can we view/edit/delete files on the onboard memory from the phone? is there a built in app i am not seeing that does this? i haven't seen this discussed yet.just to be more clear, i am talking about the 6.6gig that we are free to do whatever we want with.

Does anyone know how to access the internal storage memory using ES File Explorer? I have tried going up and down the folder hierarchy and can never find it.I've read that Astro File Manager can access it but I prefer using ES File Explorer and don't want to have two file managers on my DI.I am surprised at this stage of Android that a file explorer is not included in the OS.

Many of the apps I've downloaded require the SD so I'd like to transfer my pic's and music from the SD to the onboard memory. However I've been unable to figure out how to do that.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to help my gf with a phone issue with her Droid Incredible. Her screen recently stopped working, so we took it into the Verizon store and she got a warranty replacement. We still have her old phone (it must be returned within 10 days), and I was hoping I might be able to retrieve her photos from the onboard memory.
She does have an SD card, but she only installed it a few days prior to this incident, so I assume her photos were being stored to the onboard memory prior to this.
The phone appears to still be functional except for the screen... It still rings when it receives calls (but can't answer them), still beeps for text messages, etc., and when I hook it up to a computer via USB, two inaccessible disk drives appear.
The problem, as far as I can tell from reading online, is that the onboard memory can't be accessed unless you click "Disk mode" [or whatever it's called] on the phone after plugging it in, and if you don't click this option, it defaults to "Charge Only".
I have tried a lot of custom Roms. I'm on Neat ROM Lite now. Not sure which ROM changed my file access permission settings to cause this problem but I'm not able to delete any files from my external memory card. I was able to delete when I was on stock rom. The other problem is for a few apps I get an error message which says can't install on usb/sd card. I have posted this in another thread some time back but got no response.
This is what my file permission looks like.
I am able to delete when my fone is connected to PC via USB. So I don't think it has anything to do with a faulty sd card.
I installed ES File explorer v1.4.6 and I was able to add my freeNAS over wifi at home.I can access the folders and can list the thumbnails of the photos on the phone but when I try to view one all I get is a black screen with right and left arrows.If I copy and past the file onto the sdcard, EStrong can then view it from there.any ideas as to why it fails to view the files directly from the network server? It shows the loading process but no pic.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded Astro, so I could move a few of my pics from my Onboard drive to my SD card. When I select move, and go to the SD card and select paste it gives me an error. I can move from one directory on my Onboard Drive to another Directory on my Onboard drive. I can also Move from one directory to another on my SD Card. But I can't move from my Onboard Drive to SD Card, or vice versa. Anybody else having this problem? Is there another file manager I can get that'll do this?

At first empty ad card was working hood then when I used up a few gb and re inserted the sd card the problem began After 5-10 seconds of mounting sd it goes out and phone shows that sd is removed unexpectedly, sometimes my phone hangs in this cycle and reboots(starts again from bootanimation part) This sd works fine with other things like my Sony cybershot w-x50

I have no idea why this file was activated and when I looked at my task killer, most of my phone's memory had been used up but no programs were running in the background. I've never seen it get this low even when using 20 programs at a time. I've been using a mixture of apps that I've downloaded off of my computer and through the market. Is there any way that someone has access to my device and can look through all of my files/folders? Are there any known hacks/Trojans/viruses that do this?

Or do I need to connect it via usb to my computer each time and then select to connect in disk drive mode and use the explorer on the computer to browse the folders on my htc?
2. Talking about the htc sync program, I couldn't connect to the computer via bluetooth and htc sync software. Is there a way to do this or can you only sync using usb cable?
In the DDMS, I had used FileExplorer and visited /data/app folder to see the .apk files installed in the emulator. After that I had minimized the data folder and thus stopped that process.
But I am observing that this /data/app folder is opening again and again automatically. I dont know what is the reason and how to stop it.
installed Estrong File explorer and I am able to connect to my PC (Windows 7 Pro 64bit) when i select a file to open-for example a mp3 file, i get a error "Do you forget to insert sdcard?" I do not have a SD card in my mobile. is it needed for opening files from the remote PC? I am assuming that Estrong looks for a temp folder for caching, is there a way that i can change this path to something like "emmcestrongcache" where can I find this option?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had the E Strong File Explorer for some time but never really used it. So today I wanted to create a special folder for some pictures i downloaded off the web. All the ones I downloaded were put under sdcard/downloads. I created a folder and named it "Cars" and then went to the download folder, copied the pictures, went to the Cars folder and pasted them there. I then think I made a mistake and went to the original pictures in the download folder and deleted them. Now when I open my photo gallery and go to the download folder, i see frames for the pics but no picture. And when I try and open them I just get a black screen. When I go back in the file explorer, I'm able to go to the "cars" folder, click on a picture, choose image from the drop down menu, and then I can view it. So what did I do wrong and is it fixable?

In doing this, Estrong's File Manager notified me that only 3 of my total applications failed to backup.Can anybody tell me why these apk files failed to backup to my sdcard? The system works just fine after a fresh reboot of my PC. After a few hours, I get the "Login Fails" error (plain text or SMB). The only way to fix it is to reboot my PC. I believe its a Windows 7 setting that causing this. I searched all over the net for a fix and none of them worked. I tried:
Enabling Guest Account
Changed Advanced Sharing Settings
Set "Everyone" as read in the File Share Window
Enabled Inbound/Outbound rules in the Advanced Windows Firewall
Enabled sending unencrypted passwords to SMB via Local Security Policy
I can go into more detail of the fixes I tried if needed. What is an alternative to sharing files from a Windows 7 machine to Android devices? I feel like Ill never get ES File Explorer to work.
In the email application, EmailProvider.db is not seen. Can anyone tell me how to retrieve the same? Earlier in eclair code it was present in data/data/com.android.email/ databases/EmailProvider.db So how do we retrieve the same?

I have an FTP server I'd like to connect but it says it cannot be reached, even though I'm 100% sure the details are correct.
And another thing: what is the best File Manager/Explorer app? I found like a dozen of them and honestly, I don't feel like installing them all to find out which one is the best.
I signed my google drive account in the explorer, and i have folder with few photos that have the same name.. The explorer doesn't show all the photos..

I have my Nexus One connected with the USB.When I visit the File Explorer of the DDMS, if I click on the "data" folder the little plus near the name "data" disappear for 2-6 seconds and then reappear but the contenct of the folder "data" is not showed!
