HTC Incredible :: Backup My Stuff With Titanium?

Aug 3, 2010

So I just rooted my dinc and am about to add the ota radio update.zip but I'm trying to backup my stuff with titanium and can't seem to figure it out. I would greatly appreciate any advice or answers to these questions:

Must the phone be plugged into the computer? If so must it be windows?

Must usb debugging be on as well as allow unknown sources?

I download busy box and can get to the screen where I select backup apps and data but have no idea where the backup of this is stored...where? I hit the backup apps and data button and run but instantly I go back to the home screen. Is my stuff backed up? Please Help! THanks so much!

HTC Incredible :: Stock Rom - Manually Remove Stuff

Oct 2, 2010

I've tried ShadowRom and CM6 and love both but it's far too buggy for me right now. On SR I would have 5-6 reboots a day which I can't bear. With CM6 it's down to 1-2 reboots a day but sometimes my phone will completely cut off and not reboot at all and I won't know that it's off until I go to wake it up. I also have had voicemails and missed calls that I haven't been notified of and the missed calls won't even show up in the call log later. I only know they are missed when friends tell me they called me three times in a row with no answer. Lastly the battery life is killing me on CM6. I've never drained my 2150 battery before and everybody for the past week I've had CM6 the battery had died with display as the main cause. So I've finally decided I just need to go back to Stock 2.2 and install LauncherPro. So my question is, I know how to remove some of the crapware but what other things can I remove that are Sense related from the stock rom that won't compromise the phone in any way but that will make it run faster and smoother? Is there a tutorial for this somewhere?

HTC Incredible :: Transferring Stuff From SD To Onboard Memory?

Apr 29, 2010

I just purchased my first Android phone (HTC Incredible from Verizon). It has 8G internal memory. My microSD only has 2G and it's almost full. Many of the apps I've downloaded require the SD so I'd like to transfer my pic's and music from the SD to the onboard memory. However I've been unable to figure out how to do that.

HTC Incredible :: Deleting Stuff On SD Card After Root?

Jun 29, 2010

Before I rooted I would go through my sd card and delete files that were no longer needed such as application files from applications that I would download and later delete. Now that I'm rooted I am a little hesitant to do that because I'm not sure if there are files on there that are necessary for root.

For example: the SU file on the SD Card. Is that the program itself or is it just the install file. If I were to delete it would I lose the superuser or would it not effect it? I just got a 16 gig sd card so I am wondering what files I need to transfer over if there are any.

HTC Incredible :: Connecting Phone To Computer And Getting Music Stuff

Apr 24, 2010

I have no idea where to go to get these (probably routine, simple) questions asked. Thanks for answers/links. I just purchased my phone and I'm really excited. And nervous, is that weird? 1. I have a MacBook Pro w/ my music on itunes, although I didn't buy any of it through them. Is there any issue with connecting my new phone to my computer and getting my music stuff on it? Is it easy or do I need to read about how to do it from somewhere? FWIW, easy to me = drag and drop, or have it automatically transfer.

1a. I am hoping to replace my ipod touch with this device. Realistic? Or silly dream?
2. What should I do to the phone when I first get it? Are there things Verizon includes that I should delete (like when you first buy a computer and it's preloaded w/ a ton of crap)? Are there things I need to immediately get?
2b. I assume those things I need to immediately get are apps. Can I browse them now w/out the phone or can I only do it from the phone? What are the "must haves"? Is there a website that lists the most popular/useful apps?
3. Is there a good tutorial for how to get the most out of Android? Or do I just monkey around and see what I like/dislike?
4. Should I root this thing? Not quire sure what that means, but it seems to be what the cool kids do.
4b. Other than paying for the teething thing from VZW, is rooting the only way to get that ability?

HTC Incredible : OTA Doesn't Require Wipe - Flash Without Backing Up Stuff?

Aug 29, 2010

I feel really dumb just asking this, but I don't want to wipe anything and I don't want a separate radio install. I'd like to get root, do s-off, and do one ROM flash or whatever that updates me to 2.2 and let's me get on with my life.

Someone linked to a ROM that said it was based on the real ota 2.2, but that doesn't make sense to me if you have to update your radio first and wipe your phone, when the ota doesn't require that.

Should I just try to flash without backing up stuff and wiping and hope for the best? I think I have a phobia of some sort here involving stuff with more than 3 or 4 steps.

Android :: Accessing Style Items By Style ID

But when I move attributes to style I cannot see attributes and values exists in a style - I want to read items declared in style but I have only styleID in defStyle parameter. Is there some way to read style Items using styleID?

Spinner Style Can't Be Changed To Newer Style?

Jan 8, 2014

I've developed a fairly extensive application. The problem began when I started programming...my spinners are the solid gray rectangular style (unlike the newer style with the triangle in the lower right corner). When I started developing this app several months ago, I couldn't figure out why my spinners were different (after many hours) so I just ignored it. I'm at the point now of polishing my program and want the newer spinner style. So, I'm beating my head against the wall again. I went to my Android SDK Mananger in Eclipse and updated my Android SDK Tools, Platform-tools, and Build-tools. I have the lastest versions of all of these (22.3 and 19.0.1). When I create a new project, the newer spinner style appears. However, none of my older projects changed. They still have the same old gray, rectangular type spinners. I tried using a "android format" line command I found while Googling, but no luck with that either.I'm using ADT Bundle with build v22.2.1-833290 on a Mac OSX Mavericks.

So what is going on after the last update? My phone randomly freaks out at times and starts switching screens and stuff on it's own. Seems like it is possessed. Never did this before the update...and a friend of mine is having the same problem with their Incredible. Also at times I try to go back to the home screen and the screen goes completely black for a bit....then will eventually go to it. When it freaks out the only thing I can do is restart it and then it will work fine until the next time it freaks out.

HTC Incredible :: First Impressions - Boxwave Frustrations - VZW Holster Case - Battery Stuff

Jun 2, 2010

Got my DInc yesterday, ordered in store 5/14, shipped 5/28, arrived 6/1 (thank you, holiday weekend.) Charged it to 100% and started exploring. Went to bed last night with the battery around 40%, left it ON intentionally to run down, was at 14% when I got up, now down to 5%. Will let it die then charge while turned off. Overall I am impressed. Love the feel of the phone (except the plastic back doesn't seem to be very durable.) It's VERY fast (I came from a Razr2 V9m) and the apps are great. Went crazy trying to set up Yahoo! Mail until I realized I needed to TURN OFF WIFI so it would authenticate. Soon as I did that, I was good to go. Used a few Twitter apps, love Hootsuite (I use that on the web) but it's unstable, so I'm using Twitter for Android and am happy with that. Have not used Friendstream yet. Created a Google Account just for my contacts, cleaned them up and had them ready when I activated the phone, everything came in clean. Call quality is excellent even with 1-2 bars, speaker sounds great. Controls are well placed. Overall it's clearly the best phone I've ever owned. Still have a lot to learn. Wish I'd had it over the weekend, I'd be a pro by now. :/

Boxwave screen protector: great item (got the non-glare one). Didn't know I needed a Clean Room to install it. Literally went from the factory plastic to the Boxwave and still managed to get dust underneath. Removed & cleaned it per the instructions, reinstalled, and now have EVEN MORE dust bubbles. I'll try again. The protector itself is awesome, love the matte finish it gives the phone, no fingerprints. Just a royal PITA to install (I guess they all are.) Using the black rubberish VZW combo holster/case. The holster is okay but as others have reported the phone doesn't snap in very securely. Anyone with an active lifestyle had better keep it vertical or it's probably gonna slide out. The case has a really nice feel and offers some but not complete protection (exposed top & bottom edges), but it's fine for me for now. Pretty sure I'm going to get a Seido Innocase and see how it fits with the VZW holster, or, just bite the damn bullet and get the Seido holster as well. That is, unless Accessory One gets their act together and eventually sends me the CORRECT leather pouch I ordered. :/ At that point, I might have to go commando (just a screen protector) but we'll see. I do like how the VZW case makes it so the camera lens isn't touching anything when you lay the phone on its back. Decisions, decisions....................

Games :: Datel Wifi Wireless Retro Controller

Jun 1, 2010

Wii Wireless Retro Controller - Codejunkies US It's a completely wireless version of the classic controller for a Nintendo Wii. was hoping it would be a better replacement for the wiimote for playing SNES games on my Nexus One using SNESoid. It is! Everything synced like a snap by going into the SNESoid controls, enabling the option for "use input method" and turning off the virtual keypad. Every function available on the controller works well, and is recognized by the Wiimote software available in the market by searching for wiimote. I am using the free (donate) version made by CCCP.You then just manually configure each button in SNESoid. If you are using the screen upside down option, you'll need to reverse your directions of course. I prefer to do this so I can set my phone down and have the volume buttons be on the top of the phone instead of the bottom of the phone. There is no lag that I can detect, and I've tried it with 5 games. I've tried it with Zelda, Super Metroid, R-Type, and Street Fighter, and Super Mario World. Out of these games, Super Metroid And Street Fighter by far has the more complicated control scheme, but as I've played this game fairly recently I didn't spend a lot of time trying it out.

Some thoughts:
It is a lot more comfortable than you might think. It's shaped basically like a classic controller, the rubberized grips on the back are VERY solidly put on, I couldn't even take them off if I wanted to. These shouldn't be falling off anytime soon, they are on there with a deathgrip! It's pretty light.

The only button that does not work on the controller with the phone is of course the power button. This is used to turn off and on a Wii, useless for the phone of course. The sync button on the back works perfectly, and you will have to use it whenever you turn the controller off by pressing the power button on the controller. Which is a good thing, as the controller can be disabled from being able to send data when you're not using it. More battery saving there I'm sure. Some sites have suggested it has a plugin for mini usb so you can recharge some rechargeable AAA batteries with it, mine does not. AAA batteries only. The D pad seems to not be as good as it could be, it feels like it doesn't stick up high enough, and at times it seems like it doesn't recognize a key press. It's not as good as the d pad on a PS3 sixaxis controller, that's for sure and it's not quite as good as the d pad on a wiimote.Which is fine by me, even with a PC emulator, I tend to prefer to use the analog sticks even for digital controls except for games such as street fighter and the like, which I don't play anymore. So I use the analog sticks to be setup as the digital controls. Both sticks are recognized by the software and in Snesoid. Anyone who'se played these games is going to want to instantly know. OMG CAN YOU DRAGON PUNCH WITH IT!
Not with using the dpad. The dpad on this is not very good. It was tolerable for Zelda, but it just doesn't fly for Street Fighter. Not even remotely. I couldn't even fireball with it. Dragon punching is pretty hard at first. Maybe I'll get better at it. Strangely enough, this is EXACTLY how it was when I was a kid playing this game on my SNES at home. In the arcade it was a lot easier. I'm not sure why I can't do it on this controller very well, It works PERFECTLY for super metroid, which is great news. You don't program in the diagonal buttons in snesoid, you just program in the 4 way directions and the phone's built in 8 way notch works perfectly for aiming diagonally if you don't want to use the shoulder buttons to do this. Great news as it's one of my all time favorite games. But oh well, I don't really feel like playing street fighter on the phone, except for maybe showing off to friends. Well, that would be fun in and of itself, but not really. If I don't use ryu, ken, or sagat, all of the characters control perfectly.

It's recognized by the software as a classic controller, so I'm sure that a couple of months ago this would NOT have worked. The wiimote software was only recently enabled to work with classic controllers.By utilizing the wiimote software, it looks like there is no limitation with how many button presses you can do on it at one time, which is a hardware limitation in the droid phone using something such as a game gripper. In a nutshell, if you don't mind shelling out $50 for it, don't hesitate to buy it! It took a week to ship, and the $9 shipping including UPS tracking service. A signature was not required.I'm happy with it . It's about 30% longer than my phone, just a hair wider, and a lot thicker. Not pocket worthy unless you're talking a cargo pocket, but very easy to throw in your bag.PS: If your phone is expensive I'd only recommend using this where you know some jerk won't snatch the phone off your table or something.

Android :: Style Own Styleable With A Style - Custom View Class With Custom Attribute

Jul 8, 2009

I'm creating my own View class, and defining custom xml attributes with a attrs.xml. As long as I provide each attribute manually, there is no problem, but

code:...................

The android:text is properly set in my instance, but the borderDrawable is not. I guess this has something to do with namespaces, because inside the styles.xml, the name="mypack:borderDrawable" is not handled by the XML parser's namespace facility, because its inside an attribute value. So "mypack" is in no way connected to "http://some.weird.url.com/seems/not/to/ matter" and adding it via xmlns:mypack... to the stylefile would not help, I guess. In the same file, "android:text" is somehow recognized, even though "android" is AFAIK only a ns-defintion for [url], which is also not declared in that file.

So what is the proper way to set a custom attribute in a style?

Android :: Beta Testers Needed For Fast-paced Retro Game

I'm a bit scared to release it into the wild, cause I have only tested it in two different phone models (Samsung Spica, Motorola Milestone), and wouldn't like to receive a lot bad rating because of an elusive bug in the most popular phone. In exchange I offer myself to beta-test your apps/games, and if I find a proper way (because the market does not allow gifts right now), I'll give a free copy of the paid game to the testers. Reply in this forum or send me an email and I'll send you back the apk and the link to the survey.

Android :: Htc Incredible Vs Nexus One

May 31, 2010

Currently I'm an AT&T subscriber in Hawaii. Very soon my contract will end which means UPGRADE, YAY! Now, I will be honest I do own an Iphone 3G. I'm aware that the new Iphone will be released or revield very soon. No I am not an applefan boy for those who may be thinking it. I love Iphone and it's features, but it's OS even to 4.0

I feel has come to be obselete when comparing with the new android devicesthat are currently being released.

Now that you know a little about me, let's get to the problem. I'm currently debating on getting either a Nexus One or an HTC Incredible. I know two entirely different Carriers(two GSM[tmobile n ATT] and CDMA). I've never had any other carrier besides ATT and despite what people may tell me I've never been financial screwed over by ATT or had extremely bad service or coverage(remember I'm in Hawaii not much to cover out here). Now on the other hand I have heard some horror stories about verizon overcharging or charging people for things they didn't want enabled ETC etc...I'm NO FANBOY of ATT either. I'm going off of what I've read by reviews and personal people I've talked to. For instance, a co-worker of mine, named Jason told me "Verizon had his first family plan bill at 400 something! Which is insane because it's just him and his wife. He did not go over any of his limits and the worse thing was is when he called and asked about it they explained it and it MADE SENSE. Now, this guy is one of those that has no reason to lie, so I believe him. My sister has hated Verizon as well for their pricey charges and bad customer service with her BLACKBERRYSTORM lol. I know horrible phone.

Now the decision, Which one should I get. Note: I have been debating this for almost two months now. I've seen almost every review, unboxing, and vs videos on youtube on BOTH phones. I do know the technical differences between the two:

Incredible:

+ 8MP Cam w/Dual LED Flash
+ 7 Homescreen with HTC UI
+ 8GB Onboard Storage
+ Skype Mobile
+ HTC Widgets
+ HTC Keyboard
+ 199.99 2 yr contract

Nexus One:

+ Dual Microphone w/Noise Cancellation
+ Unlocked GSM Phone
+ Battery life
+ Sooner Guaranteed updates
+ Notification trackball
+ $530 No contract
