I know this is redundant, i just cant seem to find the thread explaining it
id like to remove apps and widgets that i don't intend on ever using.
no interest in restoring them, i want to make myself a stripped down speed-deamon version of my current rom (SR3.3.1) which i love. If i need any of the stuff back ill just flash a new rom.

When you hit the Phone, to make a call or check recent calls, etc. Do i have any options to change this? (without root) I liked some of the features of my Moto Droid, 1 feature was the "Favorites" list which automatically makes a list of your most contacted. Also, is there such a thing as a widget for the phone screen? So i dont have to actually push the phone button?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the frankenrom b6. Been happy with it ever since I got it and havent felt to need to change from the ROM. I know there is an update coming out tomorrow with some Verizon bloatware. I don't really care about the other stuff but the Vcast app store because I want to see if they offer any decent apps that aren't on the Android Market place. Is there a way to get it without changing ROM, unrooting or changing radio?

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I just rooted my dinc and am about to add the ota radio update.zip but I'm trying to backup my stuff with titanium and can't seem to figure it out. I would greatly appreciate any advice or answers to these questions:
Must the phone be plugged into the computer? If so must it be windows?
Must usb debugging be on as well as allow unknown sources?
I download busy box and can get to the screen where I select backup apps and data but have no idea where the backup of this is stored...where? I hit the backup apps and data button and run but instantly I go back to the home screen. Is my stuff backed up? Please Help! THanks so much!
I connect to my works Exchange server using EAS (I think, it was the default) and it syncs with my mail automagically as stuff comes in. I'd really like to find a way to automatically delete stuff on the Hero as I delete stuff on the exchange server. Is there a way to do this without involving another program?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried ShadowRom and CM6 and love both but it's far too buggy for me right now. On SR I would have 5-6 reboots a day which I can't bear. With CM6 it's down to 1-2 reboots a day but sometimes my phone will completely cut off and not reboot at all and I won't know that it's off until I go to wake it up. I also have had voicemails and missed calls that I haven't been notified of and the missed calls won't even show up in the call log later. I only know they are missed when friends tell me they called me three times in a row with no answer. Lastly the battery life is killing me on CM6. I've never drained my 2150 battery before and everybody for the past week I've had CM6 the battery had died with display as the main cause. So I've finally decided I just need to go back to Stock 2.2 and install LauncherPro. So my question is, I know how to remove some of the crapware but what other things can I remove that are Sense related from the stock rom that won't compromise the phone in any way but that will make it run faster and smoother? Is there a tutorial for this somewhere?

Many of the apps I've downloaded require the SD so I'd like to transfer my pic's and music from the SD to the onboard memory. However I've been unable to figure out how to do that.

View 25 Replies View RelatedBefore I rooted I would go through my sd card and delete files that were no longer needed such as application files from applications that I would download and later delete. Now that I'm rooted I am a little hesitant to do that because I'm not sure if there are files on there that are necessary for root.
For example: the SU file on the SD Card. Is that the program itself or is it just the install file. If I were to delete it would I lose the superuser or would it not effect it? I just got a 16 gig sd card so I am wondering what files I need to transfer over if there are any.
I'm new to Andriod and in a place with poor WiFi and poor cell coverage but was able to download my first program yesterday "Olive Tree" and it works.
I don't understand all the icons on the power strip I put on my home page:
From left to right:
WiFi, Bluetooth, X.Y, Screen Brightness
Can some one explain X and Y?
Screen is set to medium.
I turn WiFi and Bluetooth on and off as needed. Is that good power mangegment?
At a conference so don't get to play much most of the day.
Also using the built in weather widget, not much connectivity sometimes it works, sometimes not.
I DL'ed and ran the unprovoked program. It did its thing and said done. it rebooted and looks exactly like it did before....questions:
1) how do I know if it is rooted and ready to go?
2) how to I make changes, like allow mobile hot spot and cool stuff like that?I wont even get into how I can add froyo, simple things first

I have a MacBook Pro w/ my music on itunes, although I didn't buy any of it through them. Is there any issue with connecting my new phone to my computer and getting my music stuff on it? View 2 Replies View RelatedI feel really dumb just asking this, but I don't want to wipe anything and I don't want a separate radio install. I'd like to get root, do s-off, and do one ROM flash or whatever that updates me to 2.2 and let's me get on with my life.
Someone linked to a ROM that said it was based on the real ota 2.2, but that doesn't make sense to me if you have to update your radio first and wipe your phone, when the ota doesn't require that.
Should I just try to flash without backing up stuff and wiping and hope for the best? I think I have a phobia of some sort here involving stuff with more than 3 or 4 steps.
I really like the look of those white icons in the power strip. Are there any icon packs out there that have a similar look to them and work with BetterCut?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo what is going on after the last update? My phone randomly freaks out at times and starts switching screens and stuff on it's own. Seems like it is possessed. Never did this before the update...and a friend of mine is having the same problem with their Incredible. Also at times I try to go back to the home screen and the screen goes completely black for a bit....then will eventually go to it. When it freaks out the only thing I can do is restart it and then it will work fine until the next time it freaks out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot my DInc yesterday, ordered in store 5/14, shipped 5/28, arrived 6/1 (thank you, holiday weekend.) Charged it to 100% and started exploring. Went to bed last night with the battery around 40%, left it ON intentionally to run down, was at 14% when I got up, now down to 5%. Will let it die then charge while turned off. Overall I am impressed. Love the feel of the phone (except the plastic back doesn't seem to be very durable.) It's VERY fast (I came from a Razr2 V9m) and the apps are great. Went crazy trying to set up Yahoo! Mail until I realized I needed to TURN OFF WIFI so it would authenticate. Soon as I did that, I was good to go. Used a few Twitter apps, love Hootsuite (I use that on the web) but it's unstable, so I'm using Twitter for Android and am happy with that. Have not used Friendstream yet. Created a Google Account just for my contacts, cleaned them up and had them ready when I activated the phone, everything came in clean. Call quality is excellent even with 1-2 bars, speaker sounds great. Controls are well placed. Overall it's clearly the best phone I've ever owned. Still have a lot to learn. Wish I'd had it over the weekend, I'd be a pro by now. :/
Boxwave screen protector: great item (got the non-glare one). Didn't know I needed a Clean Room to install it. Literally went from the factory plastic to the Boxwave and still managed to get dust underneath. Removed & cleaned it per the instructions, reinstalled, and now have EVEN MORE dust bubbles. I'll try again. The protector itself is awesome, love the matte finish it gives the phone, no fingerprints. Just a royal PITA to install (I guess they all are.) Using the black rubberish VZW combo holster/case. The holster is okay but as others have reported the phone doesn't snap in very securely. Anyone with an active lifestyle had better keep it vertical or it's probably gonna slide out. The case has a really nice feel and offers some but not complete protection (exposed top & bottom edges), but it's fine for me for now. Pretty sure I'm going to get a Seido Innocase and see how it fits with the VZW holster, or, just bite the damn bullet and get the Seido holster as well. That is, unless Accessory One gets their act together and eventually sends me the CORRECT leather pouch I ordered. :/ At that point, I might have to go commando (just a screen protector) but we'll see. I do like how the VZW case makes it so the camera lens isn't touching anything when you lay the phone on its back. Decisions, decisions....................
So this morning, I put my phone on a little pile of clothes on my bathroom sink. I take my shower, get out and it's still sitting there. I tool around for ten minutes, and of course, after sitting there perfectly for almost 25 minutes, I go to brush my teeth with the water running and doesn't it pick that 1 minute window to slide off into the water. It was in the water for maybe half second. It was not submerged or have water run on it. It was back down in the water. I grabbed it, immediately rubbed the water off and removed the back cover and battery. Everything was dry. I thought I dodged a bullet. I out the battery back in and restarted. I came back a minute later and it was off. I tried to restart, nothing. I plugged it in, and the charge indicator did not come back on. I pulled the battery again, and blew into where the battery connects and noticed water coming out! Not a lot, but it was there. It either got in through the HDMI or USB, or, more likely though the back of the kickstand.
Stupid me thought I got it all out, put the battery back in and tried again. This time it made it to the Sprint 4G screen then died. I put the phone in a bag of uncooked rice. When I got to work, I pulled it out and after shaking the rice out of it (let me tell you how much rice got into to phone!!), I used compressed air in it. I didn't see any more water. I put it back with the rice and am now just scared to death. Not sure how long I should wait to put the battery back in and try it. So, this is the second evo I had as I exchanged the first one for screen separation issues. I noticed that the first phone I had water damage indicators on the outside under the cover. Now, I don't see them. If they were still where they used to be, I'd be in the clear since it never got wet back there. The battery indicator is fine. Just can't find the other ones now and I'm scared to death that when I tried to restart I may have permanently ruined my phone and I have no insurance.
I have an Android application which grabs some data from an external XML source. I've stripped out some HTML from one of the XML elements, but it's in the format:

<p>Some more text</p>
<p>Some final text</p> I want to extract the middle paragraph text, how can I do this? Would a regular expression be the best way? I don't really want to start including external HTML parsing libraries.
Has anyone else experienced a strange problem with the Milestone (running 2.1) camera - in every photo, the right edge shows a thin vertical strip of the next photo! Shows in both Gallery & Media Gallery.. but don't have a similar issue in a video.

I honestly don't want Sense UI or any other proprietary UI. And at least on the Incredible (and presumably the EVO), its impossible to turn it off.

Now i have read that rooting from 2.1 is easier than rooting from 1.5 cupcake. But when i put the month forward to get the ota update, it first upgrades my firmware, then resets my phone , then i get a picture of a phone with a phone and a triangle with the exclamation mark. I then press home and power and comes up with the android system recovery and says E:Failure at line.

I figured I'd post this in the root forums cuz it may be because of my rom. But anyways, I've noticed that sometimes I'd get a phone call and almost immediately it would stop and show as a missed call. It could just be caused by the person calling but I figured I'd ask and see if anyone else had the issue. In running BB v.1 with the 1ghz kernel and the baseband update. Any thoughts?

The first version worked great without of course the camer the wifi and so on that there were not working with this first version, then i made something very stupid and format the SD CARD and since then i cant boot/start my phone. When i try to start it it only shows "Samsung Galaxy" and nothing else.So my question is what i can do to fix this? really need help (im a niewbie)

View 13 Replies View RelatedI hate how my fb is linked to my phone. I dont like how I get all of my friends on fb as contacts. I dont need all that!! I went to people> menu> and then unselected facebook and stuff on there. So in my contact list, my fb friends contacts dont show.. GREAT!
But if I go to home screen and press phone. and if I scroll all the way to the bottom, the fb friends are all still there... How do I delete them? I long press and there is no delete contact option. I deleted all data on my phone of any fb stuff. What else can i do?
