tell from reading online, is that the onboard memory can't be accessed unless you click "Disk mode" [or whatever it's called] on the phone after plugging it in, and if you don't click this option, it defaults to "Charge Only".
So its great that the Inc comes with 6G of onboard memory- but I cant figure out how to utilize it for anything since apps cant see it.Anyone have any creative workarounds or legitimate uses?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded Astro, so I could move a few of my pics from my Onboard drive to my SD card. When I select move, and go to the SD card and select paste it gives me an error. I can move from one directory on my Onboard Drive to another Directory on my Onboard drive. I can also Move from one directory to another on my SD Card. But I can't move from my Onboard Drive to SD Card, or vice versa. Anybody else having this problem? Is there another file manager I can get that'll do this?
View 8 Replies View RelatedMaybe this is more of an android question, not sure, but here it goes: so the incredible has 6+ gb of onboard storage, primarily for media. if i buy a micro sdhc card (say 8 gb), will the music/video player apps see both storage devices and merge all songs/videos into 1 selection screen, or is it like a real computer/os and i have to swap folders/drives? if it's the former, will it be seemless? what happens to play lists? can i have a play list that spans on-board songs and songs stored on the card?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got myself a new 16gb memory card, and want to put in my rooted Hero with Elelinux 1.6, but having trouble.Heres what I've done so far:
* I copy/pasted everything from my old membery card onto my pc desktop.
* Put new mem card into my hero - sorted out the partitions (in case I go back to 2.1 and need app2sd)
* Formatted the sd card within Android
* copy/pasted everything from my pc desktop onto my new memory card
The problem is, none of my installed apps/widgets are there. I tried to install Titanium from the marketplace, but for some reason wasn't able to - it just sort of hung on the download screen, (even though I didn't actually choose to download it?)
I read that people moved Avatar from the microSD card to the internal memory so they can put in their 8GB microSD. How was this done?

My memory card deletes stuff on it automatically, the phone cannot read it at times and there is no way I can seem to format it either. I want to transfer them to the card so I can put them into my computer. Does anyone know how to do this? I have been unable to sync using the cord because of a driver issue. This might just be me being a bit stupid but i've just got myself an x10 and am trying to transfer all my music files from my old handset. They are saved on my SD card an i have put my old SD card into the phone and have found my music files using mediascape... however i don't know how to take them from the SD card an store them on the phones memory so i can put my new&bigger SD card into the phone. Does this make sense?

Must the phone be plugged into the computer? If so must it be windows?
Must usb debugging be on as well as allow unknown sources?
I download busy box and can get to the screen where I select backup apps and data but have no idea where the backup of this is stored...where? I hit the backup apps and data button and run but instantly I go back to the home screen. Is my stuff backed up? Please Help! THanks so much!

id like to remove apps and widgets that i don't intend on ever using.
no interest in restoring them, i want to make myself a stripped down speed-deamon version of my current rom (SR3.3.1) which i love. If i need any of the stuff back ill just flash a new rom.
I connect to my works Exchange server using EAS (I think, it was the default) and it syncs with my mail automagically as stuff comes in. I'd really like to find a way to automatically delete stuff on the Hero as I delete stuff on the exchange server. Is there a way to do this without involving another program?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried ShadowRom and CM6 and love both but it's far too buggy for me right now. On SR I would have 5-6 reboots a day which I can't bear. With CM6 it's down to 1-2 reboots a day but sometimes my phone will completely cut off and not reboot at all and I won't know that it's off until I go to wake it up. I also have had voicemails and missed calls that I haven't been notified of and the missed calls won't even show up in the call log later. I only know they are missed when friends tell me they called me three times in a row with no answer. Lastly the battery life is killing me on CM6. I've never drained my 2150 battery before and everybody for the past week I've had CM6 the battery had died with display as the main cause. So I've finally decided I just need to go back to Stock 2.2 and install LauncherPro. So my question is, I know how to remove some of the crapware but what other things can I remove that are Sense related from the stock rom that won't compromise the phone in any way but that will make it run faster and smoother? Is there a tutorial for this somewhere?

View 25 Replies View RelatedBefore I rooted I would go through my sd card and delete files that were no longer needed such as application files from applications that I would download and later delete. Now that I'm rooted I am a little hesitant to do that because I'm not sure if there are files on there that are necessary for root.
For example: the SU file on the SD Card. Is that the program itself or is it just the install file. If I were to delete it would I lose the superuser or would it not effect it? I just got a 16 gig sd card so I am wondering what files I need to transfer over if there are any.
I DL'ed and ran the unprovoked program. It did its thing and said done. it rebooted and looks exactly like it did before....questions:
1) how do I know if it is rooted and ready to go?

Will I be able to take it to the store for activation/transfer my numbers and everything without the "primary phone owner" or whatever Verizon calls the main number on the family plan? Whenever I try to call them or go online I'm unable to do anything because I'm not the head honcho.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI feel really dumb just asking this, but I don't want to wipe anything and I don't want a separate radio install. I'd like to get root, do s-off, and do one ROM flash or whatever that updates me to 2.2 and let's me get on with my life.
Someone linked to a ROM that said it was based on the real ota 2.2, but that doesn't make sense to me if you have to update your radio first and wipe your phone, when the ota doesn't require that.
Should I just try to flash without backing up stuff and wiping and hope for the best? I think I have a phobia of some sort here involving stuff with more than 3 or 4 steps.

Either that is Horrible or the 4 reps I showed/spoke with are morons. I have 30 pics on my phone that I want sent to the card so I can do a hard reset. Any ideas?

I currently have an Env, but transferring photos and videos I captured with it to my computer is a chore since the included software is Windows only.
A few more questions. Does the Incredible play AAC files, and how would documents be transferred back and forth via an app like Documents to Go?
